Ok, to clarify the title, I have taken the stance that I am going to call him, BJ, rather than DJ, until he goes more than 2 minutes without making a bonehead play. I'm not sure why I began doing it, but it makes me feel better. So, next time you see him dribble for 20 seconds and shoot a contested 20 foot jumper, yell "DAMNIT BJ"
Ok, on to business....
Does anyone else think LB is playing him WAY too many minutes? Atleast 4 occasions against N.Y. he brought the ball up, dribbled aimlessly, and then jacked up a jumper...I thought LB hated rookies, and especially hates when PGs take a shot without a pass. We CAN'T have that. He has his moments where I say, wow, nice play Beeeej - but then he will throw the ball away or dribble all the way down the lane, and try to wrap a pass around 2 people.
I realize he is a rookie, and it will take time, but for now, I don't think we need to rely so much on him. We may just need to play Felton 40 minutes every night. To be honest, Ray has looked pretty good this year, save for the Cavs game...BJ doesnt need to get 13 shots, when Gerald only takes 8!
BBBBBB JJJJJJJJJJ!!!!

i agree......He takes the final shot with the clock running down even if Adam or J-Rich are on the ring for three's.....

So since we're calling him BJ Augustin now.. next time you're at a game and he makes a bonehead play, don't yell "Damn it BJ!"
Yell: "Damn it BJ, get off your knees you're blowing the game!"
Get it? BJ... blowing the game....

i do sense a little over compensation from Larry trying to disarm the Rookie Hater tag.
but DJ has flashes man... little shades of brilliance, and i think hes gotta play for that good to become more consistent. That said... defensively i see him as a major handicap for the lineup. He needs to either learn how to defend... or learn how to make more points, enough to make us forget about his terrible defense.
but really i gotta say... if thats gonna be our future.. might as well break him in early. Lexy too

Heh... and here Slam and me were both betting that it'd be Swish's turn next.
He has the same problem that Felton has had in his 3 years of being with the Bobcats...we don't move without the ball very well. When that happens a PG's options go away and he's left pounding the ball waiting for someone to get open.
You think he's bad now when we're actually starting to focus on that...imagine last year under the Idiot.
He's a young kid, and his last year in college Barnes utilized him a lot as a SG. Repeat after me: ILBIT.
Um guys, he's a rookie with 4 NBA games under his feet. He's allowed to make mistakes.
Felton on the other hand...
but DJ has flashes man... little shades of brilliance
Yup-yup.
That, and he's only played 4 games in the NBA. People around here are idiotic these days. They expect all of our players to be as good as LBJ or Kobe or Amare every night.
There are some serious unreal expecations. It's like they are mixing up real life with NBA2K9 where you can go out and just do what you want.

Not really - it was just at times Abrams or James brought the ball up (they had 3 good ball handlers on the team) but usually the ball would end up in DJ's hands to create the play.

exactly. like the other 29 teams in the league aren't trying to win too.
theres 30 teams in the league and about 15 above average PF's, and somehow the Bobcats front office sucks for not having one of them in 4 years of existence.
Emeka is one of only 3 people in the entire NBA to average 10 and 10 over a 4 year span... but he sucks and isn't worth a contract because he doesn't try to rip the rim off on every dunk like Howard.
This thread reminds me soooooooooooooooooooooo much of the "J-Brick" thread last year that it makes me giggle.

bj impressed me tonight!!! MUCH better decision making ----a couple times he took a shot without passing, but overall, best he has looked. he also played down stretch which surprised me.

DJ and Felton are playing the same. If your going to bitch bout a rookie you gotta bitch about Felton. Playin Felton 40 mins a game is crazy. Emeka shouldn't even be doing that but since our big men suck he's forced to. DJ doesn't suck, He does shoot way to many shot clock contested shots though, I'll agree with that. I'm not going to say DJ should be starting again, But He shows at times so far in these four games that with the same amount of PT he's getting now all year, He'll be the starter next year. Sorry Felton, But the simple fact that DJ is getting round 20 mins a game from a coach that hates rookies says he doesn't trust his starter.

Or the idea that Brown hates rookies is BS? Or maybe that he only has TWO PGs on the roster? Or (in regards to last night) the starters played most/all of the 3rd quarter?
Nah...it HAS to be that Brown doesn't "trust" Felton.

To me its nice to have two points . Right now Felton looks more seassoned. But DJ. Looks good for a rookie. Ill worrie about whos the best later . Right now i just want us to win games. I will say if Felton keeps playing like tonight . He going to get a very nice contract from some one.

Who came up with the idea Brown hates rookies, Wasn't the people on the site. That has followed him around from team to team for a reason. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with trust when you take out your starting point guard and put in your rookie to get just about the same minutes. I'm pretty sure LB doesnt "trust" his bigs like Sean May buy you don't see him tossing them out there for 20 mins a game. You see Emeka play basically the whole game if he isn't in foul trouble. They have play'd just four games and DJ and Felton pretty much share mins. Felton may have play'd big minutes the other night but that wont happen the whole year. But Emeka might....

Something tells me that if LB didn't "trust" any team member they wouldn't play...much less start.
Your point is BS. If LB didn't trust Felton he wouldn't have played him the entire 3rd quarter...nor would he have subbed him in for DJ with a little over a minute to go in the 4th when we were only up by 2 points. DJ played well so he ran with him...sort of like "going with your hot hand".
Good coaches do that.
We're an entire team y'know...not just one or two players. Try pulling for all of them.

maybe its not that LB hated rookies maybe he just knew that darko was ass...i was at the N.O game and dj played as well as he has all season....that said felton has been shooting lights out and was one of the main reason we was even in the game with a chance to win.
