Hear is my starting five and my five back ups
See where we differ and why?
Felton> DJ
Hammer> Crash
Rich> Dudley
May> Davidson
Mek> Nazz
With this line up the second unit might be as strong as the starters?

Why do you have J-Rich at SF & Crash at SG?

1) Felts / DJ / Brown
2) J-Rich / Carroll / (Ammo) / (Brown)
3) Wallace / Dudley / Ammo
4) Mek / May / Davidson
5) Nazr / Hollins / Ajinca

Why? because everyone plays their natural positions.........

I just like the idea of Hammer starting and Wallace as a sixth man backing up Hammer and Swish . We have no drop off when subs come into the game. All so Dudley should and has earned rotation time . Just puting the best players on the floor.
Wallace can play the two three or four . I don't think Dudley could play the two.
But Wallace could be a go to when the 2nd unit comes on the floor. I think he would be a great spark off the beanch and we have no let down at all. All so we could all ways have him in the last five mins of the game in crunch time.

Point Guard: Ray Felton/DJ/Shannon Brown -DJ and Felton basically will eat up most of these minutes Shannon should only be used there for emergency cases due to injuries.

Shooting Guard: Richardson/Shannon Brown/Hammer - My prediction is that Brown will top Hammer on the debth chart to become the back up to J-Swish. Based on his defense and energy he would bring off the bench. Not to mention I just like the idea of a bench duo of Augustin/Brown could be very fun to watch.

Small Forward: Wallace/Jared Dudley/Ammo - I know we went on a run last year without him but he's one of our better players and gives 110% at all times. Would I be ok seeing him lose his starting spot? No but I would be all for a reduction in minutes to try to avoid those nagging injuries he doesn't need to have 35-40 a night to be an effective player. Dudley or Ammo will battle it out for the second string spot it's tough to predict because honestly it could go either way. Both bring different things that will help us this year but I'm leaning towards picking Dudley because of his hard nosed tough defense.

Power Forward: Sean McMay/Davidson/Ajinca - If he's ready to play McMay is without a doubt the best option to start at this spot I don't even have to go into much detail. Davidson has shown much improvement in Summer League and like I've said before he's one of my picks to be a surprise player for us. After one year of teasing us with his talents (Thanks Biscuit) he'll finally crack the rotation and get steady minutes this year. Alexis Ajinca is D-League bait more than likely from the start of the year.

Center: Okafor/Mohammed/Twiggy - MEK IS A CENTER point blank if he adds a jumper and gets a bit quicker fine but you don't have to be 7"0 to man the 5 spot. Nazr should eat up majority of the back up minutes. I can't see Twiggy getting many minutes unless someone gets hurt.

What im saying is give Wallace starting burn but not to much burn around 32 mins a game being a sixth man and a go to guy with Swish getting a blow.
Swish has that midrange game and is a much better three point threat than Wallace.Swish A long With Hammer who spreads the floor all the way to the three point line. Alows May to play the pick and roll better than any one else on the team hiting the midrange shot off picks at a high clip. That means Felts worries less about shooting having a spread floor,. And Mek sees very few dubble teams because of nice spacing .
The problem with Swish and Wallace in at the same time is both players play about the same role [slashing or shooting the forced long ball] With clock running out.
Brown getting burn is interesting . I don't know enough about his game to tell .But i could see Brown using a defencive stoper in a back up two spot.
Ever one would have to agree Hammer would spread the floor better than Wallace. Not at all saying Hammer is a better player than Wallace but just fits in with the other four better.
To me the chemristy of a Wallace , DJ, Dudley ,Davidson , Nazz. might be as good as the other five with Wallace as the second units go to guy.
Chemristy wize i like a switch of Hammer and Wallace.

You nailed it right on, Eaton. That is the exact lineup that I see being played. The only thing that I think which might be a surprise is if May is not 100%, might Davidson have made enough progress to warrant a start at the PF position. But the edge goes to a healthy May.

I agree with this virtually 100%.

Felton - Inconsistent shot everywhere.
J Rich - We don't call him J Swish for nothing.
Wallace - Inconsistent shot from the outside.
Mek - No range and isn't consistent on the inside.(As in you can't give him the ball and say get us a bucket)
Nazr - Same as Mek
May - Can shoot and post up but obviously we can't rely on him until he's proven us all wrong which would be refreshing.

I understand what your getting at Dave. It's part of the problem with this team's make up. With your starting lineup your banking on Carroll to help spread the floor along with May and Swish while at the same time making up for the 2nd teams scoring issues by putting Wallace in the lineup.

If the lineup that most of us agree on posted by Eaton Branden1 doesn't work I wouldn't put it past LB to do something similar to what your suggesting. It certainly helped us out a few years ago when I thought we were playing some of our best ball ever because we had Herrmann and Carroll in the lineup to help space the floor.

the obvious line up is

Felton/DJ/S.Brown
J-Rich/Carroll/S. Brown
Wallace/Ammo/Dudley
May/Davidson/Ajinca
Oak/Nazr/Hollins

Given Larry Browns history we will probably see about 500 different lineups if we don't win.

Spacing is going to be key . With Swish and Wallace on the floor a big part of the time toghter hurts spacing bad. Look at the run we had last year with Wallace out . If hes our sixth man we have no drop off at all. This all comes to spreading the floor.
See DJ can dish has a better out side shot than Felton . Wallace can do his thing go to man., Morrison if ready might fit better hear than Dudley if hes ready to spread the floor. Dudley all so might be a better fit than Davidson at four to start the season.
Nazz the vetran fits perfect in a back up roll.
Be open minded and try to think of different lineups thet might work for Brown.
Not just the best players but what makes the team better.
Just picking the best five makes everthing easy . But who makes the team better for the whole game.

I agree with you Dav. The last 2 seasons, when the Bobcats went on their strong season ending runs, both were made with better spacing. Last year, Hammer-year before, Herrmann.

With that in mind:
Point guard - Felton.....DJ ...Brown
shooting 2 - Hammer....G Wallace
small forward-J Rich.....Ammo
power 4 - May.....Dudley....Davidson
center 5 - Okafor....Nazi...Hollins/Ajinca

Matt Carroll is a better ball handler, and can give the team another outside threat to go with the teams two best rebounders-May (when healthy), and Okafor.

I put Dudley in for Davidson, just because he's better-so far. And he can play the 4 for short periods, and the 3. Davidson will be the next most improved player on the team--next to Morrison/May. Ammo/DJ/and Dudley can give the second unit good spacing, reducing the doubles on Nazi, and give Crash plenty of room to operate-slashing to the hoop.

I'm doubtful the above lineups will actually be used, but I do think they give the Bobcats the best chance to make the playoffs this year, and beyond. I also think this gives the Cats better insurance in case there are multiple injuries.

Glad to see someone else sees the advantage of Wallace coming off the beanch.
It makes us a better team for the full 48 instead of being better for 30.
Hammer has proven hes good for 16 in a starting role. Hes only good for 9 or 10 as a reserve. If Wallace could still get his twenty coming off the beanch whitch i think he can with Swish resting . That one change adds 8 points a game thair . Not even considering a smoother run offence.
