View Full Version : New Orleans Hornets at Charlotte Bobcats 11/7

I give the over/under on the announcers screwing up and calling the Bobcats the Hornets at 3 tomorrow night.
The George Shinn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Manson) Hornets with CP3 come to town tomorrow night ( is it just me that breaks out into a cold sweat at the thought of DJ trying to guard Chris Paul ? ).
The last time that we played the Hornets we saw about 20 of these:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgiXJ2pxsY0
Well ... It felt like 20 of them.
I'll be at the Cable Box tomorrow night in section 225 row B. I'll be the crazy guy with his 6 year old son screaming "Fine Ham Biscuit" and "Bench Jeff McInnis":biggrin: Stop by and say Hello if you'd like.
What are you guys thoughts on Friday night's matchup?

What time do you think you'll get there?
We should meet up before the game or at half. I'll be with Keetch.

I'll probably be there 10 to 15 minutes before tip, Will both of you be in the "Keetch Seats"? I hear that those seats are so good that you can count the individual beads of sweat glistening off of Natasha's belly

Hey I've been watching the NBA since about 1893 I think and finally I felt I had the means to do something completely irrational and buy these hyper-expensive (for me) tickets. It's a bucket-list kind of thing :P I think of myself as the Bobcats Jack Nicholson, only 4th row.
Last year I gave alot of them away to friends and clients but this year with the economy as it is I figured "screw that" I'm gonna be greedy and either use them or sell them. I'll actually use less than 1/2 I guess.
I've gone to games with Dnbman and Beagle and have had a great time with both guys. I greatly enjoy their company. If there's any chance a BCP regular wants to go sit with a cranky old 50 something, I'm your guy! If I can take a family member that couldn't care less, I can sure take a BCP friend who does! One way or another, I'm taking someone or the tix are getting sold; and when they get sold; I'm spending $$$ to watch the game on tv.
I'm happily married though, so gorgeous women need to please not apply.
Ziggy lets meet up. I'll be there around 6 looking for food to consume.

I'm a next door neighbor in 215 row J. My wheelchaired cousin is coming with me to the Hornets game, so I won't be there tomorrow, but in the future you can stop by and give a hidey-ho, or I can drop down and see what's up. I think Mustachio and Bigcatbobcat are in 214 also. We'll all have to have a "rooftop" meeting soon as a precursor to the BCP night out vs. Portland.
************
Just to meet the mythical ziggy, I'll do my best to get up to see you and ziggy jr. I'll be wearing a Cats shirt of one sort or the other, but I'll likely stand out more for my heighth, my slim frame, and my unkempt facial hair!
***********
Keetcho, if you haven't already committed them, how's about me and you for the Nuggets game this coming Tuesday? I'll probably go with my cousin to the Jazz game on Friday because he likes to tagalong on weekend games, but that'll likely be my last game for a while since I'll be having the bloodpump worked on up in Baltimore. If you have plans for them already, no prob, just looking for a nice send-off before I'm up in that wilderness between Wizards and Sixers fans.....yes, I'm looking for sympathy here:p
***********
As for the game, every rational indication points towards a slaughter, but the fan in me says we might be able to pull out a shocker. Yes, the CP/DJ matchup has nightmare written all over it, but the key is how "on" their shooters will be; I think if they're not red hot, and Mek can limit Chandler's pick and roll alley oops alluded to via ziggy video, it's possible to walk out happy.

Beagle: I had committed the Denver game to a friend. Let me see what I can do though.

a bit of both Hammer's D has been the best on our team surprisingly plus they are in foul trouble
0 points and 1 dime for CP3
Did we really just hold the Hornets to 7 points in one quarter? That's incredible. I think that may be a record for points against in a quarter we've allowed in the history of the Bobcats.

Good first half. We really attacked loose balls. Carroll played very well, likely wanting his place in the rotation. The DJ/Matt/Adam/Andre/Nazr line early in the 2nd quarter worked well, even if they didn't necessarily hit all of their shots.

