Gee whiz, is this game really not tipping off until 10:30pm? My alarm clock goes off before 6:00am... This is going to be painful.
A couple of things that I'm looking forward to seeing are:
* The intensity level. I imagine that we're going to see some intensity in tonight's game after LB laid down the law in yesterday's practice.
* Who matches up against Anthony Randolph and how they do against him.
* DJ Augustin's assist numbers
* The Eiffel Tower :p
So, who else will be watching tonight?

This is OT but I am so po'ed right now....
Clippers get MARCUS CAMBY for a SECOND ROUND PICK! I would've traded MC and a 1st rd pick! And throw in Sean May! You gotta be kidding, wake up MJ!
On another note....
I think we get a win here, GO CATS GO!
We gotta stop Belinelli tonight!

That would be too bad. Seeing Jermareo/Ajinca vs. Randolph would be fun. Especially since Randolph's been recognized for showing some skill so far in SL2008.

I'll be watching in between watching the NL finally winning a damn all star game...hopefully (2-0 as I type). Was out of town the first two games, so am looking forward to seeing how the fellas look, especially Kyle Weaver, as I fear he may not make the cut:( We'll see though, but I'm really looking forward to seeing AA do his thing against Brandan Wright and others inside.
And about Camby, ammofan, why would we need this guy? We've already established that we don't need a starting 5 with Mek there, we need a 4, so adding Camby wouldn't really do anything. Plus, if we were looking to gain a 5, I'd rather us have drafted Lopez and have a younger, more offensive minded 5 than the older, declining Camby....as good of a defender and rebounder as he is. No, the Camby thing with LAC is good...one less suitor for Mek!!

I think it's here (http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia-live/nba/10462/500_nba-tv_live_060213.asx).
Also, the PA announcer is much louder this time, making it seem like there's at least a color commentator.
Sorry, posted before I saw your edit, EB.

Let another one get away in the final 2:00 minutes. DJ drained 30 but 0 assists. Not what I expected, and I am sure not what LB wants. But again, he doesn't have but a few guys with him who will make the team. But he still should have had a few assists.

Davidson didn't look too bad in the early minutes of the 3rd quarter. Maybe the coaches felt comfortable with him and wanted to see what the others could do.

Didn't they say AA might not play the last game due to a mild injury, but he played anyway? It may be he aggravated whatever was ailing him and so they gave him most of the game off? I sure hope there is some excuse which makes sense.

With the personnell that was out there the last 5 minutes or so, it was obvious winning wasn't a priority, so taking that into account, there was some pretty good stuff to take away. DJ had a very solid game, along with the Kyles (Weaver and Hines) as well as Mays, with honorable mention to Marcus Slaughter. Jermareo would've had a really good game, if not exceptional, if he had gotten more than 6 minutes of PT....I don't know what's up with that. AA looked pretty awful in his limited minutes along with Hollins, Wallace and Shakur.
I don't know how many roster spots are available, but I think Beagle Weaver locked up his spot, and Hines is looking like a possibility, which is great!!

I don't give a **** to SL games, neither to points, assists etc. but please, can someone explain me the Augustin's 0 (zero) assists tonight? Will you say "he dished out great passes but dumbass amateur SL players blew all them" again? Couldn't they convert even "1" of them?
Guys, why don't you want to understand that? We've not drafted the 2nd best -here it's coming- "pure" PG in the draft, we've drafted yet another Jameer Nelson. Augustin is Jameer Nelson, nothing less, nothing more. I hate Jameer Nelsons, and more important than my feelings, we don't need Jameer Nelsons. I'd like to repeat that for 10000th time, Augustin might be a great player, but he won't fill our needs.
We'll all regret for that pick. But now you may begin screwing on me. Please say Lopez is nothing but Mihm. Please say Felton needs to be pushed. Please say Okafor doesn't need to be pushed, because he's f****** great offensive threat.
I'm sorry guys, but I feel pissed as much as I do after draft night. I can't stop myself.

Well, that would have to include the possibility that an athletic freak like Ryan Hollins still doesn't get how to play basketball after 2 years in the league.
I think he may be the guy that LB was referring to in his "spot in the rotation is not guaranteed" speech. (Even though his contract is not, to my knowledge, guaranteed yet).

dude take it easy.
it is summer league which is essentially an over hyped practice session. a chance for coaches to feel out the new guys... the guys they might not have seen much film or actual game play from.
so while i definitely agree that 0 assist is terrible no matter the circumstances... it is entirely possible that LB feels comfortable with his passing skills and wanted DJ to work more on his ability to create a shot and finish. Like it or not, a point guard isn't just a passer in this NBA. Sometimes the defense (or lazy play from your team) rules out a pass and you gotta do it yourself.
Maybe Larry just wanted him to focus on that this game so that he can see what he needs to work on in training camp. just a suggestion though.
I think maybe it just hasnt sunk in yet that we have a real coach, who might actually have a plan in place. which after Sam is very understandable.
and tamb... Brooke Lopez is the last thing this team needed. once the real season starts, you will see. That guy will get eaten alive by the big boys.

