Too bad it's not a matter that we can vote on to get there because they would get there every year then. I feel they make it this year, its our time to be noticed. Having said that, injuries as always could kill us dead in the water...

I really think that either we all will be very disappointed or we make a great havoc through the league. Hell, we can make semifinals or at least epic match up against Celtics (even Pistons could be a great matchup because of Brown).

Welcome to BobcatsPlanet docend24,
I like your thoughts on the Bobcats creating havoc through the league this year. I can't wait to get this season started.

I guess there should be antoher option between playoffs and bust. All the results but playoffs don't mean bust to me. We could miss the playoffs, but put a decent performance.
And yes, since I believe we won't make playoffs, I chose bust option. Because I don't see any upgrade in our team and also I don't believe "any" coach can make such a huge difference in a team's outlook. I expect a close playoff race at best.

Welcome to Bobcats planet docend24 , You a well known poster on real GM and im looking foward to your insight hear at Bobcats planet .
With that said i have to agree with tamburello . I don't know if just the addition of Brown and two draft picks will take us far enough in a much better east to make the playoffs. I feel we still a power foward away . But i do feel we will compeate for the eight seed . I feel we increase our wins to about 39 but don't think 39 gets you in this year.

Thanks for welcome. I already had been registered here but during the surviving era I became quite so I forgot which username I used here - so I registered again. I still consider realgm to be my origin think tank but when I'm on it is too dead for me :)

I respect tamburello's opinion but I really think it is either bust or playoffs. Unless many things will go wrong aka major fail I think we will make play offs. Mostly because I have been tired of the standard "excited and then dissapointed" procedure we do every year. I think it must end some day and I hope it is this year. I even don't bother observing what NBA Draft 09 crop could offer which is usually my geekish deviation (of course it is partly because I hope we won't have our first round pick - so we basically have only second rounds to trade). Maybe it is because we have more information from team official side too. But there are too many indicators we are heading the right direction that I want to believe. And nio significant draw backs - I'm not sold on Sean May hype so it wouldn't frustrate me much when he goes down.

I really think that with the right coach (which Larry Brown can be) we can trouble anybody. We have a history of upsetting top teams in regular season and we even did bothered Celtics last year under coach Vincent. We need to make difference by winning easier (on paper) matches and then keep the high intensity in playoffs. Hopefully there won't be (many) injuries of key players ( healthy and ready May would be actually pleasant surprise - hopefully he would give Davidson and Ajinça more time to develop befoire he'll go down).
I really want to make the playoffs, but I don't want to be there just to make up the numbers. Being in the playoffs will be awesome, but not if we are a -.500 team.
That would make it hollow to me.
the best way to answer is to name the playoff teams. are there 8 other teams better than us pre-season.
celtics, pistons, 76ers, raptors, magic, cavs, heat, wiz?, bulls?, cats?

wiz are going to not be that good, bulls are terrible, and really the heat are up in the air...

I think the first 6 (Celtics through Cavs) are the only ones on that list that are pretty much locks for the playoffs.
I also think that as good as everything has looked so far, I only feel like Boston, Detroit and the Cavs are heads and shoulder better than us. Brand should be awesome in Philly but how will everyone gel? The Raptors should be good as well but how will a new post player in O'Neal blend with their established post player in Bosh? The Magic are going to be competing for home court in the playoffs but I don't really think they, on paper, are a team we couldn't beat.
I'm not suggesting we are going to be 4th in the East (I think 7th-8th is more like it), but we are going to be even better than a lot of people think. Larry Brown and this roster were made for each other. Just wait, we are going to surprise a lot of folks!

East is hard to predict this year more so than the West.
I really want to make the playoffs, but I don't want to be there just to make up the numbers. Being in the playoffs will be awesome, but not if we are a -.500 team.
That would make it hollow to me.
So you would rather see them win 41 games or more than see them make the playoffs?? ???
WOW!!! can't imagine someone saying that given what this franchise had gone through.
Just WOW!!!
I think thats why they have what you call seeding after the regular season. It means that if you make it to the playoffs you're within the TOP 8 of your conference, regardless of your record. And if that happens, it would be the greatest achievement of this franchise. And you wouldn't want that because it's hallow to you??? WOW!!!

