Today, the Pistons traded Billups, McDyess, and Cheikh Samb to the Nuggets for Allen Iverson. However, McDyess was reportedly just included in the deal for financial reasons and his contract WILL be bought out and won't play for the Nuggets.
I think the Bobcats need to make a run at McDyess to take the PF spot that's much needed. He would provide defense and scoring in the post and has a nice mid-range jump shot that would extend the defense and open up driving opportunities that Larry Brown loves. What do you guys think?

If he is bought out, we would be INSANE not to make a run at McDyess

From ESPN.com 'It remains to be seen how McDyess' status is resolved, as the 34-year-old reportedly has no interest in playing for any team other than the Pistons, meaning McDyess could choose to retire or negotiate a contract buyout with Denver. '
Not good news for us!

If we get him, we have to let Sean May know it's McDYESS not McDONALDS
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

Hard to say if he would benefit us. Don't know much about him, but based on his stats he seems to more of an offensive threat than defensive. He shot between 46% - 52% and he also didn't take any 3s and had very few turnovers. However, he had less than 1 blk per game and 7 rebounds ppg in the same period.
Larry Brown coached him in Detroit. I trust that if we get him or don't get him it would be for a good reason.

If he is bought out, we would be INSANE not to make a run at McDyess My worry is that if McDyess didn't want to go to a large market team like Denver, I doubt he would want to come to Charlotte. It is possible that McDyess would be happy to play for LB but he seems happy in Detroit. I agree that the Bobcats should at least approach Detroit and McDyess. Can McDyess log a lot of minutes at this point in his career? How will his health be if he should have to log plenty of minutes? He is nearing the end of his career so can he be what we need at this time?

If he's bought out, he'll try to sign w/ a contender or wait his 30 days and go back to DET.

Any word if AI is playing here tonight for DETNo AI won't officially be a Piston until Wednesday. If you ask me Denver is going to be much improved from this trade. I don't know if Detroit can be any better with two prolific scorers than Denver was. I guess time will tell. Still, I think there were better deals out there for the Pistons than the one they have now made.

Where did McDyess say that he didn't want to go to Denver?
My understanding of it is that he's gonna get cut by Denver for financial reasons, not because he didn't want to be there. He'll get signed by somebody and will likely come out nicely financially with this trade once he's bought out and then re-signed.
I think he can log enough minutes to seriously help us out at this stage.

Acording to what ive been reading he dont want to play for any one but the Pistons.
I don't think he has any instrest playing for any one else. At age 34 we couldn't sign him over one year if he wanted to play for us. I just don't it would be good for either party us or him.

Ah, thanks Dav. I can understand him still wanting to play in Detroit.
Maybe we can sign him and trade him to Detroit for Walter Herrmann!
If you ask me Denver is going to be much improved from this trade.

Denver's not really a large market...2.5 million vs CLT 2.3 million.
But I agree, I don't see McDyess wanting to play here, unless LB had something to do with it.

Well the Nuggets waived Juwan Howard; so maybe they're keeping Dice.
Juwan Howard?

Yeah seriously...hard to believe he got that kind of contract. I don't want him anywhere near this team
Which brings up another question:
Which group of players represents the most NBA franchises:
Fab 5 or LJ's Runnin' Rebels?
I'm guessing Fab 5 by a large margin.
Maybe here's a better question:
Which Fab 5er represents the most franchises: Howard or Rose?
