View Full Version : A plan to fix this team

To start off, there are 4 guys that I definately wouldn't trade:
1. Richardson
2. Okafor
3. Augustin
4. Morrison
There are a couple of others that I would only trade if they had to be thrown in:
1. Dudley
2. Ajinca
I'd start the renovation by trading Felton and Wallace plus any combination of the remaining 7 guys on the roster for a legit PF. My choices would be Jamison, Rasheed Wallace, Lamar Odom, maybe even Zach Randolph (though he makes a ton of money, prob too much). The problem is I don't think any of those teams want Felton or Wallace.
I'd round it out by signing Tinsley as the back-up PG after he gets bought out. We wouldn't be contenders, but we sure wouldn't be worse and the chemistry would increase by a lot.
Really, the bottom line is we need Felton and Wallace off the team and a good PF and new back-up point on it. I'd be satisfied with any way we can get that done.
And no, this isn't simply a knee-jerk reaction to Wallace and Felton's poor games tonight - I've wanted Felton gone for years and Wallace gone since last year. It's the only way to improve.

The problem is most of the people you want aren't available. It would be great to get a all-star PF. But trading for such a player when the Bobcats have a full cap is not easy. And if you give away half of your team for a PF, I fail to see how the team has improved.

Okafor jobbed us. He got his $, and now is having his worst yr ever, and playing as tho he doesn't even care. We are stuck w/ his Contact and Nazr's Contact. Carroll's contact is killing us, too. Crash I still have faith in, but right now only J-Rich is playing up to his Contract. And he's well below last year's pace. And if we resign Ray, that makes an even heftier Contract albatross around our neck.
If possible, I'd build around J-Rich and DJ. Hold Dudley and Ammo as great bench guys. Hold Ajinca for the future. Everyone else is expendable for the RIGHT price, but not to be just given away. Ideally that is what I'd do, but realistically it want and wont hapen. I dont think mgmnt can pull off any trades to make us better. Either we get low-balled, or sometimes we likely overvalue our people. The best we can hope for is to win the Blake Griffin sweepstakes in the Draft.

I'm not saying trade half the team...Felton and Wallace plus any one or two of the remaining seven, whatever it takes to match salaries. And I think Rasheed Wallace could be had, as well as Jamison if the Wizards continue to play as terribly as they have been. I just question whether Felton and Wallace would appeal to either of those teams.

So who is going to pass them the ball when we do not have a point guard? DJ may be a good PG someday, but he is not there yet. So in the end, you still have a team that can't compete.

Don't have a clue how Mek is an untouchable for you, but to each his own....
I don't think anybody should be untouchable at all if a move can be made to help the team. 2s and 3s are a dime a dozen, so if we can move JRich for a piece to the puzzle, let's do it.
Also, a new starting lineup would be wonderful. I mean, come on, Larry, you're enough of a non-conformist, it's time to put an end to the Matt Carroll/Sean May bullshit. How's about some experimentation for a change: DJ, Shannon, GW, Lexy, Ryan! I would say Ammo for Shannon, but I'd rather have the more aggressive defender in Shannon, plus Ammo is a dynamite 6th man. Give me the more energetic group over the same old guys who put us in a hole night after night after night (Re: Mek, Sean, Raymond).

Nobody is untouchable on this team. We have no foundation and I would equate foundation w/ an all-star

As for fixing the team we not in good shape.
1st Mek is is geting used by ever player over 6.9 he plays against. I don't know for sure but i don't think hes even hit his rookie average this year 16ppg. Nine boards seem like thats about all you get for 72 milion all so .
Mek has to be fixed , Beanched ,traded, or just ways to get him involved, He plays with no energy and acts as if he don't care if we win or lose.
2nd DJ played like the ball hog but scored well. Im not sure thats what Brown wants but he had a carer high in the blow out last. I can tell as im sure Felton can tell hes being groomed to take the helm.
3rd One can't blame a lot of this crap on Felton . E ver sence hes been in the league hes a point being asked to play a two . He plays with energy except for last night most of the time. But hes expendable.
4th Where is Crash all im seeing is flashes of him this year . Mostly a slightly below average small foward.
5th Starting May is not working at all . Hes still no use to the team at all , And needs to be beanched.
Next as my wife calls him Dudley do wrong . Hes NOT a starter and should be used as a eight or ninth man off the beanch,
Morrison , on most nights does his job as a sixth man scorer . But acted like last night he didn't give a damn.
Hammer needs to sit til he can get his act toghter and remember hustle got him a contract in the first place.
Instering thought my wife gave me during the game . She said the players acted distracted and wondered if a big trade was made right befor the game . As the whole team STARTERS except DJ looked like they wasn't in the game. With two days off and at the end of a six game home stand it might be possable.
L Brown may as well play Alexas and Hollins both played with energy . To me Hollins out played Mek as well as Alexas. I would love for us to start to bigs in any combo. Either Hollins or Alexas to see if it helps out Meks numbers .Dudley is just to small to play p/f and its not fair on him.
As for players on the trading block it should be the whole team. Right now i would trade Mek for any shorter contract . Rich , Wallace , Felton , Morrison , the rest of the team should be on the block too. We shouldn't talk about the trades openly .But the whole team should be on the block. And if any fair offers come along we should pull the triger.

