Anyone else concerned?

I heard about it when they first started putting the finishing touches on the project. I'm not too overly concerned as the benefits are possibly too great. There are other contraptions like the LHC, albiet smaller, that haven't really had any problems.

IMO, the people complaining about the LHC are the people who think that after it goes online then "We'll have too much knowledge and power, yadda yadda"

Nope, I was upset when we shut down our SSC project.

Speaking of LHC's, CERN and obliteration....Angels and Demons is being made into a movie. This book is better suited for the big screen than The Da Vinci Code was, it was also supposed to have Naomi Watts in it before the writers strike but I guess plans have changed.

I thought that Angels & Demons was a better book than the Da Vinci Code.

Speaking of books (movies), has anyone read "The Golden Compass" books? Dark matter, what they call Dust, is a main part of the story.

I have seen the first film and been told by numerous friends that the books are very good. Just haven't gotten around to reading them but I do plan to as I've already bought them. I remember the Dust seemed interesting in the movie but I'm having a hard time remember much about it right now or if they just didn't go into much detail. Every time I try and remember the movie all I can think about is that Polar Bear knocking off that other ones Jaw. :p

I agree with you on A&D as well, it is my favorite. I enjoyed Deception Point also, Digital Fortress not so much. The two with Langdon are definitely his best ones.

Back to Naomi Watts, she obviously doesn't look Italian like Vetoria should but I still liked her. This other girl looks like she could pull it off though.

I'm fascinated by the Compass books, and the movie didn't even give you a real taste for what the books are about...which is basically a 2nd attempt of the Lucifer rebellion against God. I know that's gotten a lot of religious folks' panties in a knot, but I eat up stuff like that.

It is just fiction after all.

Yeah, I forgot about Digital Fortress! I liked that too!

Ewan McGregor...maybe it's because I'm such a Star Wars geek, but I always perk up when he's in it. I really liked "The Island"...of course Scarlett being in that too didn't hurt.

I think Watts could have pulled off being French:

Heh, even if she didn't look French I could easily have overlooked it.

Large Hardon Collider - I know I've seen interpretive drawings of this somewhere before.....checks google.

Yeah, I don't get a lot of stuff that people go nuts over. Their fictional books, take what you want from them but unless I see something for myself or know from a credible source that something is fact I don't give it much thought. Debate, agruments, controveries should be healthy things in my opinon for religion. It's how we find out what we believe in. Evidently that's not what some think though.

For instance my mother, she thinks Harry Potter is bad just because she heard it from her pastor. I have no idea what he said or what she thinks will come of it but it amazes me how easily people are influenced in to not watching or reading things due to what they've been told from the pulpit.

Oh and thanks for the pic, I love Naomi!!

Probably cause she reminds me of one of my old girlfriends.

McGregor is cool too.

Scarlett was on Leno the other night. Never watch that show but it was on after the Olympics and I recorded it just for her. She's a lot different than what I thought she'd be. Definitely, less interesting now that I've seen her personality but still super hot none the less.

I don't think anything bad is going to happen in the slightest.

However, I sure do want to celebrate it like the world is coming to end. We should all make t-shirts with slogans on it and wear funny hats. We should throw LHC parties all over the globe.

The end is near my friends. Prepared be absorbed by the ANTI.

Hmm... I'll ad "Angels & Demons" and "The Golden Compass" to my list. Both of those sound like they'd be up my alley.
