I have the HD version of that first trailor. You can see that they have our new arena this year. Remember they modeled the old Charlotte Coliseum last year. They have the new court too but I haven't seen the center court logo yet. I wouldn't bet on it being the current one but ya never know. One of my friends has the beta copy of the game at his office. I'm gonna see if he can check it out before he heads back out of town for the week.

I like DJ's rating too. Looks like he'll be better than Felton at shooting, ball handling, speed etc..although his passing rating is really low. Felton's just better at passing and defense.

And I only have a PS3 now sold me Elite 360 last December to a friend to be able to get the 80gb Playstation mainly because I thought KillZone 2 would be out by than. Have you downloaded NBA Live 09 on the Xbox Marketplace yet Chabber? I might check it out next time I'm at my friends crib he was hyping it up last time I talked to him.

Yeah, both games will be updating the rosters and ratings a lot. Live's will be done by a system that uses Synergy and 2K's will be done by 1 man with the advice from others.

The other cool thing about 2k is that you can now search and download other peoples rosters and created players. That will be a great feature in itself.

We'll need it because unless Ajinca is on the FA list it doesn't look like he's in the game for some reason...although Kyle Weaver somehow made it in. :(

I have played Live man. It's a definite improvement but it's still not at 2K's level yet. I will probably buy it though to play as a change of pace so that is saying a lot as far as how much it's improved. Definitely worth giving it a shot.

As far as ratings go, it really looks like they don't have any kind of system as to how they come up with these ratings. Tons of guys are either over/underrated. I'll probably be making adjustments myself until I can find one of the guys at OS who bases ratings off of stats from 82games and download his.

Xbox 360's are on sale here at the moment for $177.00 (the 256mg unit) and because of that, I'm thinking about getting one. Is the 256mg a good unit? Is it something that I should spend the money on or should I wait a year or so when the PS3 will no doubt be cheaper?

What's the advantages of the Xbox? Obviously the fact the PS3 being a blu ray player is a huge advantage, but should I just ignore that and go with the cheaper Xbox?

As for your question, Slam, I'll let the more tech-savy youngins help you out with the exact specs. I got the PS3 last December and haven't been impressed with it....just no damn games outside of sports games. I'll be getting the X-Box Arcade, the one your thinking about getting, so I can have more games (Fable II, for example) that look like fun than what the PS3 is putting out. To be honest, I think Sony got in over their heads with PS3...no unique games exclusive to the system, miniscule library of games for a system that's been out 2 years. Play my PS2 like 100 times more than PS3; listen to more CDs than play games on the thing. Disappointing.

This Xbox you're talking about doesn't come with a hard drive, just the 256 memory stick. This means you won't be able to get any regular Xbox games because it's not backwards compatible without the hard drive. My solution to this is to buy a 20GB hard drive, which you can get for only $50 or so at ebay or amazon. Since I don't download movies, music, etc., with my video game systems, 20GB is plenty.

Now Xbox systems have a nagging tendency to break down/stop working from time to time, but from what I've heard, the "arcade" system has been near flawless. If anybody can give some feedback on this, it's appreciated cause I'm like a week or less away from getting the 360. Either way, definitely go with a good warranty; I know that.

The 360 and the PS3 have two different things they are excellent at. The 360 has the most robust online community if you like online gaming or buying excellent downloadable titles. The PS3 has a Blu Ray player which is huge for anyone who wants to get into HD movies. You should invest in whatever appeals to you more. I have a 360 and love it and never bit at the Ps3 just because the price has always been so expensive and Blu Ray doesn't interest me all too much . . . movies are still too expensive. The 360 also has a more robust game library at the moment.

However, DO NOT buy the SKU you referred to (with the Memory unit and no Hard Drive). You will need a hard drive in any system you buy. You'll have no way to take advantage of most of the games you play. The hard drives retail for 100 bucks or more, so you don't save money with that unit you were thinking about. It is a price point that Microsoft has for no other reason than to say (the xbox360, starting at $199).

Hopefully you will make the jump into one of the systems soon though. It's a great time for games now. So much came out last year and comes out this fall.

It would work fine slam. I'm not sure how many saves you can fit on a memeory card that big but if you need it later on you can always just buy a hard drive off of ebay like beagle said. I think you'd be fine for a good while though with the memory card.

Even playing online all it would require is 64mb of the memory card and an xbox live subscription. So you can pretty much do anything you want with that arcade xbox.

