sorry guys, I just can't get over how this could've been our pick...I remember the Hornets picking B Diddy because they knew they just couldn't pass him up although they were fine at the PG position and didn't need him. If you go back and look at his stats, he only averaged 5 points a game his first year because he didn't play much (18 mpg). And they gave him the reins the next season, because his stardom couldn't be contained. But at least they weren't stupid to go for a backup with a lottery pick and miss out on a future superstar. I know winning the summer league MVP isn't saying much, but you can't deny when you see that kind of talent.

If we end up dealing Crash for a 4 then I think we could really have used him at the 2. If something like that does go down we're looking at Duds/Ammo or Hammer starting.
Maybe one day they'll listen to me and take a combo...but I'm starting to really doubt it.

It really doesn't matter to me. I mean Bayless is like a SG instead of a PG.

exactly...I mean come on. We don't need to look at every player in the league and say ah ha, the Bobcats screwed up! Haha! Stupid front office! No! Bayless may be a good player, may be an All Star. Hell DJ could surpass Ray, then Ray who averaged 14.4 and 7.4 as a combo/sometimes PG/playing with JEFF MCFREAKIN GINNIS!!! could turn into a really solid combo? Who knows man...who knows what will happen in this crazy game? All I know is I'm not pissed the Bobcats drafted DJ rather than, wait, another combo! I'm by no means saying Ray is a combo, I think he's got a great chance to be a great PG for a long time. Bayless as a summer league mvp does not make me say the Bobcats screwed up....sorry.

Sean May also won the summer league MVP award in 2005. It doesn't matter.
2007: Nate Robinson
2006: Randy Foye
2005: Sean May
2004: Jason Kapono
Those guys have done a ton in their careers.

Bumpus, why can't you accept that every move the Bobcats has ever made has been done with the intention of not making progress as a team and/or without any forethought put into the quality of the players?
Seriously though, summer league = practice.

Let's not get into woulda, coulda. shoulda. Bayless, excelled at glorified practice. Big deal, he may not see the court in the regular season. And when does a summer league MVP equal "future superstar", give us a break!!

bayless is not going to get to the line 20+ times per game in an nba game. Ill reserve judgement until I see him play in the nba.
nate robinson won mvp last year, and id rather have dj then nate

I'd rather have McInnis than Nate. Nate is ridiculous. I can't stand that guy. Did I mention he got a tech in the Bobcat's last summer league game, while sitting on the freakin bench?

There isn't a doubt in my mind that he'll eventually start next year (I see him taking Steve Blakes minutes before the All Star break) and will be a core player along with Roy, LMA and Oden.

I think he'll be fine with the Blazers, because Brandon Roy can take much of the load off the PG position, and will allow Bayless to be off the ball. I don't think we'd have that luxury.

Jerryd Bayless was amazing in the Summer League, he tore it up big time. He will be a great fit with the Blazers, and to me, they have the best future in the next 5 years.
Who cares if the Bobcats could've drafted him, that was the past, get over it, look at what you've got and might have.
