Monday Night we have this season's version of the Larry Brown reunion tour part I of XXXII.

Its also the return of Fabio... By the way, he is averaging 13ppg, 4.5 reb and shooting 66% from the field in the Pistons first couple of games this season. Not bad eh ??
Even during the biscuit era/error we managed to be fairly competitive with Detroit, so I have no doubt that we will hold our own against them with Larry Brown running the show.

If you'd like to spy on what the Pistons' fans are saying, then I recommend
http://www.need4sheed.com
and
http://www.detroitbadboys.com

These 2 blogs are an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.

So what do you think guys? Are we walking away from Monday night's game 2-1

I'm glad he is doing well. But I know how angry I will be when he will be killing us. Biggest lost of Idiot era.

Man I miss Walter Herrmann, It will be a good thing to watch him play again, I wish there was a way we had him back. This will be a tough game for us as always when we play Detroit, we are 4-10 against Detroit all time and 3-4 all time here at home. We were 0-3 against them last season with the biscuit as coach, 0-1 here at home. Its time for some payback against the pistons. We are 1-1 this season, 1-0 at home and Detroit is 2-0 this season 0-0 on the road. Lets "Git er done" as Larry the Cable guy says... Go Bobcats!!!!

That Iverson trade will work out best for us :D neither Nugs, not Pistons. These players are traded, hence I don't think they will play. We have a huge chance to steal a win tonight.

And yes, as the eternal Walter Herrmann fan of the forum, I'm very very glad to see him performing well. And believe me, this has never been a surprise to me. When he was rotting at our bench, when he was traded to Pistons, when he was a towel guy in Detroit, I've remembered how great he was at Unicaja Malaga, at Argentine national team. Go Fabio, go Bobcats.

Certainly, those wins don't build a lot of confidence. However, every team is on the other end of adversity. So, you have to take advantage of the situation when you can.

This game is almost a carbon copy of the last game we played against a top caliber team.
We showed for a time we could compete with Cleveland and now tonight we did the same with Detroit. Our problem is that when Detroit put the pressure on our team caved and fell apart. Faster more athletic teams are going to be a problem for us it appears.

I was not keen on the idea of getting an old man to come to Charlotte and play PF but at this time I think that if Antonio McDyess is available we try to sign him.

I just gotback from the game. we desperatley need a big man. OKAFOR Sucks and he looks scared that somebody will touch him when he dunks(which is rare)
Again, my boy Morrison was a beast, when he got the ball which brings me 2 my next point.
We have 3, yup THREE, shoot first points guards. DJ Ray and Shannon all shoot first before pass. I cant even begin to tell you how wmany times Morrison was open but DJJ didn't have his head up or he shot the ball.
I am extemley ticked off over all this. We should have destroyed the Pistons with no Billups or Dice.

J-Rich was not feeling it on defense tonight...Crash looked like he wanted to pick-up where he left off Saturday night...Oakefor (fill in the blank)...Jared should not have started w/ the lineup we faced tonight...Ray was not impressive, my fingers are crossed regarding his hamstring

What we need is something that is so hard to find in the league. We need a big man who can score consistently with his back to the basket and rebound as well. More importantly I don't believe we have the pieces to offer to another team in order to obtain that big man. Larry said we have our best chance to win when J-Rich, Crash, and Ray are playing at an elite level. I don't think that would be necessary with a competent source down low.

BIGCatBobcat
11-03-2008, 10:42 PM
I tend to agree with Ammofan. We know that we need a scoring big man. Mek is good for easy baskets, I along with everyone else, want Mek to throw it down and play like a beast but it looks like he's tentative. It was tough to watch because they were just throwing up garbage. I know LB wants them to drive but these guys need to learn what to do once they get there. These guys put their head down and go. Give them all goggles or something. Crash hit the floor a million times, got popped in the mouth a couple times. It's just a matter of time before he gets another concussion the way he has to play if Dudley is going to play so far out. Sean May is the fulcrum this team turns on right now and that pisses me off more than I can communicate. My comment to the guy sitting beside me is he should be forced to dress then rather than hang out on the end of the bench, get on a stationary bike and ride it the whole time there is action on the court, fast breaks he keeps pace and pedals his ass off. It's not heavy impact on the knees or anything, I don't think.

Refs hurt us a little in terms of momentum and inconsistant calls but what are you going to do? Quit playing sloppy, quit swiping at everything that gets within arms reach. Learn to play against the refs as well as the other team when things get like that. It's frustrating but come on, unless it's blatant favoritism you just need to suck it up.

