WFNZ has been killing the Bobcats all morning for taking Augustine over Lopez and for drafting Anjica in general.
Why don't they stick to what they're good at: Nascar and College Foorball talk?

I would just ignore it, you shouldn't care what other people think.

WFNZ talks about the Bobcats 1% of the time. unless its cool or popular to trash them.
they should just stick to riling up stupid ass rednecks like they do week in and week out.

I wanted Bayless much more than DJ but I would have been even more pissed off if we took Brook Lopez I don't think he would have complimented Emeka's game as much as the experts were saying he would have. They just see us passing up on a legit 7 footer and I believe those experts see Mek has a undersized center and considering he won ROY playing the 4 I guess they think that position best suits him, but I don't see how anyone that actually watched Okafor play the center and pf last season think he's best suited for the latter. I'm glad we targeted a mobile big man like Ajinca only thing that could have been better would have been traded someone to Golden State to get Wright or Randolph from them. I'm hoping Ajinca can become the help we need to guard those mobile 4's that gave our team headaches during previous seasons.

WFNZ is on my ignore list on most topics but especially when it comes to the Bobcats. No one follows the team or the NBA enough to make anything more than a uneducated comment just like most of the stupid redneck listeners who only watch NASCAR and Football. Packman, Mac, and Howard are all clueless. I try and give the morning show a pass and they are usually pretty balanced but they too will take shots at the cats when they can. More so yarbs than Gary.
The thing that irratates me the most about the shows besides the MSP is they talk about how nobody cares about the cats and bash them 99% of the time then wonder why no one calls in to talk about them. Do the really expect bobcat fans to listen to or trust their views about the team. What incentive are you giving me to listen to your show?

thats exactly right. They only know what ESPN tells them. they do no research or care about it at all. just like to trash when given the opportunity.
Theres a reason guys that work for ESPN don't make more money as GM's. Just remember... if they were better at their job's they would be hired in a second. Its all just talk.

Morning Sports Page is the best thing going for that station; except on Thursdays when they do that stupid No Name Challenge... I used to listen to PrimeTime on a regular basis, but I could feel myself getting dumber by the day... I haven't actively listened in over a year; I might happen upon it when I'm changing stations in the car... And Mac by himself is just painful; the midday show was far more tolerable when Sandy Penner was there. I couldn't trust anyone besides the MSP for decent Bobcats talk. They seemed to be on board with the Augustin pick, but had reservations about Ajinca at 20.

I've lurked for a little bit, but this is my first post. I've got to agree with the last part of your post. Why would I want to talk about the Bobcats with people who clearly don't like them and look for the negative in everything the Cats do? I have no problem with them discussing the merits of decisions the Cats make (that's what talk radio is for), but they often follow it with a "or do you even care?" at the end. That's the only thing that really bothers me. Don't ask me to call in one breath and then, in effect, discount my opinion in the next.

usually i get the MSP on my ride to work with is fantastic... not for sports just for entertainment alone. but today i came to work late and was forced into 40 minutes of mac. ugh. he went on and on about bayless and trashing ajinca. even trashing weaver saying he couldnt shoot and crying about CDR and walker being on the board. who cares, weaver is a defensive stud and can play pg/sg. CDR and Walker would have been stuck behind jrich, wallace, dudley, carroll and ammo. no thanks. 95% of the analysis on the show was just plain bad. dont pretend to be informed when you arent. just say "i dont watch a lot of NBA so i will refrain from commenting". like you guys said, why the hell would any of us want to call in to wfnz to talk about the bobcats? its like trying to start up a bobcats conversation with my mom (except if my mom pretended to be an authority on the team after watching maybe 2 games ever). mom, i love you but i'll save the hoops talk for pops. thanks and yes, i will make sure i eat plenty of fruits.

How Mac wound up getting more time is beyond me... When I first heard him solo after Sandy Penner left, my ears were bleeding...

When I first came to Charlotte in 2000, I was excited about living again in a place with an active, locally produced all-sports radio station. Took about 48 hours to crush that enthusiasm. "We hate the owner, we hate the team, get out of our town, you're not welcome here" is the only thing I heard for two years.
Five years later I come back to Charlotte, turn on their station, and the first thing I hear is, "We hate the owner, we hate the team, get out of our town, you're not welcome here". I actually laughed outloud in the car when I realized that the same people were doing the same shows and saying the same thing they were five years ago. In a city where everything has grown and changed almost overnight, they have remained solid as a rock.
According to Arbitron's winter 2008 ratings, WFNZ is the 16th most popular station in the market. That's actually up from their 19th position in the fall of 2007, which puts them one spot behind WNOW-FM, "Mexican Regional" radio, and a few spots ahead of WNOW's sister AM station, "Spanish Tropical". Evidently, nothing says Charlotte radio quite like WFNZ and programming en Espanol. I guess the tried-and-true "We hate the owner, we hate the team, get out of our town, you're not welcome here" messaging strategy is working really well in its 7th big year.

Great Post Michael. Have to Rep you up for that one!
wfnz is garbage sports radio at best. a bunch of fat guys with very small amount of intelligence giving their opinion on everything and taking anybody else's opinion as garbage. packer, especially, wins arguments basically by using the hitler technique, he just screams louder than everybody else, he's pathetic.

You're right Davcbow, these guys certainly have their own agenda. If it weren't for the XM sports stations, I would never get any decent sports talk radio.
Well guys, you can always listen to the crappiest internet radio station available -- http://www.blogtalkradio.com/carolinasportsnetradio

I'm trying to figure out a good day to do a Bobcats only show for CSN, so Bobcats Fans keep in mind that there will be a Bobcats exclusive show soon.
That is me.

i will say this... MSP has been on vacation all week and we've been forced to listen to mike and mike (fill-ins). lemme just say..... i cant wait til gary, jim and mark are back on the air. m&m is ok and i would take it over any of the other shows on wfnz, but nothing beats MSP.

I'm with you on that, Fatlever. I'm not terribly fond of the other shows on wfnz, but MSP is great. They take sports seriously, but not too seriously. Just a good, fun, easy-going show.

Well as you guys know, I've posted before that I heard such and such on WFNZ and a couple times I've directed y'all to their podcasts like I should have last week when they had DJ on like 3 of their shows, I'm a fan. I put it on once i get to work and change it as soon as 3 pm rolls around and Packer comes in with his haterade. I like all the guys, I email in and they email me back a good percentage of the time, if that tells you anything about how many emails they get, i don't know. I'm not trying to defend them, it's entertainment and some info and a lot of opinion, so you know, take it or leave it to each his own, whatever. I like it, They interview Bobcats, players, management, LB and DJ. Sure they hate on them a bit, a good bit, but it's like Gary from MSP and Mac from the mid-day show told me separately when I told them to quit hating on the Bobcats and quit calling on MJ to be the face of the team, you have to go where the listeners will tune in and call in. Stirring the pot is how they get action on their show, if it's what the people are thinking they say it. And I hate to say it but until this team makes a big push in the win column, the general public will think poorly of this team.
So yeah, it's not for diehard Bobcats fans to get their daily news, but we are an NBA city and they do have to talk about it, like what they say or not. Get your Bobcats news and opinion from BCP not WFNZ, but hey if you guy feel like it call in and give them hell, they like it.
