View Full Version : Camp Observations
I had the opportunity to watch the scrimmage yesterdy and have some observations that I wanted to share. If you were there, please add anything-
-WE NEED A PF. MAY IS NOT GOING TO HELP US. I know many of you have voiced your concerns about him, but this was pretty shocking. He is still pretty overweight and had no endurance. I know about the surgeries etc, but it was obvious he was not ready to play at all. We are going to get crushed by him.
-DJ looked great, wouldnt surprise me to him starting by All Star break. I was really impressed. They also discussed at the camp about DJ at the 1 and Felton at 2. Wow, not this again.
-Alexis looked raw, but has a lot of potential. He is big, but can hit the long range shot. I was really impressed with him and am excited to see him down the road.
-Larry is a winner and will make this team better. He is very detailed on the court and can tell he wants the guys to win with his system. He has a strong desire to win but also to play the game right. He was coaching both teams and was really intense of them being accurate and to play right.
Overall, i am really excited about the season. Larry could be the best addition to this team ever. I am really nervous seeing May at PF. We need a trade to happen.

You don't think May will be better as he gets his legs going again? Did anyone else observe the same?

How did Adam look? He looked good on the video!
Adam looked well, a lot better than expected. He hit a couple nice jumpers and didnt favor his knee at all. His endurance was better and he looked pretty relaxed out there.
I hope May gets better, but I just dont see it happening with us. I dont dislike the guy and really hope he bounces back, but for the sake of the team we need to move on without him. He obviously isnt commited to the team as he is still really out of shape. I realize his build will never really allow him to be skinny, but you will be surprised when you see him and how out of shape he is. We need to pursue other options.

Seeing your thoughts on May really don't bother me too terribly much. I wasn't expecting much from him in the first place. You can see in the post scrimmage interview that Brown was a little iffy on his position.
I'm glad Davidson looked pretty solid out there. He's better than putting Crash out there to get clobbered

I agree that we need to upgrade the PF position, but how would you guys feel about Davidson getting the chance to start? I think he'd do a fairly decent job in a starting role.

Methinks Jermareo has the skills and ability to get it done soon in the league, I just worry he might try to do too much like he did last year and play scattered and frenetic. Still, I'm sure there has been significant growth from rookie year to this year, hopefully mentally as well as physically.

I agree. I think that Coach Brown has the abilities to help Davidson "not let what he can't do get in the way of what he can." He won't be the best power forward in the league, but I think he's worth a shot.
I'd never be one to rely on May. It would be great to have him healthy and in shape this year the same way it would have been great the previous 3 years. Might not happen.

He's got that pretty sweet mid range J that he likes to take (a little more ofthen than he should) and he has nice length and is athletic.
If he can just be taught/learn to box out and be more physical to allow easier rebounding for EO50, Crash and Swish then I would have no problem starting him.
So long as he can lay a body on his opposing player and keep them off the glass and doesn't continually allow the other team easy boards (same with Twiggy)
