View Full Version : Players unhappy with Brown?
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

Anyone else heard about this rumor? Is there any truth to it?
I found this ESPN's Bobcats Preview
Ric Bucher writes:
"The damage of the New York debacle on Larry Brown's reputation is reflected in the Bobcats already complaining about his system. Never seen that happen to him this quickly before. That is usually followed by Larry demanding new players, and it's usually downhill from there. "

I think it's total BS and continued proof that the national, and even the local, media know nothing about us.

I read that and was surprised. But last night during the Lakers game, there was a segment where LB took out Ray for DJ and the announcers were saying that Ray was jawing at him and was visibly upset. Did anyone else hear that or see it? It was during the 2nd half.

That's what happens when you have 2 quality point guards at your disposal,it was LB's decision to pick D.J. in the draft MJ and Higgins were all for Lopez till Brown pulled a sideswiper and eventually convinced MJ and Higgins to select D.J.So it's no secret that Brown is thinking of replacing Ray eventually,so why would Ray get upset in the first place.

I became bored and irritated watching during the 3rd qtr. and I didn't see it, but they should ship Raymond's ass out for that bullshit; you should at least be a decent player if you're going to jaw with your coach about being pulled, and Raymond isn't in the ballpark of decent this preseason. Clean house with this bunch of no-accounts!!! Only players that deserve a paycheck are Jason, Gerald, Jared and Andre Brown (Alexis is too much of a project to blame).
I don't see how this team can possibly win 30 games this year, but I hope they can find a way...

Wow...take a BS rumor, pick an "incident" heard on the RADIO and then make that player the scapegoat? Talk about creating a straw man.
And to think I used to laugh at the NYK fans for doing this.
I can't wait for the next thread to bash Brown for "bitching about the roster" (another "charge" made by the "experts") when all he's said was what virtually every poster has agreed with...that we need a legit PF.

Hang tough Spectre. You know we all love the team and want the Cats to be winners. We all just had such high hopes/expectations with the LB hiring and seeing such dismal early results, even tho it is preseason, gets everyone a little edgy. Some want no changes and to give it time, some want a major overhaul ASAP, and some want something in between. But please, dont compare us to KNICKS FANS just yet. We haven't dropped to that level of dissention and cannibalism!....yet.

if we lose more games this year than last i think im gonna throw myself into a black hole

It's worse than that mate.
It's like Knicks fans and Raps fans got together, drank way too much cheap wine, bumped uglies, made little babies and they grew up Bobcats fans.
It's sickening how quickly some of the fans around here have turned on the players and the team.
I would rather loose every preseason game and have the coach make the best possible decisions about players....I'm more concerned with our team making the playoffs than anything else...from the preseason games it looks to me that the players are starting to understand the systems but passing/turnovers are still a problem....with the team set and rotations set this problem may evaporate....I'm wating to see what our record is after 10-12 along with how the players that remain on the roster have adapted to the LB game plan...

That still doesn't warrant creating this BS issue.
It's obvious that the so called expert tried to throw some sh*t against the wall to see if it would stick, because EVERY article and EVERY interview so far has our players applauding bringing in Brown...Felton (who it MUST be!) even more so than most.
Look at Bonnell's article from today...does this sound like someone bucking against the coach?
Brown shows Felton ‘tough love' (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/292/story/271603.html)
Everything the kid says in that article is exactly the attitude you want from a guy who has to run the point under Larry Brown. He might in the end "flame and burn", but to disparage the guy like has been done in this thread is pathetic.

Wow, that sounds awful.
Perhaps then I should assert that I for one think this team is fine. I think we could use a legit PF, but I think we'll be fine. I think Larry Brown doesn't give two $hits about winning games that don't matter, but instead about player development. This is evident by the line-ups he uses at significant times in games. I think there are plenty of us who don't see the roof of the Cable Box falling, yet, but Slam, Spectre and others pretty much sum up our feelings nicely, so there's not need to further comment.
In regards to the Bucher comment, it's clearly a bunch of BS along the lines of the latest news I heard, "Ric Bucher likes to have sex with Dolphins."
Agree 100%...it is just fertilizer from an unfertile mind...

Everybody that's freaking out because we're 0-7 in the PRE-SEASON needs to calm down. LB will make us a better team and the players know this. ESPN and the media just try to throw BS rumors around about us because they DON'T KNOW anything about us.

I couldn't agree any more with this comment. The purpose of the pre-season for the Bobcats should be about developing the players and getting adjusted to the new coach. They don't count anyway and we have made good progress already.

I read somewhere thet ever L Brown team looks like crap all of the preseason and the first 20 games of the regular season . His first year coaching that team . I want this team to go to the playoffs . But more than the playoffs i want a system put in place thet will last for years to come . You can't change a whole systen overnight. So if we just get better as a team the wins will come.

Anyone that follows UNC basketball knows better about Felton. He may not be the best PG in the league right now, but there's no denying that he has a great attitude and work ethic. I would be shocked if he were to ever complain about his coach or berate him.

Mr. Bonnell, you have have been around the team. Is this info true? Are the players already unhappy?
Rick Bonnell | Oct 22, 2008 10:51:55 AM
I really respect Ric Bucher and consider him a friend. But I'm around this team daily and I think his assessment is about as off as off can be. The players understand they're being coached for the first time in a year and they appreciate it. Is it rattling at times to be corrected so often? Absolutely. But they know Brown is making them better.
/end this ridiculous thread.

Eh. I didn't make it clear enough, I admit, but my response about Felton was based on IF, the conditional IF, Raymond had given lip to coach about being taken out. Before I stated that, I admitted to not having seen it, so it was all based on what ohara read, and IF it was true.
I don't back down from the other statements I made on that post though.
*******
As a disclaimer, my post had nothing to do with the Bucher thing. I don't need Bonnell to tell me Bucher doesn't have a clue what goes on in Charlotte, he's got his nose so far up Kobe's sphincter nothing else matters to him. I've never thought the coach/players relationship has been anything but good...it's just the talent isn't there no matter how hard coach "coaches 'em up."
Anyone that follows UNC basketball knows better about Felton. He may not be the best PG in the league right now, but there's no denying that he has a great attitude and work ethic. I would be shocked if he were to ever complain about his coach or berate him.
Agreed. For those of you that remember, Felton was basically the only player to openly and without condition support Matt Doherty at Carolina when no one, and I mean no one (even the AD) else was supporting him.
I have never seen or heard of Felton complaining about his coach at any level.
Even last year, did we hear Felton complain? Not that it wouldn't have been warranted...
