The Bobcats are rumored to be trying to get a second first-round pick in order to acquire Georgetown big man Roy Hibbert late in Round 1 on Thursday.

A source with another team said the Cats are looking for a pick around No. 20, that they would like to use on Hibbert. No guarantees that he's still available that late, and this could also signal that the Bobcats are ready to give up on Sean May.

This is great news, I wonder what we are going to have to give up, but still another first rounder would be nice to have so we can get the big man in Charlotte, big man and I think he'll be a good player in the NBA...

Wonder if the Nets would be interested in trading their pick for McMay this year like they were going to last year?

Naaaaaaaaaaaaa, I didn't think so either!!

Using another 1st to get Hibbard means in my opinion we are surely looking small with
#9. Westbrook, Gordon or even Augustin.

Hey, the last time we drafted a big shot-blocking upperclassman from the Big East, it worked out pretty well...I just don't know what team we can get the pick from...also, does this mean we can go small with our first pick?

I'm actually more excited about getting the additional pick than I am about moving up in the draft.

There is no question now that we are going small with the first pick. Our two biggest needs are a backup point that can defend (Westbrook) and a quality big man. I had a hunch after what LB said after working out hibbert that he wanted him. We should sill trade back in if Hibbert, Koufos, or Ajinca is left. Hibbert is my choice hands down but we need a big this year regardless. If Westbrook and Gordon is there ( realgm mock has him going 11 now) i would take Gordon as i think most people would but its very unlikely both are there so our choice should be the one thats left at our pick.

Trade May and #38 to Toronto for #17 or to NJ for #21

I think one of the bigs will be there at 21 but id like to get 17 to have our choice as i think all three of the bigs i mentioned will still be on the board.

If we can get in there to pick up Hibbert without much cost its a terrific move.

Even below average big men come with a large price tag so if we can lock up a 18 minute, 5 ppg, 5 reb, 1 block type player for ~1.5 million a season thats a great move.

Not to mention he has the upside to be a 8 ppg, 7 reb type player in a few seasons.

Gordon is going to be terrible in the pros he doesn't even have very good college numbers and he has no position in the league. If we take him at #9 then we need a complete management overhaul.

Augustin looks like a weak prospect, I think Westbrook is worth a flier even though he's a marginal prospect.

Coming out of this draft with Westbrook and Hibbert? That would be AWESOME! I think any deal we'd offer any team in the late teens or early 20's, would involve Sean May.

And the big question for us is, who will miss him?

I would have loved for May to work out, but I'm loving a May for mid-first rounder.

If we get inside the top 20 we're in excellent shape, as there are 4-5 big prospects that we'd be pretty happy to get. Man, I hope this works out.

me too. more value, less money, less bust potential. seems like the smarter thing to do depending on how much you rate Mayo over Westbrook.

Man, all this talk is exciting. I just hope something good happens. If we end up staying put and dont get the player we really want, it will feel like a real downer. Hate to be getting my hopes up only to have them dashed.

Another thing worth considering. I am reading today on RGM and other sites, and people keep watching DeAndre Jordan fall further and further. Suppose Charlotte does get that 2nd 1st rounder around #17-20. If Ajinca and Hibbert are available, but also Jordan, would you take Jordan over over the other 2 simply b/c his ceiling is highest? Certainly worthy of discussion. What an intriquing scenario that would become for us.

I would happily take Jordan at #20, I just wouldn't take him in the top #10.

If something did go down and we drafted Doc Hibbert, would that mean we would look to move Nazzy?

I view Nazzy as a poor man's Doc and I think that Doc could start in the NBA from day #1 at a MUCH cheaper price.

So I'm gathering that if both are on the Board, you take Jordan over Doc? OK. Now if Doc would start from day 1, would Jordan? I think he would have to sit behind Nazr for a year, but who knows. Hibbert's had a lot more big game experience and should be much more ready than Jordan to start from day 1. Just imagine, the way Love abused Jordan in the NCAA, then think about him taking on Howard when we play Orlando. Scary. But in 2 years, who knows.

Is this more realistic?

Minny deal: 9th/Crash for 3rd/Walker...take Mayo.

ORL deal: Ammo for 22nd + Cook (I think we can do better, maybe Ammo for the 15th/filler, but regardless, the object is to get Hibbert).

We don't get the PF we're coveting, but I'm not so sure management (and Mek for that matter) wants a PF.

I'm a huge fan of Doc's but I think that if we are at #20 and Jordan is there, it would be hard to pass up on what he might become. It would mean the end of Hollins (we'd either trade him or not sign him) because I don't want two bigs that raw on the roster at once.

Man it's a tough one though. Doc would come in and be active from day #1. Jordan we would have to be patient with and make sure we have a very, very, VERY good big man coach.

I would hope that would happen JUST so Ammo and Reddick were on the same team together!!

Heh, well you know where I got it...an ORL fan just posted that on RealGM. My point was that we CAN garner a 2nd 1st pick to get Hibbert for the cost of Ammo...and I really do think Crash + 9th would move us into 3rd pick territory.

Just seems more realistic then Ammo moving us from 9th to 3rd and trading Crash for a mid 1st. I don't see anyone giving one up for May.

FWIW, I think Brown would take Hibbert over Jordan almost every time. He's wanting to win now, and tho Hibbert's ceiling might not be as high he'd definitely contribute more for the next couple years.

If we get another 1st round pick, and Hibbert and Jordan were both there, then I would have a really hard time deciding who to choose. With Hibbert, you know he's had a ton of experience and you know what he can bring to our team. Jordan on the other hand has only 1 year of NCAA experience hasn't been in the situations Hibberts been in. Plus, like many of you have said, Hibbert could come in and almost start immediately. Whereas Jordan wouldn't make much of impact until 2-3 years from now, and even then he might not depending on if he develops. I agree with Spectre though, Brown would almost certainly take Hibbert over Jordan.

Gosh....we basically turned down Sean Williams for Sean May. How stupid.