Also one more thing. This is kind of an odd place to find an Xbox but I heard that they have been selling Halo Xbox's at Hot Topics (not sure if you got one of those up in Canada) for $199. That xbox comes with a hard drive and has an hdmi port unlike the arcade version but it's a ugly puke green color so it may be a trade off. ;)

Anyway I have both a PS3 and 360. Most of my friends have 360's so I buy the majority of the games for it. However at this point there isn't much differece besides some exclusives here and there. The wireless is built in on the PS3 which is great and the Blu Ray player is about the best one you can buy so if I had to choose between the two and I didn't play a lot of games I might would lean towards the PS3. Being that I do though and I also prefer the 360 controller I enjoy my xbox for it's games and my PS3 for it's HD movie abilities.

Yes 360's internet is better but it is pricey.....PSN is free.
Also PS3's graphics are better and the games that are coming out for PS3 looks better than the new XBOX games.

Sweet pre-game highlight show package thingy during the first 10 or so seconds!! I really like that. The OKC unis look all right, but that logo is still a joke that should be seen in the WNBA not the NBA.

Ordered my Xbox360 two days ago, so it's going to be interesting to see which system I buy it for: PS3 or 360. Like I said earlier in the thread, I bought the PS3 out of brand loyalty and because I got it at a fairly reasonable price, but have been sorely disappointed in its pitiful library which seems to be getting no better. Like last year's 2K8, I'll wait til early December to get 2K9 on ebay for $30 as opposed to $60 right off the bat. Looking forward to it, but have the patience to wait two months to get it half off.

I have had 8 xbox 360's that all broke. To be fair I got it when it first came out and that was half of them. But every time I saw those three red lights I lost all my saved games and data. I have had one PS3 which works perfectly with my 46' sony xbr5 tv. The ps3 features a web browser which I use a lot, if I want to watch a video It plays perfectly on my tv using the whole screen. The Blue Ray Disc and built in Wi-fi are nice touches.

I will throw down the glove and bet I can beat anyone here at 2k9. If you wanna try your luck hit me up for a game.

Ha, that's how it's done Bob! I got a 58" Plasma and I love that thing. I use the media features for both the PS3 and 360 but I also have a HTPC hooked up directly to it so that's what I prefer most of the time for browsing and watching stuff off my other PC's.

As far as the game goes, I'm buying it for the 360 but I'm debating getting it for the PS3 as well because a few of my friends play 2K on it too.

Talkn bout the xbox, boy I know the feeling. My launch one broke and I waited a month for them to return it. During that time I bought an elite and it just red lighted on me 2 days ago. Luckily I had bought the warranty at the store so I didn't have to wait this time. It actually turned out pretty awesome since the price has dropped since I bought it. They gave me a brand new one and $100 credit. I just went ahead and spent $50 of it on a new warranty. The best part of it though is that when I got the new one home it was quite as a mouse. The one the broke you could hear the damn thing running upstairs it was so loud.

The 360 will have slightly better colors and anti aliasing. 360 video card by default runs at 2x AA, while the PS3's AA has to be programmed to be done by the cell processors which some developers don't do resulting in some blurrier textures etc...so it really doesn't have anything to do with the PS3's performance, it's more like a tattle tale on the developers themselves.

Also I am only talking about the demo's here and they were barely over 500mb, so it's quite possible that the full game could be different and have the AA turned on.

As far as control goes that's up to you I guess. I prefer the 360 controller but both worked great for me when doing iso-motion moves. Like I said I'm thinking of getting both versions to play with different people so whichever you guys get maybe we can hook up for some games.

Add me to the 360 contingent. Got the arcade and a 20GB hard drive in the mail late last week and am loving it (Fable, the original is so much damn fun for an RPG dork like me!!! Can't even imagine how cool Fable II is.) The menus are so much more user-friendly than PS3 it's not even close. You can't beat the free PS online account over the $50 Xbox live, but still, it's backwards compatible, it's got better and larger library. I'll probably still end up keeping both, but how 2K9 plays on the 360 will go a long way towards deciding if I do keep it. I admittedly suck at playing other people in games, so is there any way we could co-op and play on the same team? Or do we have to play against each other?

Anyway, having fun with 360; let's hope it doesn't destruct.

PS. The Xbox marketplace is the greatest thing! I can't tell you how many free demos of old school games I've downloaded, and I already bought Double Dragon, but what about Braid? That is such a fun, gorgeous, quirky, Super Mario Bros-on crack tripfest! If not downloaded already, it's highly recommened. The complete version is a little pricey (1200 points) compared to others, but I'm getting it soon; it's just too much fun.

