Preseason: Charlotte Bobcats at Atlanta Hawks 10/13

Monday night we get to face off with the Atlanta Hawks

It would be nice if we got a win, but more importantly I'd like to see a few more baby steps in the process of grasping LB's system.

Things that I'll be looking at are:
* Ray and DJ. How their minutes are distributed and who is looking the most effective running the show
* Andre Brown. His rebounding and defense may push Jermareo Davidson even further down the bench
I just noticed after some googling that in the last 3 games of last years regular season, Andre Brown put up 19pts/13reb, 16 pts/4 reb, 13pts/ 18 reb... We may have actually stumbled onto a decent player here
* Sean May's conditioning.

The Hawks are a team thats definitely headed in the right direction, they have some solid pieces in place with Joe Johnson, Al Horford and Josh Smith... The next televised game will be against the Hawks on the 18th. I guess, that is, unless the other teams are airing them.

Expect Larry Brown to get a long look at Andre Brown in this game. This could very well be a make-or-break tryout for him. Bonnell is reporting that LB wants to make cuts after this game. That will be interesting to see just how many cuts he makes. I wouldn't be surprised if he looks to cut someone who already has a contract.

Been out and just saw the Halftime score. Sounds like we have something going tonight. Solid game from Richardson, and Felton has the Assists coming nicely. From the minutes played, I'd expect DJ to play most of the 3rd to see how he responds and if he can step up. Alexis seems to be getting a Foul for every minute he plays! Damn fellow, cut that out!

This could be what we've been hoping for: taking those baby steps towards a better team through the preseason and then being a real team by the time the season starts. It could also be that the Hawks suck, but I'm thinking that it has to do with us playing better. Especially when you look at the rebounding.

I think I read in a Bonnell article somewhere that Brown wanted to try Dudley at PF. Obviously it won't work against every team, but it seems that May won't work against any team.

Ray played a good game, but tried to do too much late in the game. That foul was stupid. That is the kind of foul which he commited last season and drove people nuts. LB will hold that against him.

That's alrite...MUCH better game than the previous two. Preseason is all about progress, and I think there's no doubt we "saw" some tonight.

IMO the two PGs both played well not counting the crappy shooting; combined they had 17 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 steals with 4 TOs. Get them up to a combined 45% or so in shooting and we're sitting pretty at the 1.

Well, the game was in control until the second unit (or was it the third unit?) was in and let them come back. Either way, that group got a good amount of playing time in a game that doesn't matter.

More importantly, the team as a whole played better. That's all anyone can ask for at this point. We should have had this game, minus some mistakes late, but now's the time to make those mistakes if they're gonna make them.

I didn't see the move, so I can't say how bonehead it was. However, you can't say that Felton cost the team the game when he had the highest +/- on the team. Remember there were about 90 more possessions other than the last one.

The shooting from our pgs was pretty awful, but they were very active in helping the team. I especially liked seeing Felton assist Augustine a couple of times. What better way to show solidarity than assisting for the guy competing for your spot.

Agreeded Mek can't let that go . Best game we played so far this year .We will kick thairs at home next week . TOOOOO many bad calls . Just look at the diferebce in free throughs. Auugstine plays a decent two. Wonder what the deal is with Morrison , Davidson, Hollins, None of the three can play defence . All so Dudley playing at the end of the game instead of May. I look to see all those guys on the trading block be for season starts.

It seems like Andre Brown would make a good back-up PF (something I'm not sure we have either). The best play at PF that we've seen has been from Dudley, but I'm not sure if that's gonna work night in and night out.

Agreed on Dudley. He has the heart to play PF some, but cannot do it night in and night out. He just doesn't have the sufficient size/muscle to play with some of the more powerful big 4s.

Yeah at the PF position we are hurting there for sure. Sean May scored 6 pts with 0 rebounds 1 steal and 2 TO's and a foul in 12 minutes, and Brown did a little bit better but not great. That's just not going to get it. Felts did OK and Jrich was on fire. GW was himself and I was impressed with DJ and Dudley... :cool:

Welcome to Bobcatsplanet Cyprus, With Morrison i think it's more about giving the kid a night off that bad knee. Morrison still can't move well but Brown said his self hes miles a head of where he was just eight weaks ago . I would not right him off til about mid season . If he don't preform by then i would say his carer is all but over.


Davidson and or Hollins might be in line to be cut as early as tomorrow. I don't think either is impressing much at all . Them along with May is on the trading block for sure if it's any takers for any or all those guys . I have a feeling Carroll is on the block to if we could get value in return for him. Didn't even realize there was a game tonight 'til I saw the final score on the bottomline. Great play by play by you guys tonight!! Seriously, I feel like I got the gist of the game, and for me, this being a preseason game, that's enough for me.

Very happy about outrebounding them tonight...that was the stat I was happiest about. Shooting/FG% continues to suck...don't know what's going on there since I haven't seen or heard a game. Are they still just jacking up jumpers which coach called them out on after the first two games? Can they not finish at the rim? Looks like JRich had his best game thus far. GW struggled with FGs, but numbers looked pretty good. Mek with only 6 pts? Hmmm.

Very interested to see the rotation for next game. Got tickets, but won't make the drive for a preseason game. If anybody wants them, they're yours. Won't be upset by any means, but hopefully they can get their first win, or at the very least, not lose by 38 points to the Magic again...

From our bunch of PFs - Ajinça, Brown, Davidson, May (alphabet order) - nobody is a starter caliber player right now (imho). is it really like this that Dudley is heading to win this starting spot? And what he can do there? Questions, questions.