I have to agree with Tams on this one . The last two games Augustine has had NO assist and get this Ten turnovers. Talk about Felts shooting to much 19 shoots makes Felts look like a passing point guard. Felts all so averaged 7.3 assist a game . I don't expect 7.3 assist . But no assist from our number nine pick is not good.
Yes he looks like hes has good handles and a good shot and can score when needed. Whitch is a good thing but now is the time he needs to show off his court vision and passing ability.
Alexis is and has been very disapointing so far looking very lost on the court. Im just hoping Larry Brown hasn't made a mistake in that pick. At worst right now he needs to be on the court learning because hes tied up for five years. We might see him in the D league for a year. We really need to see him assert himself . He seems so lost . Being foom France it might be a learning curve like it was with Walter Herrmann.
I don't understand whats going on with Dudley . Im just hoping he hasn't got on Larry Browns shit list. If he has he will be traded soon .
Hollins was offered a quilifing offer . We might take that offer back because hes playing like trash.
Davidson is under contract and has seemed to play well. But Larry cutting his playing time all so concerns me. You just don't know what Brown is thinking.
I have liked the play of Green hes very active can got to the hoop has a nice handle and can score. Mays has a real nice chance of making this team . Hes got a NBA body very active can board and score. And his nactural position is power foward.
I see Hines geting a shot to make the team but all so see his size perventing that too small at 6.5 to play p/f but hes active.

I love Office Space. Such a great movie, but back to Augustines performance... We need to remember that all of these guys hate to lose. They didn't get to this position if they were satisfied with losing. So yeah maybe Augustine did shoot too much but was there really another alternative?
Let's break this down shall we.
Bobcats vs GS
1st Q: Lost quarter by 11. Augustine (5points on 2-3 shooting)
2nd Q: Won quarter by 4. (8 points 4 free throws and 2 of 2 shooting)
3rd Q: Won quarter by 11 (5 points 2-5 shooting)
4th Q: Lost quarter by 10 (12 points, 4-5 shooting, 6-7 free throws)
DJ: 64% shooting including 2-3 downtown. Includes 91% free throws
Rest of the Team: 51% shooting including 2-3 Downtown. 60% free throws
To conclude my research...What are you complaining about? Yeah he should have had some assists, but if you were another team and one of our scrubs has an easy layup what would you do? You would foul our 60% foul shooting team. If anything that is what we should complain about the 14 missed free throws.

All good points. However, it's still a little disconcerting that he's a pass first pg who got NO assists in a game. As much as people talk about how bad his running mates are, they're still playing against scrubs too, all of whom were still collectively some of the better basketball players in college ball or the equivalent, otherwise they wouldn't have been invited.
I'm sure he'll pass more when he's running with superior offensive options. But, no assists? 2 assists? I don't want to turn this into an Augustine/Felton debate, as I'm for both guys. But Felton was able to get pretty good assist numbers each year he participated compared to his minutes. (Though, granted, he had May his rookie year and Ammo the next. Augustine's best running mates are Davidson and Dudley, who only played one game, I think.)
I'm reserving judgment for sure, and I think Augustine will be great. But, if he's such a great play maker, which by definition is a guy who sets up people for easy buckets, I would expect more assists, or at least some assists.
Please let me restate, I AM RESERVING JUDGMENT. I THINK HE WILL BE GREAT. I just wanted to point out the above to all of the people who hate on Felton and have said that Augustine is a pure pg.

If Augustin's 0 assists is only the other dumbasses' faults, then what are we talking about then? Let Augustin do everything. If that would be a playoff game and if Augustin was LeBron against Detroit (I mean the match with 48 points), it was OK for other 4 players only watch the game and sometimes set screens!! But this is SL, and what is the meaning of the stupid summer league, unless you won't give the ball to other poor guys???
I hope the coach would shut down DJ for the remaining two games so that they would be able to evaluate what others can do (probably they know what "he" can do, since they've drafted him). Since they are invited, at least they know how to score with a layup before being fouled, eh?
Even if he was Chris Paul, I wouldn't expect so much assists since in SL games there are no foul restrictions and thus assist ratio is low, as you have mentioned. But 0 assists is nothing but ridiculous. I swear I would have said sth different if he'd be able to make 1 assist. He fouled Cj Watson, CJ fouled him. They've both scored a bunch of points. They've both fouled each other for million times. But CJ finished with 7 assists. Come on dudes. This was the CJ Watson we've cut last year.
Whatever... I don't want to say a word about Augustin anymore. We'll see when the time comes.

First of all, it's his 3rd game in the NBA. He scored 30 points off of 14 shots. Not bad because I don't remember him just jacking up shots, he pretty much ran the offense and when nobody could create anything he took charge.
Not having any assists sucked and I think everybody can agree on that; however, you also need to think about the passes that he gave to our guys and they were fouled. I remember seeing that at least 3 times.
Also, a lot of assists come on the pick and roll and we are not running that well right now. The big man is getting in DJs way or DJ cant seem to get the ball to the big guy with a turnover.
Free throws and turnovers are my worries. Assists come with chemistry.