I did try to keep my hard drives to hang on to my saved games but I ran into some problems. I had a lot of the downloaded content you have to pay extra for and when you download that stuff it records the serial number of the xbox you are using to prevent file sharing. So I had a new machine with a new serial number and it took me a comple days on hold with the x-box support people to figure things out. It ended up being such a hassell I just started my games over. I always bought the warrnty and ended up using my x-box money towards my ps3.

I do have a friend who has a 360 (he has only had 3 so far) and I play 2k8 all the time at his place so I could get a game with some of you cats on here who have the 360. The hardest thing about switching between the two is the x button changes places and I pretty much only use icon passing.

I got the 360 version today and just finished playing it a little bit. It's a definite upgrade over the last year's PS3 2k8. It takes me a while to get a feel for a new game. The only game I played was Cats vs Heat at Miami. I was down 14-4 after one quarter: Beasley's tough, D-Wade doesn't look for his shot enough, and they made Chalmer's much too good. The predetermined starting 5 for the Cats is: Raymond, JRich, Ammo, Gerald, and Mek; this lineup sucked for me and thus the 10 point defecit after one quarter. I started to make a nice run with: DJ, Matt, JRich, Sean, and Nazr, but was still down by 7 at half. Started 2nd half with: Raymond, JRIch, Gerald, Sean, and Mek and really got it going with steals, offensive rebounds and Sean May knocking down midrange jumpers! JD and Jermareo I brought in towards end of 3rd and finished with 1 point lead after 3. Mario Chalmers caught fire?!?! in 4th but a steady diet of Mek and May inside and JRich from 3 let me win by 4 in the end.

Graphics are great! All FT routines are dead on, even JD's! The fact that they are going to be updating the rosters and player ratings weekly makes me feel a lot better about things like Mario Chalmers being the 2nd option behind Beasley with D-Wade as a mere spectator. The arena experience left a little to be desired...it doesn't have the same energy as the NBA live demo I played. For example, instead of the same generic music played on 2k9 during the game, nba live mixes in some of those "organ-type" beats they play at arenas. Maybe American Airlines in Miami doesn't play those catchy beats, but I bet neither does New York, which has an actual organ player. Really, that's only my main complaint.

I like it a lot and will likely warm up to it even more as I play it more and get used to all they button-pushing and play-calling and such. 8.5 grade is probably about right.

We really need to try to find a time where the 360 folk can go kick some ass on XBox live as the Cats! I'm really excited about that.

I did get Live though because all of my trade ins added up to a free game pretty much......and I am suprised, Live is not bad. It is still not 2k's level, but they are getting closer! The player movements are better and all that stuff. They also have "Be a Pro" mode which is cool and the Dynasty Mode is better

So I bought the 360 a couple of weeks ago and am really enjoying it. Bought NHL2K9 and NBA2K9 and Lego Indiana Jones came with the console (which is actually a pretty fun game!!).

Love the graphics and game play of both 2K9 games, taking some time to get used to the controller though after being a playstation guy for the past 10 years!

All in all, for $177, I'm pretty happy though!

We have to put together a 5 on 5 pick up game I played one last night I went off with DJ I had 28 point, 13 dimes, 2 steals he's a beast on.2k9.

Just in case you guys haven't noticed.

They have individual sounds for most arenas, well they have stuff for us so they must have something for most every team.

During games the crowd chants "Lets go Bobcats".

In a tight game the PA starts talking to the Bobcat fans, can't remember what he says exactly. Probably telling us to get off of our asses. :p

And when someone drains a 3 the PA guy says "THREEEEEEEEE" in that annoying high pitched voice. I like it in the game though because it's specifically for us.

Btw I miss the Ric Flair whooo. Hornets used to do that for Baron back in Charlotte cause Flair lives here but they got it in the game for CP3 when he scores just like IRL.

So as not to get confused and try looking up folk that aren't there, try to specify which system you're using to play 2k9. Say either PS3 gamertag or 360 gamertag. Since chabber mentioned it, I'm wanting to do this 5 on 5 playerlock thingy in a big way but I'm 360 and I don't know who else is besides chabber, Big Slam and ziggy (who I don't think has 2k9.)

Like Big Slam, I've only had my 360 a couple weeks and I'm loving it so much more than PS3. PS3 is the much better mutli-media console, but if you just like to play games with a very user-friendly menu interface with cool download games, plus better exclusives, in my opinion, and much better game library, the 360 is king. The controller configuration is getting easier as I play, but it does take getting used to: a,b,x,y vs. the geometric shapes of Sony.

