Not the 'Cats but here is the new floor for the Hornets:

I don't want to be a bummer or anything but that franchise has done such a nice job of introducing its new logo, court and jerseys to its fanbase while we have like 10 new logos that the fans have never seen, nobody really knows what is our primary logo, our secondary logo, or what is even an active logo anymore, and even though we have a new floor I have seen NOTHING about this in the news. The PR about the branding of our team has been horrible ever since the franchise started and I'm sad that they aren't working on trying to improve this especially when all they keep talking about is how they want to spread the Bobcats brand to more fans in the Carolinas.

Doesn't matter what you call them, you can't tell me that what I said in my post should go overlooked.

Yeah, the NO floor looks pretty sweet.
It's a shame that the Bobcats don't do as good a job at selling their product. I mean, the best news and information that we get usually comes from Michael Thompson, which is great for us and I can't thank him enough for the info he provides, but we're already buying the product or we wouldn't spend our time discussing it. Having a more visible team would be good for the team, fans and prospective fans alike.

I agree. Very strange how this team operates. I think the fact we have absentee landlords in Bob and MJ play some part in this, but there's still some weird stuff going on. Since draft day the biggest news this team has made has been re-signing Mek, acquiring S. Brown, and the LadyCats auditions. While, the Mek deal was necessary, I still can't think of a less lackluster couple of months for any team in the league that is in need of generating interest...I think the preseason schedule says a lot about this too with only home games in Charlotte; no G'boro, or Chapel Hill, or Winston. I think they've realized they aren't going to get any new fans or converts by anything they do off the court: their success as a franchise, and any interest it draws is predicated on what the guys do on the court this season. They're assuming the additions of coach Brown and DJ will improve the team and make it more entertaining to the point that they won't lose diehards and will gain newbies after last season's craptastic voyage. Also, they're obviously banking on the new TV deal to draw in potential casual observers and turn them into fans who will make treks to TWC to see the new exciting Bobcats play in person.

Whether or not this is a sound program that they're following, this is it. I think there's a massive amount of naivette involved in their plan, not to mention a lot of hope, but with coah Brown in charge on the court, and our solid core back, and hopefully an adequate MLE at the 4 to come later, it has a chance to work out over the next couple years; and barring significant injuries, it has a pretty good chance of working out beginning this year.

I understand the frustration - just know that we're working on a few high profile branding things right now. Much of it is out of our control as we work with partners and local/state government to make things happen. When they get done, I promise we'll make a lot of noise about it.

Phew, well at least I know that stuff is being worked on so that makes me feel better :). Thanks again Michael for all the information.

Now that's what I'm talking about! The guy's been in the gym since June, busting his ass and making himself a complete player. I love this guy!

Swish = Allstar 2009.

Also nice seeing Hammer, Ammo & Davidson in the gym.

BIG props to Bobcats.com for getting this to us.

See, now that's what I'm talking about. This oughta make spectre happy. They addressed almost everything that we've talked about wanting to know about the offseason. Swish mentioned specific things that he's been working on (midrange shots and ball-handling) and we even got to see some of the other guys working out with him! I felt like last year he eventually became a leader on the floor because of how he played, not because he tried or even wanted to fill that role. However, if he's taking a step forward as a leader among the guys in non-game situations (such as the practices we see in the video), and he's working hard at improving his game in the process, then I really can't wait to see Jason and the 'Cats play this season. (Or hell, at this point I'd take preseason. Whatever ya got.)

Great find M35!

Can't believe that he's had 8 coaches in 8 years...

I shoulda known you'd post something while I was typing...

I gotta agree with you though, on all points. The best part of this video, for me, is that it looks like Swish is not the only one who's been working hard this summer. For example, it's great to see Ammo on a court in something other than a suit.

How can any Bobcat fan not love this guy? He takes the game to heart, and he's driven to be all he can be. As much as I've started to doubt MJ, I'll always consider the move to bring in Swish to be one of the best we ever could have done.

I thought I was hurting for the season to start before...now I'm dying!

And how lucky are we to have Michael Thompson coming to this board? I have no doubt that he played a role in getting that vid out...there's not been anything like that in any of the previous offseasons.

Dude, you are very much appreciated.

Wow man. Swish is looking goooooooooooddddddddddddddd!!

If he does add tighter handles and some D to his game, he's going to be off the charts.

It's VERY hard not to get excited about next season already! Even seeing Ammo out there moving well gets the juices flowing.

Good lord I hope they do one of these clips on everyones off season.

This stuff is great!

If JRich stays healthy he's gonna have a monster year, count on it.

Court looks nice, but some HQ pics would be nice, I'm patiently awaiting.

I really wish that the Bobcats had a webcast or TV show similar to Panthers huddle which is basically a online webcast show that you can catch on ABC from time to time. The show gives fans a inside look at the Carolina Panthers players off of the football field. I watched the episode today before our last preseason game and they had one of our players go around the locker room with a camera interviewing different players on various topics outside of football. They even placed some bets on who would win in dream boxing matches like Ali vs Mike Tyson (most of them picked Tyson).

Only time I remember seeing something like this with the Bobcats was when we were on ESPN last year and they had a segment with Jared Dudley playing tricks on MJ by knocking on his door and then running away lol. I think doing something like this would be a great thing for a young franchise by letting the fans get to know the players a little bit more.

PS - Swish is my favorite Bobcat by far I heard he works on his handle every offseason though he'll never be elite at it but I do remember him breaking The Truth's ankles last year a few times when he went for 30 against Boston.

Doing a Charlotte Bobcats podcast this upcoming season is actually an idea that I've kicked around with a few people. Does anyone here have any podcast experience?

You don't need much equipment to do a podcast. If you are doing it at a house, you just need a mic for your laptop. If you want to be mobile, you can get a variety of mp3 players for under a hundred bucks. You can use Audacity to put tracks and music together.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I'd probably start using You Tube to host it if you don't have another place.
