This topic came to mind based on a thread on another forum where there was about 20 replies on the topic of "Top 10 PGs". Raymond Felton's name didn't come up in any of those 20 replies. Yet many of us here think of Ray as a top 10 PG.

I'd like to see your top 10 PGs to see if Ray falls on your list and if so where.

Trying to compile this list really shows me there aren't that many PG's that I hold in high esteem right now. I'll try my hand

1. Chris Paul (Whoever disputes this is an idiot)
2. Deron Williams (Huge PG, tough mentally and physically)
3. Baron Davis (Getting old, but still a force)
4. Gilbert Arenas (Unstoppable when he's on the court)
5. Steve Nash (Old, Old School, plays the game the right way)
6. Tony Parker (Doesn't get anywhere near enough credit for the Spurs Success)
7. Raymond Felton (Never really had guidance, could be special under LB)
8. Jason Kidd (Shell of his former self)
9. Andre Miller (Special season last year, if he can duplicate then he's top 10)
10 a. Rajon Rondo (I think he's a special talent)
10 b. Jose Calderon (See ^)

If you want to count Allen Iverson as a SG then the list will be like:

1. Chris Paul
2. Deron Williams
3. Steve Nash
4. Gilbert Arenas
5. Baron Davis
6. Jason Kidd
7. Tony Parker
8. Chauncey Billups
9. Mo Williams
10. Andre Miller

Now they may not be in order, but they are ones who are definately above Raymond Felton.

If you want to count Allen Iverson as a SG then the list will be like:

1. Chris Paul (max contract)
2. Deron Williams (max contract)
3. Steve Nash (12,250,000)
4. Gilbert Arenas (14,653,465)
5. Baron Davis (11,250,000)
6. Jason Kidd (21,372,000)
7. Tony Parker (11,550,000)
8. Chauncey Billups (11,050,000)
9. Mo Williams (8,353,000)
10. Andre Miller (10,233,000)

Now they may not be in order, but they are ones who are definately above Raymond Felton.

I wouldn't put Mo Williams in there (he's a small SG, not a PG...think a lesser Ben Gordon), but every one of those guys except for him make over 10 million per year. IMO Arenas is also a stretch; he's in the same class as AI IMO. I would throw Devin Harris in though (Felton is a better PG, but Harris has a more balanced game...he can score and pass).

Has ANYONE advocated for Felton to make 10 per or more? I'd disagree Zig that "many" think he's in the top 10...in fact I think you'd have a hard time finding more than a couple, and even then they'd be hard put to back it up.

IMO right now he's about average, or around 14-15 in the league...which would make a Nelson/Harris type contract about right.

Could you really name 13-14 guys you would rather have at PG than him?

He's toward the bottom of the top 10, no doubt. But I just tried and couldn't find that many guys out there that are better right now

Yeah, being near the top 10 is as much a testament to the overall lack of quality pgs as a compliment to Felton.

I'd also have him in that 10-13 range. I don't think Mo Williams is better than him.

I agree. There's always an "elite" few PG's. Kidd and Nash and Iverson (to a certain extent) are all on the downswing of their careers, just as Paul, Williams, and maybe Rose and Augustin are on the upswing.

The game is really kind of transitioning from the one dominant ball handling guard and one "shooting" guard to a more Big men that can handle the ball and initiate the offense much like LeBron, Wade, and Kobe do.

Mo Williams is the starting PG for the Bucks. He is a PG. Many people i know have said that Felton is a SG but just too small for the position so he runs the point.

Harris probably does have a more balanced game, but Felton is a better passer.

Well, the question wasn't "who I'd rather have", but if Felton was a top 10 right now. That took out potential, the Idiot and all other excuses for why he is where he is.

FWIW, here's a thread I made a while back that covers that:

Eh, I put him in the same skill set as Gordon & AI...but you can throw them all in though...Felton still lands in the middle of the pack.

BTW, Williams is no longer the Bucks' PG...they got rid of him to bring in the unimpressive Luke Ridnour because Mo's first inclination is to score. That'll work well with LBJ as he's like a point/forward and Mo can score.

Regardless of whether he's 10, 12 or 15...he's at least an average PG and there's plenty of teams that would love to have him. There's not much separation in that range yet Felton is making less than most all of them. Would anyone rather pay Andre Miller 10 million or Mo Williams 8 million? IMO Felton at half the price a pretty darn good alternative.

Does it matter?

So long as his play, his style of play and his application makes us a team better, I don't care if he's #1 or #30 on peoples list.

Player rankings only have validity in the world of NBA Fantasy Leagues.

Kobe, Paul or LeBron are probably the best and highest ranked players in the NBA today and where did that get them last season? They didn't win the championship - and at the end of the day, that is all that should matter.

Slam your post just made me think to ask you . Would you consider setting up another Fantasy league for us again this year . I loved the league you set up last year.
If you do have one count me in . ????????

Well, the question wasn't "who I'd rather have", but if Felton was a top 10 right now.
Isn't it the same argument?

The better player is ALWAYS the player I'd rather have. I'd take LeBron over anybody in the world, even if I could only play him at center. Just for the fact that he's the better player. So to me, the top 10 PGs are the top ten PGs I would have.

Of course you're entitled to your own opinion, but thats just how I feel:hypo:

Not in my opinion. Jason Kidd is "better" than Felton, but I wouldn't trade for him right now. In a couple of years Felton should still be getting better; in two years Kidd might very well be retired.

That type of thing was what I tried to address in that thread I linked to.

And Slam is exactly right...it doesn't matter.

Mate, I'd love to, but with the two young kids and an NBA keeper league that I am in plus 2 NHL league's I am in I don't really have the time.

Anyone else can feel free to fire the league up though.

Ziggy , Mustashio ,Can any one else or would any one else be willing to start another league this year ? I think it will turn out only bigger and better.
Slam is a nice guy he might tell us how to get it started . I know nothing about things like that . Hell i can't spell or even type but i sure would love for us to have another league this year.

I guess thats our disagreement. I don't think Kidd is at a point RIGHT NOW to where he's better than Felton. I see your side, but to each his own I guess
