The Star Ledger (http://www.nj.com/nets/index.ssf/2008/11/new_jersey_nets_lopez_works_on.html)
The Nets continue to be in trade discussions with Charlotte, which is desperate for frontcourt help, but they don't have the expendable post player Larry Brown wants. The Bobcats are willing to part with Gerald Wallace for a player of consequence, but are more actively pushing Matt Carroll or Adam Morrison, mindful that the Nets are shooter-crazy these days.

The ESPN rumor was referencing the above quote from the Star-Ledger..

I'm just making this up, but how about something like:
Crash and Ammo
for
Simmons and Lopez
Simmons has been stinking it up in Jersey so they bring in Crash as Carters new running mate. Crash makes less that Simmons - who makes less than Dickhead (which is why they traded him) plus maybe the Nets look to move Carter to create more cap space and bring in LBJ over the summer teaming him with the better 2nd option player in Crash (who is cheaper again than Carter). Plus they have a slew of bigs.
Ultimatley they would hope for:
Harris
LBJ
Crash
Yi
Boone
We get the low post scorer we need plus get out of a couple of years of Crash's contract (Simmons deal is shorter).
Felts
Swish
Simmons
EO50
Lopez
Just putting it out there..........

It's just saying exactly what this article from the Star Ledger is saying...follow the link and read down to the Notes section...

edit....man you guys are fast!
Crash and Hammer
for
Simmons and Lopez
works too!! (but I doubt they would want Hammer's lengthy contract)

I think they're still after Williams. Notice the money quote:

Honestly if we can't trade Carroll and its down to Morrison and Crash, I love Crash, but Morrison is shooting better and IMO playing better than Morrison...I think Morrison could take over the SF position if Crash was to leave...but after everything I'll believe something when I see something confirmed..
Also I wouldn't mind getting PF Ryan Anderson...not sure if we could get him for a Morrison or a Carroll...
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

i'll feel comfortable wtih Ammo taking over Crash if that helps us fill in the PF position.. and i'm sure there will be a bunch of people posting below how ridiculous it would be to have ammo playing for crash.

its just a damn shame that Utah has no need for Gerald Wallace.
Boozer for Wallace and Carroll would be dreamy.
I don't know if Adam is starting material but if we can get a beast PF then it would be worth the shot. he couldn't be that bad with a good physical presence down low. Might make us better.
who freakin knows.

yeah if we traded Morrison then that would leave a gap at the 3. Then we are right back to where we started....having players playing out of there position.
MC is the one that needs to be traded but I feel bad letting him go.

And anyone have any idea if the nets are actually willing to give up Lopez???

I dunno man. Would be nice. All I'm looking for is a legitimate move to fix the crisis they call lack of Big men talent. Okafor is good, Mohammed is OK, May is a mess, and then they got two tooth picks called Ryan Hollins and Alexis Ajinca. So really we only have 1 legit at this moment starter of all those big men.

Ajinca is a toothpick for sure; but not Hollins. Ryan can play PF for defense, but he offers nothing on offense. I think he'd be good at PF until someone with a more balanced game comes along.

Size is a matter of interpretation on tweeners, so can't argue there. But again, he isn't a starting option. We essentially have 1 legit big man and 4 backups.

i would definitely give up ammo in a boozer related trade..boozer is a proven player

we would have that gap...that would leave gerald wallace who can't shoot, but maybe JR would take some mins at that position?

Did something happen to Dudley?
And Swish can most definitely play the 3. In fact I think he could play that position at least as good as the 2.

Id like to keep Ammo and trade Carroll if we go that route. Adam is just now starting to show his potential, we've pretty much seen Matts.

That would be catch and shoot, one dribble or 2 dribbles and shoot and occasionally cutting to the basket in which case he ends up turning it over or gets rejected.

Bobcats Still Prowling
It seems the Charlotte Bobcats and New Jersey Nets are going to need a third team to get involved to make their rumored deal work out. The good news for Bobcats fans is that it may not be Gerald Wallace leaving town after all.
No matter how you look at it, the core group in Charlotte is absolutely Jason Richardson, Emeka Okafor, and Gerald Wallace. Everyone else is expendable in one way or another. I would argue that rookie point guard DJ Augustin is on the that list, as well, now that he's starting to find his pro legs. The rumor out of New Jersey today is that it's Adam Morrison who the Bobcats are trying to shop as part of a package deal, rather than the oft-rumored Wallace. In case you haven't seen Morrison this season, he has been playing some very good basketball. Maybe the haircut has cleared his range of vision, because now he's becoming a real scoring threat, tallying 16, 15, and 14 points in consecutive games last week.
The catch here is that the Bobcats really want a starting center back in the deal. We all saw the reports that they were trying to get Chris Kaman from the Clippers, and that's exactly the type of player they need next to Okafor in the post. Reports from the Charlotte Observer, the Neward Star-Ledger, and the Associated Press all have the Bobcats close to a move with New Jersey, but it seems they need a third team to get involved to make it right for everyone involved.

Hate to see Morrison go, but if it could bring in a starting Center then that be excellent, I'd love to see Morrison come to town...Maybe the nets could get rid of VC and send him to the Clippers we get Kaman, and the Nets get Clippers 1st & Morrison?

If the money worked out for that, hell ya. I'd LOVE Kaman in Charlotte. He went to college only an hour away from where I live.

I may have missed this earlier but...
Why are the Clips eager to dump Kaman?
When have they said he's available?
I just don't get it.

1. They have Camby and they're owned by Donald Sterling. I don't think they're eager, but they'll make the deal if it's the right one for them.
2. The Cats tried to get him earlier with Gerald going out, and instead of saying he's unavailable, they just said they weren't interested in GW for him....basically, it's what they didn't say that makes him an available target.
3. I don't think it'll happen; the article just states that Kaman is the "type" of player they need alongside Mek (which is highly questionable in and of itself, to me), not that he's the one that is going to be acquired. Desperate times call for faulty reasoning and deduction, methinks.
