We're on Tip-Off's Eve for the Bobcats and I have the heebie jeebies fellas. I mean I feel like I crossed paths with a black cat while walking under a ladder. Bad vibes right now. First Jermareo gets cut, a kid I liked and thought had some promise but possibly destined for another stint in the NBADL. Next Adam Morrison cuts his hair. I'm not saying it's a Samson thing but dude has had long hair for years. Maybe he's trying to get his rookie year and last year's injury off of him? Who knows but it's a trademark and it's gone. Finally, I come in to the office this morning and my Gerald Wallace bobble head is knocked over and his head is laying beside his body. For a bobble head it looks tragic.
I can put Gerald's head back on and Adam's hair can grow. We can, and have signed a player to replace Davidson but I still feel so nervous about this Bobcats season. I've thought we have the players and now the coach all off season. The summer league came and went with nothing exciting. No terrific plays, no break out performances from Jermareo, Dudley, Hollins, Ajinca or DJ. Thankfully also no injuries to speak of. Training camp came with the guys coming together, listening to Coach Brown, gelling as a team, well our core at least. Then the preseason games. Whoa, 0-8 with 2 games going to overtime, no one plays great, everyone in the national media says we're doomed even with the aging HOF coach. Good grief Bill Simmons just said we were about to become the Knicks if the Knicks get better.
Someone calm my fears. Also, half-heartedly I'm saying bad luck when I have a suspicion of things going bad because of bad choices, like this is the team's own doing but at the same time I'm saying, we are good we just haven't won like we should yet. I'm excited, looking forward to watching the game tomorrow night, even more excited about going to the game Saturday night, but I have seen too many black cats, walked under too many ladders, broken too many mirrors, stepped on too many cracks, figuritively speaking for my Bobcats world to have a good outlook this year. I want to be positive I just can't!