Winning 41 games in the East makes you pretty much a lock to make the playoffs - so you pretty much answered your own question.

But it is POSIBLE in the NBA to win more than 41 games and not make the playoffs. Like GSW with 48 games last year. So you would rather have the record of GSW last year and not not make the playoffs or Atlanta who made it with 37 wins???
You wouldn't want us to make the playoffs like ATL did last season because its hallow to you?? Look at what ATL did against Boston when they pushed them to the limit, ticket sales were up, fans rejuvinated and excited, nationwide exposure and much more.. And you wouldn't want that because its hallow to you?? ohh, is it gona hurt your feelings???bohoo..:( i feel sorry for you man..
*You would agrue that east is weak and your "pretty much.." assumption is realistic, but that is beside the point.:)
*You would agrue that east is weak and your "pretty much.." assumption is realistic, but that is beside the point.:)
It's actually very much the point.
Let's see, you said:
I really want to make the playoffs, BUT I DON'T WANT to be there just to make up the numbers. Being in the playoffs will be awesome, BUT NOT if we are a -.500 team.
That would make it hollow to me.
What if we make it to the playoffs and be under .500 as you ASSUME?
You said, if this happen, "you wouldn't want it because it would make you feel hallow:(
I said this is exactly what happened to ATL last year winning just 37 games and they had a fantastic ending to their season. Wouldn't you want that to happen for all bobcats fans?? Instead you would rather win games in exchange for our first playoffs appearance.
That's my point.
I didn't assume anything and I certainly never said I assumed we were a sub 500 team. I said I really want to make the playoffs, but I don't want to be there just to make up the numbers.
You should never assume. It just makes an ass of you and me.........or in this case......
I also don't ever remember typing or reading that I typed "I wouldn't want to be in the playoffs". In fact, I think I saw I wrote "being in the playoffs would be awesome".
There seems to be some pretty basic comprehension here that you are missing?
Again, You said:
Winning 41 games in the East makes you pretty much a lock to make the playoffs - so you pretty much answered your own question.
THIS IS AN ASSUMPTION. IT CERTAINLY IS NOT YET A FACT OR A REALITY. Since the 09 season is not yet over or even statrted yet.
and then you said, "but I don't want to be there just to make up the numbers", what does the word "THERE" pertains to? It pertains to the playoffs. So basically you said, YOU DON'T WANT TO BE IN THE PLAYOFFS JUST TO MAKE THE NUMBERS."
My Advice
*READ WHAT YOU TYPE FIRST, IT HELPS.:)
I honestly don't know how much longer I can take someone seriously who:
- Thinks that Haslem is as good, if not better than Emeka Okafor
- Thinks that Beasley is big enough to play C in the NBA
- Thinks we should stay on track with hopes for the lottery year in and year out to improve
- Thought that trading Crash for Vince Carter would be a good move for us
- Thought that trading J-Rich and Dudley for Kapono, Calderon and Bargnani would be a good deal for us

Shame on the four people that said bust... this is the best year the Cats have been looking at in the franchise. Now we just have to start the season and prove it. This might just be the best year for Carolina Pro sports.

Key word their my friend, THINK.
*Maybe you should try it too.:)
I voted bust only because I don't think that the Bobcat's will make the playoffs this year. The only option was playoff or bust. I think they will be a much improved team who will be in the hunt but not make the playoffs in the much tougher east as compared to recent years. The Hawks made the playoffs last year with something like 37 wins, that is not happening this year. I think the bar will be at 42-45 wins and I don't see this team getting there with only 1 year of real coaching and the 3rd coach in three years. I hope to be wrong though. I see us with 35ish wins.

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel 39 wins this year, maybe that's good enough to make the playoff maybe it isn't but feel 39 wins this year..