Big question marks right now: rebounding and assists. How do we not get more assists? I know it's a 2 part stat: pass and score. Hit the shot. Are the guards driving too deep and making bad passes? I made another random comment: DJ they don't all have to be acrobatic. We don't have to say oooo every time you drive. Drive and kick, drive and oop, drive and bounce pass to one of your guys on the low block, drive and give it to your pick and roll guy. Mek isn't sitting there waiting on passes enough for me, he doesn't roll well enough from the top of the key. He hasn't really learned any offensive skills. He really hasn't had a big-man assistant yet. He probably learned more from Calhoun than he has in the NBA. It's just tough to watch and has to be tough to keep playing hard when nothing really works out the way it's drawn up or the way you imagine while you're creating.

dav7z
11-03-2008, 11:19 PM
I think our points are all starting to learn the system. With DJ a little behind Felton and Brown on the defencive side of the ball. Brown had a nice game and really looked good in the 2nd. Felton was a step slower a i could tell hes was in pain , You got to respect his desire. DJ has to get his head up and make the pass. But im begining to wonder about how good is his handle.
Mek looked sceard and seemed to get worse after the teck on Wallace, instead of maning up. He lets tough players get in his head. Wallace killed Mek on the board . No way that should happen . Rebounding and responding to tough play is big concerns. Dudley is just to small to play the four. A Brown is tough but not starting material.
Swish had a game from hell that happens.
Over all we did some good things . We geting better at making the extra pass . And moving wothout the ball . We played tough and physical til that teck. Things fell apart . We should beat the knicks next game if we continue to try and get better.

Oh, poor Bobcats. Honestly, this team needs to be blown up and MJ needs to bring someone in to put this team together. This team is a bunch of parts that can only really compete on a talent basis, which means against about 4 or 5 teams in the league. Forget team elements, any real TEAM is gonna wipe the floor with us.

This team needs PROSPECTS also. Not only is the team bad, but no one has any real value on the market either. This is why you draft guys like Lopez, Bayless, or Arthur instead of Augustin and Ajinca.

We paid Okafor alot of money to rebound and defend for us. Anybody thinking that money was going to any sort of offense was fooling themselves. We have to get a feature 4. Badly. We are undersized at a few positions, and still have guys out of position. Can't do that in the league. The Bobcats need to make some moves and rebuild. No point in getting anything from FA when we don't have great pieces from the draft. Start over.

Not only was this game bad, but I have a headache from the shrill lady beside me letting out no less than 30 "Deee-troit Bas-ket-ball"

Like dirt in a wound. That does suck. I sat on the same row as a couple Piston fans, but they were civil, so I was lucky in that respect.

As far as the game, I was pretty disappointed. As flat as they looked early on, for them to make that run late in 2nd qtr and early 3rd, and then lose it that quickly to open 3s by Detroit? That sucked. The ultimate insult was watching Will Bynum and Co. turn the game into a rout while their starters were resting on the bench; that was bad.

These games against elite teams are becoming a broken record: we hang for a while; scratch and claw to keep it close; then they make some open 3s and it's double digits before you know it, and it's lights out.

Gameballs to JD, GW, Ammo, and Shannon Brown who made me go 'Kyle Weaver, who?' Also glad I stayed so I could see Lexy get his first career points!!!! (Yes, he got posterized later by a no-name Piston, but we all know it's a building process with Lexy.)

I'm afraid of what awaits us when the Hornets come to town....jeezus that's likely to be so so ugly:( A MUST win against the Knicks, that's for sure on Wednesday.

Thats a game we could win . Agreeded it's a game Brown wants badly. Though we have no size . I just wonder if May could help in this game after a week of dubble carido and dubble weight lifting and running extra wind sprints . I doubt a weak would make that much of a difference but a few more boards and a little bulk around the basket could only help. A long with a fifteen footer to pull Randolph away from the basket could only help.
But we screwed on the boards all year till we get a p/f.

Okafor, Tim Duncan and Dwight Howard are the only three players that have averaged 10 and 10 for the past 4 years.

Okafor is never gonna be a dominant big man. He isn't Howard. He isn't shaq. Get that thought out of your heads now or you will be disappointed. He is what he is. an above average Center that is consistent in what he gives you.

Quit complaining about it. He's hardly as bad as everyone makes out... and he isn't going to be Dwight Howard. reset your expectations and realize he is what he freakin is. WE ARE NOT OVERPAYING FOR OKAFOR!

CMc$, I was thinking that same thing! Who is this guy, and why is he kicking our butts? He looked like a friggin' All-Star!

Will Bynum is pretty good for a back-up PG. He really should have been in the league a long time ago. He is the reason GaTech played in the national championship game against Oakefor's Huskies a few years back. Fortunately/Unfortunately I think his playing time will go down with the acquistion of Iverson.

I really agree with Mustachio here. It's not the subject for this game thread, but Mek is not nearly as bad as he is made out to be here. It was just a terrible matchup for him last night against Sheed; he couldn't get boards for being on the perimeter to guard him. Mek is doing just fine 3 games into the season.