I'm playing the hell out of COD 2 and Fable: Lost chapters, but I played another 2k9 game tonight and beat the Grizzlies unlike the real guys could do in exhibition tonight. Very nice to see the arena looking like our arena and not the coliseum. You're right chabber: each arena has its own "feel"; I played at Miami in my first game and in the game at Charlotte, the music was different and the PA announcer takes into account who is the home team. For example, I swear I heard him say "J-Rich" when he made a basket, while at Miami the PA said only "Richardson" or maybe "Jason Richardson."

I agree that DJ is the better PG, but I can't get him to knock down a jumper or a basket in traffic for the life of me. Gerald has sucked pretty much for me too on the offensive end though he wears out the other team with his defense. Jason and Mek are the most solid...at least for me, with DJ and May just behind them.

Beagle use a lot floaters if your getting stuffed, or stop & pop jumpers when using DJ he's a beast if he's not matched up against a Deron/Billups/ Rose type point. Wallace does suck though because his handle is really subpar I can't get past defenders using him if he's not catching allys he is useless on O.

Just played the game one night but it is a lot harder for me to score on hof. You can't just come down the court do a dribble move and jack up a three in this game. I don't like the way they changed the iso camera which is what I was used to playing on so now I am playing on broadcast for the most part. Hopefully they will get out a quick update that has Alexis on board.

Gotta disagree on Wallace. He's nasty quick and he'll explode past his defender out of the triple threat or after a behind the back, spin or crossover. He's tall and can finish well down low even in the post so I'll rarely get blocked. I'm constantly getting and 1's with him or at least fouled if my shot doesn't drop. J-Rich is unstoppable on 2K I just lit up Boston with him for 38 points and 5 dimes.Also I swear 2K gave Okafor a sick stroke on here he can hit the midrange jumper consistently lol. What level are you guys playing on? I'm having the most fun on All Star.

I will get eaten alive if I play by myself, that's why I'm stoked for the 5 on 5 team games. It probably doesn't help that I'm getting adjusted to 360 controller, but even with a PS controller I'd struggle to press the right buttons in the right sequence to do something other than pass, shoot, call for a pick and pick and roll and that's about it on offense. I can back a guy down on the blocks and pass to cutters or open guys on perimeter if I'm doubled....therefore, with my limited skill set, that's why I think it's best for all involved for me to be Mek and just stay underneath and dunk it or tip in misses. I have a fun as hell time on defense, but I just can't do anything complicated on offense.

Cool whenever they get these servers worked out so that the 5v5 stuff doesn't lag I'm up for some games.

Of course if we can make it something like 2vs2 or 3v3 we might have a better shot at not lagging. I'm not sure if that is possible though. I'll try and check it out tonight.

Beagle: Agreed that I was having trouble getting DJ to knock down the long J - so I changed his jump shot style to Boobies and his release point is a lot easier to find!! As soon as he gets his shoulder past his defender he's damn hard to stop getting to the rack though that's for sure and he is a ball hawk.

Have you guys adjusted your game sliders at all? If so, what are you finding to be the best settings? I was shooting high 50's and even 60% from the floor so I had to dial mine back.

Also, I had some trouble when I made some trades in association mode. After I made the trades, when I was playing a game and scored, the ball could be picked up from the court and I could score again. There was no inbounds after a made basket.

Anyone else have that trouble?

BTW - The trade was Crash and Hammer for OJ Mayo and Arthur!! I'm now on the look out to trade EO50. Got to get the cash off the books so I can sign Bosh in 2010!!

Unfortunately, I'll be deprived of 360 for a week or two. I'm sending my arcade version back for a full refund to amazon and am going for the Elite since I'm having so much fun with it, especially the Live Arcade and those downloads so the extra harddrive memory is needed. I'll go through withdrawal for sure, but I'm getting a good deal for the Elite at Target, plus I feel better about having an actual store I can take the machine to if it happens to break on me (god forbid!) as opposed to either shipping it off to amazon or Microsoft for repairs. Still may take out the Microsoft warranty, but I'm definitely getting the Target one since it's realitively cheap.

Started a new season and deleted the old one. I figured that I should make it as realistic as possible, and I doubted that the Grizz would go for my Crash/Hammer for OJ/Arthur trade.

So instead I traded McMay and Brown to the Bucks for Charlie V and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. Then I traded Crash, Charlie and a 2nd round pick to the Jazz for Boozer, Brewer and a 1st round pick.

It's freaking awesome!! At the end of the season I'll look to trade EO50 for a cheaper alternate, re-sign Boozer and improve my back up SG, SF and PF positions through trade or the draft - where I will have 2 1st round picks!

That's funny I traded Crash/future 2ndround pick for Mayo dude is putting up 19 ppg, 4.1 dimes, 3 boards, and 1 steal a game. He should be rookie of the year but he has some competition along with Beasley, Love and Rose who all average double doubles. Currently 7-3 in my association on All Star even though Ray has been out for 3 weeks with a seperated shoulder after diving for a loose ball.

