If Smith was a Bobcat would the fans reaction be different.
I agree with Bonnell . I think the reaction would be different.
Is it two different standerds for the two Charlotte teams?
YOUR THOUGHTS???????/

If Steve Smith was a Bobcat, he would've drop-kicked Sean May for being out of shape, and his foot would've gotten stuck in May's third roll on the right side and he would've missed the season with a high ankle fracture.

If Steve Smith was on the team , Mek would have a attitude like ZO. May would have no ass left from the number of times Steve kicked it. Attitude is what the team needs . Just gussing but i would think Crash or Dudley could kick more tail than any one else on the team.
Could you see Matt Caroll busting some one in thair eye?

Matt Carroll going gangsta on someone! That's hilarious.
The Panther's have won more and thus get more 'passes' from the fans.

Great blog by Bonnell! I totally agree with his assessment. The NFL is full of so much more social deviants than the NBA, and yet all their misdeeds are glossed over like it doesn't matter because it's the NFL. Of the three major North American sports, football is my least favorite by far (probably because that's the one I never played in any sort of organized, officiated capacity) though I am a Tar Heel and Panthers fan. Still, the double standard that exists nationwide, but in a regional scope, in Charlotte is enough to make me start pulling against the Panthers; it's an easy organization/team to criticize for their continuous diasppointments on the field and in the FO, but I hate that a bunch of nimrods are making it hard for me to pull for the pro football team I like because the same nimrods hate on the pro basketball team I like.
Then again, it could be my antipathy for the FoxHurney excitement vaccum, and I don't mind if they lose because it'll be all the more likely they are fired. We'll see what happens, but it's great that Bonnell brings this noticeable, but previously unspoken, trend to the forefront.

I just wish the Bobcats team as a whole played with the same fire 5"9 Steve Smith does...............

uh no. dudley is self centered, crash is soft spoken, and carroll is about the most relaxed person on the team

That is some good stuff by Bonnell. He's mentioning the "pink elephant" in the room that has been around for quite a while but no one else would say. The NFL is the personification of what people believe the NBA to be. But with the NFL being the most popular league in the nation, it truly is the teflon league. I do root for the Panthers, but could you imagine the public outcry if the Bobcats had comitted the same transgressions that the Panthers have? They'd have to have security around the arena 24/7 to make sure no one burned it down.

Maybe the best blog Bonnell has ever done. The reasons for the "thug" stigma attached to the NBA is an 800 lb gorilla no one wants to talk about.

i think with ryan hollins sheer size he would pulverize anybody he opposed on our team, and nobody could defend themself because any punch they threw would glance off of his twig-like physique
however we could always re-sign lonny baxter and he could just threaten to shoot anybody who doesn't pull their weight

he would have punched Sam Vincent in the nose and then been suspended from NOT hitting him again.

We need a Charles Oakley or Anthony Mason type to bully people around the rim. We have alot of good defenders on the team but no real bullies. None of our big men really comand respect. Omeka is a good shoot blocker but i've never seen him take over a game on a night after night basis.