The team played very well-rounded basketball. Everyone played okay at worst. They played together and they didn't try to force shots to get back into the game. They let it come to them. I assume this is Larry's "right way," and I look forward to seeing it in the future.

Exactly. We're in a great position at the 1 for arguably the first time in our history...let's not be so quick to go back to where we were.
Besides, it's become pretty evident DJ needs some time to work on his defense. It'd be wrong to him and the rest of the team to throw him to the wolves at this stage.
Really wish I could have seen the 4th though; on the offensive side it sounds like he played like we know he can.

Best game ive been at sence the Laker win. Hammer and Morrison was beast along with Felton. Hammer and Morrison played better than Swish and Wallace over all.
You starting to see Browns trade mark on the guys . They seem to be getting better ever game . And Brown calling plays at the end of a quarter or putting in defencive guys in when needed to get a stop, Stops and gains points through out the game.
Any one of you other Bobcatsplanet guys notice the old fat guy in the handy cap section with the orange Bobcats shirt on in section 214. Any way that was me and my wife screaning our heads off . I was hoping to see another Bobcatsplanet member.

I had a great time at the game tonight, not only did we get a 'W' against the universally despised (at least around here) Hornets, but I also got to meet the legendary duo of Keetch and DNBman (both great guys).
A couple of things that jumped out at me in this game were:
* Adam is playing legitimate NBA quality defense... no bullshit, really.
* Alexis Ajinca's 2 fouls in 20 seconds. I wonder what the NBA record is for the least amount of minutes it took someone to foul out?
* In time DJ is going to be damned good.
* Gerald Wallace's child producing ability may be at an end after that wicked shot that he took to the "man region"

The Hornets must NEVER be allowed to win again in Charlotte NEVER. They must be beaten and then beaten some more. NOT IN THIS HOUSE.
Best moment for me tonite; during the pregame warmups:
Keetch to Dnbman: So what do you think of the uniforms?
Dnbman to Keetch: Which ones? Charlotte or us?
I noticed that Phil Ford looks much happier on the bench this year than he did last year. Go figure. LB looked in good spirits tonite as well.
After Ajinca got his second foul real quick LB got his attention and used some sort of hand signal at him from the bench:
Dnbman: Is he calling a play for Lexi?
Keetch: Naw, hes just telling him he's got 6 fouls; its a "not to worry" thing.
Maybe he was doing french sign language?
MJ was at the end of the bench again. I wonder whats up with that? Is this a strategy to increase his exposure? If so great! Man that dude is large in every way. But he's pretty stoic sitting there. I wonder how long he can keep doing that.

At the beginning of the game I was thinking that if Adam Morrison's game could evolve to something like Peja Stojakovic's then he'd be doing well.
By the end of the game, I was thinking maybe if Peja had some of Adam's game, then he'd be doing really really well.
Peja's 3 near the end of the game was sick. Took like 0.3 seconds off the clock.
Chris Paul is a freaking bull. I swear he was charging some out there. I remember Chris having those soft uncertain eyes sometimes early on at Wake Forest and the Hornets. Not any more. Dude is intense.
It was good to see Ray and DJ give it right back to him. DJ and CP3 had a nice tussle that resulted in a jump ball. DJ did not back down.

Did I not express the absurdity immediately after making the comment??!!
Et tu, Keetchte?
Wonderful game. Everybody make contributions. Nobody was particularly bad, save for the errant bonehead play here and there.
Oh, and it was good to meet Ziggy! Good guy and cool kid!

I was at the game tonight, and wow was it a good game, I was really thinking they were going to lose when they blew the 12 point halftime lead, but they fought back and kept the lead to win...When Peja hit that three with like 20 seconds left, I was thinking Ray Allen all over again...(Ray allen was the first Bobcats game I went to before that...)