Ammo this is not directed at you or Morrison. Yes he played very little mins last night. He came out just like the rest of the team flat . Just like the rest of the team he looked like he didn't give a damn. He wasn't moving with out the ball like usely does . He wasn't looking for his shot . He was like all the other players he didn't give a damn.
Somthing happened befor the game .I don't know if it was a ass chewing or what. But the whole arena could feel the tension. Another thing he could have not even defended the ref last night . No one give a damn. Don't take that personal about you boy Morrison . He was no better or worse than the others.
I remember the "good old days" when I used to think Bobcats fans had a really well rounded understanding of the game and we had a great support base.
I miss those days.

Please explain , Im a season ticket holder and post most ever day on this site So i feel i suport the team It Could be im not knowledgable [well rounded] and don't know the game as well as most of you .Slam was either you or Ammo or any other fan on this site, happy with the team preformance at all last night. Yes i think the whole team sucked last night and was disapointed from the effort from the whole team. But i will be at the next game chearing my tail off I don't care if we don't win but four games all season i want stop suporting the team.

I think the starters sucked last night plain and simple 9/39, but the bench played their hearts out 22/41. Without DJ we would have gotten blown completely off the court.

I thought it was against NBA rules to trade Okafor until a certain period after signing his latest contract?

Until December 15th, but we also have the issue of Mek being BYC (base year compensation)...which means we can only take back half of his salary in trade.
That sounds good for us, but that would mean the other team has to be under the cap or have a trade exception...and I think only one or two teams are not capped out.
It can be done, but it would have to involve a lot of salary changing hands to get within the 125% rule.

IMO I wouldn't mind giving Hollins a start just to see how he'll do, he's done pretty good in limited minutes, and Okafor is getting murdered at C, so I think a move back to PF might help...if it doesn't work after 2-3 games then we can try something else...

I miss the days when this organization actually gave an effort to address a need. How in the hell do you pass on getting absolutely no legit big men for this season and expect Alexis Ajinca to be your present answer at C or PF?
It's just stupid and the Bobcats are the only team stupid enough to pull that off.
The support was there because they first started off in the NBA and, really, what do you expect a 1 to 3 year old team to do? But now it's been 4 full seasons and we're in our 5th now. The expectations get higher Slam and I would expect this team to understand to not trust Sean May and go get a LEGIT big man for this year.
So how dare you mock the fans saying they don't understand the game. That's very arrogant of you! I think they have a great understanding of the concept of not doing enough to put a contender out there; That's what the Bobcats are doing right now. Make a legitimate move or just sell the damn team to someone who will get this team moving in the direction of doing the right things.
I do love this team, but they just need to try to fix it. Signing McDyess might not help, but it's a legit effort to fixing the problem and that's all i'm looking for...to give a damn about their problems.

Why don't you be more precise with what you're meaning except of being an asshole because not everyone agrees with your thoughts of the moves of this basketball team.

OH MIGHTY ALL KNOWING INTELLIGENT ELITE BOBCATS FAN, What is there to NOT GET!? that is what I meant in my post above.
Just answer this: What does drafting Alexis Ajinca do for the short term of the Charlotte Bobcats?
Why don't you be more precise with what you're meaning except of being an asshole because not everyone agrees with your thoughts of the moves of this basketball team.
And this under lines it.

I love the fact that this front office won't mortgage the future for wins right now. Build slow and we'll get there eventually. I'd like a bit more continuity in the front office, and I appreciate the build slow but come on not this slow. I don't care if the fan base knows as much as Larry Brown or as little as Sam Vincent. All I care about is that there is a fan base. Speak your mind on this board but don't belittle or mock another poster. No "how dare yous" either because that belittles the other poster you thought belittled you in the first place. The only belittled fans this team should have is playing in Europe and the other used to be the color analyst on the radio. Earl and Mugsey is the joke there. Lighten up guys. No attacks, just discussion, no argument just point counterpoint. Let's keep it real guys, and come on can't we all just get along? Except with anyone who thinks Atlanta is a good basketball team, I can't get along with someone that dumb.
CHEESY POST!!!! BIGCat comes through with the stinky CHEESE........love it.
