With both of them still being pretty raw, who do you think will get more PT this season?

Initially I thought Hollins, but I don't see him getting very many meaningful minutes behind Emeka and Nazr if Emeka is going to play exclusively at center. I'll say Ajinca, because he can log some minutes at power forward.

That depends on how much Hollins has worked on this off-season. I mean at the very least, he has NBA experience under his belt. Obviously everyone knows Ajinca will be a project, but I see him struggling quite a bit out of the gate as he gets accustomed to the league, I even see him getting roughed up bigger, stronger guys down low.

So I think early on we'll see Hollins as he's more of the "known commodity," though not by much...and my hopes are that bit by bit, Ajinca improves and takes over from there.

does Hollins work on his game at all he is the same player he was when he came in to the league....shit him and Ajinca are at the same place right now...he may log more minutes than Ajinca but all the frenchman has to do is work on his game and hit the weights a little and he will be worlds better than hollins

Twiggy as he's at least used to the NBA game. IMO that's going to take Ajinca a good while.

Like Ziggy said though we're probably not talking much PT assuming May (and Davidson) can man the 4 and allow Mek to stay at the 5.

I don't see either player cracking the rotation or even getting consistent burn unless someone in the frontcourt goes down. Ajinca will more than likely have a long stint in the D-League while Hollins will ride the pine. If someone did go down though I'd feel better seeing Ajinca sink or swim his rookie year. Unlike Twiggy at least he has an offensive game outside of dunking and his defensive potential is off the charts. Plus Coach Brown is saying he's showing signs of improvement in the pick up games from the past few weeks.

I see hollins as a center because I don't think he is moblie enough to cover the 4. Problem is he lacks the weight to box out for rebounds and doesn't have the savy or the hustle to make up for it. On offense he needs to be around the basket to be effective although I think he could be very useful on pick and roll dunk type plays similar to the way tyson chandler scores. On D he is a poor on ball defender but a great help defender. He has had some games in the NBA where he has had moments of promise. Larry Brown should make his game look better because what he really lacks is Jared Dudley type basketball instincts. If you watch that bodcats dunks video on youtube hollins has the one right on jemario moons head in the middle. He is a nasty dunker who is going to throw it down on some people this year.

AA is really better suited to the 3 or the 4 aganist teams with mobile power forwards. Like Hollins he can't box out for rebounds because of his weight but he will get his share due to his height. If he can keep guys like Chris Bosh from blowing by him off the dribble he may be effective as a defensive player. Both players can shoot freethrows but AA can stroke it from three. How sick is it to have a 7 footer with the largest wingspan ever in the NBA who can stroke it from three and shoot a good percentage fromt he line. He also catches the ball well which will make him a canidate for pick and roll plays.

I hope they both get time because we are blowing a lot of people out. Jemario can have some time too. In any case given thier unique talents it's going to be fun to watch.

this is really a toss-up...I think Brown is going to push for Ajinca more than Hollins, Hollins may see more times, but I think Ajinca may see a few minutes, and in more games...Overall I'm not expecting big minutes from either, but I think Ajinca will get time to develop as well as get Hollins in to play as well...

I see it like this....

Hollins 45 games 7-8 minutes a game
Ajinca 50-55 games, 3-5 minutes...

Hollins.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ajinca logs zero minutes this year. I know this is somewhat of an exaggeration, but I've thought at times that I haven't seen a player as physically unfit to play in the NBA since Manute Bol.

I know he has decent skills (unlike Manute lol) and great height and length; but unless he can add some strength, he's in serious danger of getting hurt out there.

Back to Hollins....we all know what he brings by now. I think he's doomed to suffer awkward footwork and poor shooting skills, while bringing sporadic defensive energy (LB won't tolerate his court awareness and positioning). Most of all he brings emotion, which I'm sure means absolutely nothing to Larry Brown. I do think he can guard some PF's out there. If nothing else, he is seriously strong and athletic. But I think his game is just too raw for him to earn any meaningful playing time under LB. I predict many games at the end of the bench and many games in the second row in a suit.

All in all he remains one of my favorite Bobcats, but more for his on-the-court antics than anything else; he's freaking funny! I love seeing Ryan on the court, but then again, the hope is that the team can move beyond "antics" and onto more serious bball.

Ajinca.....

As much as he sucked in summer league he still played better the Hollins. I honestly don't know why Hollins is back with this team. When has he ever been productive? Ajinca will get beat up a little, He'll stuble, But he's basically next years draft pick so why not throw him out there?

Can't not agree with that.

I get a buzz every time he checks in because I know he's going to bust his arse has hard but as awkwardly as possible and with a little luck, will let out a primal scream as he blocks a shot or throws down a dunk.

When all is said and done though, I see Ajinca getting more mpg by the end of the season - but by default.

EO50 is our starting 5 with Nazzy backing him means Hollins will be deep in the rotation.

McMay is our starting 4 and will miss a good chunk of the season (again). Davidson will back him up and LB will get frustrated with his poor D and shot selection but will have no choice but to start him with Crash and Ajinca backing him up.

Ajinca.

I see Hollins as probably a little more ready to start the season but he will not be in the Bobcat's long term plans where Ajinca certainly is. Due to that alone, if given the chance, they will lean toward Ajinca. If Ajinca is worth his draft status, he should have a steep learning curve with big long term potential. Even having said that, I don't expect much in the way of minutes or stats from him this year.

Here is what I think would be a better question:

Seeing as though Lex (heard DJ call him Lex the other day - short for Alexis no doubt and works for me!!) will probably start the season in the D and Twiggy in the NBA, who will have the most TOTALS at the end of the season?

Pts:
Boards:
Assists:
Blocks:
Steals:
Mins:

To put it into perspective, here are Twiggy's total's from last season:

Pts: 147
Boards: 107
Assists: 14
Blocks: 30
Steals: 10
Mins: 532

and just for foun:

Fouls: 96

Considering LB just said Lex might foul out in warmups it is a good thing we have 10 fouls between them and both JDs to play in the second half if they foul out.

I heard LB say that but I don't really believe that Ajinca will get nearly enough minutes to actually foul out of a game. Maybe 1 or 2 this year but I don't really think him being foul prone will be much of an issue. A smart, athletic guy like this with a coach like Brown teaching is certain to pick things up fast...

Ajinça.
This would be a better scenario, because unlike Hollins he really is in Bobcats' long term plans and it would mean that he is turning out quickly.

Im going to say [Lex] turns out better than we all think . Agreeded he starts the season slowly . But i think he catches on quick . I don't even think he even smells the D league this year as hes Browns pet project. By mid season i see him as a rotation player Playing back up behind May or Davidson , Geting twenty mins of burn per game. IF this guy comes through , it's no telling how good he could become. He's got the coach to become a All star .
