playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

I want to put an end to all this nonsense that we are so much worse than last year or that we need to get completely different players and start again, etc.
I took last years stats for preseason and compared them to this year:

The big picture here is:
* Our record is not that much worse, we could easily have 2 wins this preseason and have the same record as last year
* Larry Brown is experimenting more with different line ups than Vincent did. We are playing our bench a lot more, which causes some disruption in the flow of the game
* We are scoring less, as expected given Brown's offensive game mentality (less 3 pointers)
* Our FG% and 3 Pt % are down, not surpised here, same as above
* We took same amount of 3 Pts, a bit of a surprise
* We have gone to the line much more (244 vs 163), our FT% has dropped though
* Our average loss dropped for this year
* We are rebounding better, more steals, more blks
* We are struggling with turnovers, highter turnover differential. This is expected as we adjust
The results are expected, we are improving on defense, taking more free throws. The missing piece here is for our our offense to start clicking together. This should be a matter of time.
HOW DARE YOU APPLY LOGIC TO THIS DISCUSSION.
I'm disgusted.
very good post. but we still need a pf IF we are talking about playoffs with this team. i thought the whole outlook was that we are going to be one of the 8 best teams in the east. without a contributing 4, not 4 by committee, we will not be any better record wise than we were last year as the east has improved.

I agree we need a 4, but this same team minus DJ, Ammo & May's 7 minutes went 18-14 to close out the season once they started ignoring the Idiot...at least according to Doug Collins last night.
Common sense says that this same group playing under an actual competent coach should easily equal that.
Common sense says that this same group playing under an actual competent coach should easily equal that.
Add in the application and focus the entire team put in over the summer, and before too long we'll all hear and see that famous Larry Brown "click" as things fall into place.
we went 2-6 not 6-2 last season.
PS: by the way, why don't you recalculate this years stats but this time take out that first game against the Magic which is obviously and outlier and affects the rest of the numbers in a big way. You will see that many things will look quite different and for the better after that.

If you take out the game against the Magic, here's what it looks like:
2008 Preseason Bobcats (Record: 0 - 8 )
Avg Points Score: 89.86
Avg Points Against: 96.71
Avg loss: 6.85
FG %: 40%
FG Att: 558
3 Pt %: 29%
3 Pt Att: 28
FT %: 78%
FT Att: 203
Rb/GM: 37
Asst/GM: 15
Stl/GM: 9
Blk/GM: 4
TO/GM: 17
TO Diff: -9
The biggest change is obviously the margin of our losses, droppoing to 6 points per game. We're still in the "red", but those wins will come