Sorry I didn't hear you Dnbman; I was laughing too hard at the absurdity. :D

Was at the game tonight and I thought we played a solid game tonight.
Ray shot the ball very well
Oak was solid
DJ shocked me w/ his 4th quarter play
Adam hit some oh so timely shots along w/ Matt
I thought Jared stunk it up tonight
It appeared that Wallace was in and out of the game tonight (trade rumors may be the cause)
I thought J-Rich had a quiet 20
It feels so good to see the team come out of timeouts with set plays. Last year we would come out of timeouts and look like garbage. I thought Larry made a gutsy decision going with the bench for so long in 4th but ultimately it worked out. I said this after the Knicks game and I really believe it....This team will be tough to beat at home I just have this feeling. We have stretches on the road when we look very good (3rd qt vs Cavs, same w/ the Knicks) and hopefully the Pistons game was an aberration. Lastly the trade rumors, man it would be hard to see Raymond go with the way he has been playing lately. I know Crash has seen this coming since the summer so it's really "what to do about nothing?" from his POV.
I can see Ray and Crash leaving simply b/c the writing is on the wall. They tried to bring T.J. Ford in via Wallace of course, the recent trade rumors w/ Wallace involved, they drafted DJ, and didn't offer Ray the extension. Its not a question of if, but when...great game tonight 'Cats!

I too was getting Ray Allen flashbacks, but I'll be damned if we didn't knock down our FTs (except for JR's 1 of 2) the entire night. Shot it over 95% for heaven's sake!
Probably the most fun Bobcats game I've been to. It was a hoot seeing Raymond and DJ giving Chrissy all he could handle tonight; DJ forcing the jumpball was beautiful, not to mention him breaking down his ass before the sweet dish to Gerald for the slam. Also, the obligatory GW swatting of a CP layup was a thing to behold!!!
Me and cuz got to the arena at 6:45 and we got our 107 handicapped seats, so I hate I got to miss out on the preliminary BCP meet 'n greet, but the fact there were quite a few of us there to see such a game was a good thing!
Those fouls on Lexy were nickel dimers that were called because he's Lexy; the more the refs get to know him and he gets respect, those won't be fouls. I loved seeing him and Mek out there together: that's our frontcourt of the future, and me likes!!!
Also so much fun to see Matt and Ammo out there together busting Hornet ass on both ends of the court!!!
Still, DJ was a revelation and I'm glad I was there for his coming out party....sure he'll have setbacks along the way, but he survived Larry's trial by fire with CP, and he excelled and helped win us a sweetass ball game in the process!!!
Also, how bout Mek and GW's defense against Chandler and West? Jeez, West's panties were in a wad the entire game, and when he fouled out we had the perfect vantage point of him running to the end of the bench, hunched over with his chin resting on his fists in full-fledged pout mode; that was hilarious. The morose looks on Hornets fans faces as they left the arena was good entertainment too!

This is one of the very few games of our history where almost all players did what they are expected to do (maybe except Dudley). Congratulations to Larry Brown, DJ, and all our players for this nice victory.

The image of Gerald Wallace holding his junk in one hand while reaching out to the ref with the other will stick with me for a while...
"He took my manhood, can't I at least get a foul!!!?"
When he took that shot to the package, he dropped like he had just been shot with an elephant gun, it was painful to witness :hypo:

Tamb I think you summarized this game perfectly with one simple sentence.
Right on.

Tonight's victory was a showcase of what last season's team was sorely lacking: FUNDAMENTALS. Good ball movement, hard-nosed defense, and making your freakin free throws. Excellent game, guys!

great win. we survived that dry spell in the 2nd, and fought off the late run.
the dj/carrol/ammo squad was f'n fantastic. felton was great.
not sure what to think of crash leaving. i love watching him play.
ps - i have League Pass w/ DirecTV in California. I get every game (though some not in HD).
can't believe people back home are having trouble seeing the games. what a shame. this team is exciting.