Slam if you can download rosters do a search for nogster and download his latest file. It's very good. He's adjusted ratings for almost every player and the tendencies of all teams and coaches plus the playbook hotkeyed plays.

As for my association I'm going to do a fantasy Bobcats team later and will probably find a way to add Mayo as well. ;)

However even in my realistic one I couldn't even help but trade Felton. I did the same thing I would have done this off season. Shopped Felton for Haslem because it's a pretty realistic trade and I'd have went after Delonte West with some of our MLE to try and outbid Cleveland.

Since he was already on the Cavs roster though I had to swing a 3 way deal. Ended up shipping out Felton, Ammo and another scrub for Haslem and West. I didn't mind because Ammo wouldn't have even gotten off the bench in my mpg rotations.

I'm a basketball junkie and usually play these games at the highest level. I had to drop down to Allstar. I couldn't stop anyone from scoring and i couldn't hit a pull up jumper over Spud Webb. They seems to block everthing. I'm going to move it up to superstar now since i've put some time into playin the game now.

Started a Season with the Cats...Had Morrison as a 6th man and he couldn't hit anything. Dropped him to a role player and he seems to play better now. Davidson brings alot of energy off the bench for me. Matt Carroll too, Had to change his shot too.
DJ is a beast, but getting to the lane isn't the problem , it's getting my shot over the bigz. I had to change his shot too. Thats not how he shoots anyway and if they can give the other top ten picks a sig shot, why not DJ?
Jason Richardson is unstoppable, he's 5th right now in Allstar voting, I'll make sure he gets there.

I changed both DJ and Mays sig shot to "basic" because they have pretty smooth jump shots and their assigned ones were way off. I also gave May Rudy Gay's FT routine because it fits him perfectly.

I also started my fantasy Bobcats association.

Slams idea of signing Bosh was very appealing. Also I really wanted to play with Mayo. So I basically went back a whole year in Bobcats history and replayed it all out in my head this way.

Bobcats take Noah with the 8th pick. We don't trade Herrmann/Brezec for Mohammad and just resign Walter at the end of the year. We still had a crappy season because of no J Rich and therefore land the #3 pick (Mayo) ;) We also signed Delonte West in FA to fill the backup PG/SG role. So before the association starts my roster looks like this with the first 8 getting the majority of the minutes and a very slight pay roll to go with it. :D

I guess thats the point with video games, You can do whatever you want. But why would you want to play through a season on a video game with people that aren't on your team in real life? i know it's a what if or wishful thinking of fans but how is it fun to score points and build stats on a game with someone thats not really on the team?

I try to play through the season and hopefully win with the people already on the team. Rigt now i'm 7-4 or 7-3, I cant find Andre Brown anywhere. But i don't need him

Changed up to Superstar and the Hornets ended my streak in a OT game (first one on 2k9 season) 100-98 with Paul hitting a midrange jumper with 2 seconds left on the clock :mad: Superstar level is perfect though you're not going to blowout to many squads unless your playing against the Knicks or Thunder.

14-4 so far in my 82 game season.

I do the same as chabber, but usually after 6 months and when I am growing bored of the game.

I start my "what if" team - that usually means I end up with Paul, Joe Johnson, Crash and EO50 as my base players!!

Those team-up games are a lot of fun, but it sucks that you can neither pick your team nor the player you want to control. Plus, the wins or losses of those games aren't recorded on your profile; all you get is some arbitrary "teamwork grade."

Is there any way to be able to pick your team and the player you control, or is it all just random?

Also, who will appear on a roster download first? Alexis or Andre Brown?

I wouldn't count on either one showing up on the rosters download.

As for your other question I think if you create a custom team match you can pick your teams but I could be wrong about that. I've had guys on my friends list asking me to play with them as certain teams but I've never actually gotten into the match with them yet due to bad timing.

You have to create a custom match to be able to play with the team you want. During the little waiting period where your waiting on guys from the lobby to join your game you can pick which player/team you want to play with by hitting the select or triangle button.

The servers are still messed up though I can usually play a ranked team match without problems with others but if I want a regular 1 on 1 match it'll play one quarter and sim to the end :mad:

I might be late but i just realized yesterday that in my Assc. mode i don't get team updates on my PS3. Meaning if a trade happens it doesn't change it during my season. I downloaded a team update yesterday and say that liston was on the roster, then i loaded my season and tried to download the rosters... wouldn't let me do it...Am eye just doing something wrong or are there no updates during the season games
