According to Hoopsworld:

Sounds like the Bobcats have a taker, and that in the deal they're getting back more players than they're sending out. According to a couple of well-informed sources the Bobcats have been aggressively working the phone lines as they watch their attendance drop in direct proportion to their winning percentage. It sounds like we could see a huge move made by the Bobcats in the next few hours.

I'm excited about the prospects, but I'm guessing Crash is gone. We better not get screwed...

I'm sick of this! The FO is making no effort to go out and sign players with netflix accounts! I blame __[insert bobcats-related name here]__.

the way it says it, it really sounds like they have no clue...I believe if the knew there was a trade they would start off with something like..."Well the Bobcats have a taker..." not "Sounds like the Bobcats have a taker..." Maybe I'm overreading but thats just my idea behind this...I wouldn't get too excited yet...

I'm officially scared.

The Nets should have zero interest in Crash if they think they're still players in the King sweepstakes. If they were to take him, it would likely mean they are either shipping off VC (NOOOOO!) or they think they can trade him for more value before the end of the 2010 season.

If it's about Ammo and Matt, what are we getting in return? We can't use Lopez, Sean Williams would provide some of the D the team needs, but little of the O. Yi, well, we already have the Awful Tower (I kid) as a project big man. The other three big men of any consequence on their roster (Boone, Najera, and Swift) are all battling injuries.

They only have two PGs so they won't be shipping either of them this way.

I just don't see a scenario where this trade turns out well for the Cats.

*makes big guess*

One of the reasons that DJ is starting is because we are gonna trade Felton for a legit PF, a backup PG, and maybe a 2nd round pick.

If I'm right, everyone owes me a dollar at the next bobcat game I go to!

Felton is not getting traded...DJ is suppose to start at SG if he does start instead of Carroll...

That would be awesome if we could pull it off, I'd still hate to lose Ammo but we got to do what we got to do...

Here's a deal that works, and is reasonable for all sides:

Nets
Incoming Players
Adam Morrison
Salary: $4,159,200 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 8.7 REB: 1.9 AST: 1.3 PER: 13.35

Jason Hart
Salary: $2,484,000 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 2.6 REB: 1.4 AST: 1.2 PER: 2.64

Tim Thomas
Salary: $6,049,400 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 9.5 REB: 4.6 AST: 1.0 PER: 10.00

Clippers
Incoming Players
Vince Carter
Salary: $14,724,125 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 22.6 REB: 3.8 AST: 5.4 PER: 22.12

Nazr Mohammed
Salary: $6,049,400 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 2.0 REB: 0.6 AST: 0.0 PER: 9.44

Bobcats
Incoming Players
Chris Kaman
Salary: $9,500,000 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 14.3 REB: 10.8 AST: 1.8 PER: 18.55

We'd be losing Nazr and Adam, but we get Kaman.

Nets would get Ammo, plus contracts that expire before or during 2010, so they can get LBJ

Clippers would get a SG, which they desperatley need, and a C for depth.
What do you think?

I think there would be picks involved, but IDK about any of the team's pick situations.

Nah, not even close.

Ammo makes 4.2, VC makes 14.7 and Kaman makes 9.5. They all have to be within 125% of each other unless one of the teams is under the cap...and none are.

Unless there's more players involved look for a C that's making around 5 million and his team who's needing whatever NJ is offering, presumably Sean Williams +.

Now THAT'S a trade I like! If MJ could pull this off I'd take back (most of) everything I've said about him!

I get the NJ angle in maneuvering for capspace in '10...makes real sense. Does LAC really "desperately" need a SG? I have no idea, I haven't seen them play once this season.

damn, i really wish it was carroll going out, but if it has to be ammo that gets us what we desire, ok. i guess the trade off is not losing swish, crash, emeka, felts, duds, dj or frenchy. should be an interesting 48 hrs.... i just wish something would get done. the crash rumors have been ongoing for over a week now and it's showing on the court.

Carter could also play at SF for them, giving them a line-up of Davis, Mobley/Ricky Davis/Eric Gordon, Carter, Thornton, and Camby. I'd say that SG is their biggest weakness, and they may in panic mode seeing as how they have started off.

i'll be pretty dissapointed to see ammo go, but if you can promise me that this trade would me we would be in contention for a playoff spot i'll take it..even if we don't make playoffs this year, just being in contention would be a successful season for me considering all the roster changes and nonsense that has taken place the last two years

i dont think Kaman is the guy that is gonna make this team a contender and im not even sure we would be a lock to make the playoffs.

RAYMOND
JAY RICH

KAMEN
OAK

Ammofan, hang in there. You could still cheer for Ammo wherever he plays, unless its against the Cats. That's a fair deal, isn't it? I mean, Kaman is a starter, and the best Ammo will be in the NBA is a good 6th man. We win on the deal, so you can't blame mgmnt if they can pull the trigger on a deal like that.

I like Ammo. I'd be glad to keep him on the roster.

However, Kaman's a great player, period. Not to mention, he's a great center, which are few and far between. That trade is WAY to good to gamble on Ammo turning into an all-star SF one day.

By the way, Ammofan, I'd like to keep you around too. But, if you gotta go, you gotta go. ;)

I would really like to find a way to fit Matt into these deals instead of Ammo, but you have to give something to get something, and to get Kaman, I think it'd be worth it. I'd still cheer for Adam wherever he landed too.

A frontline of Kaman and Mek still has the same problem that surfaced when Mek and Nazr were paired together. Who is going to guard the PFs? Kaman is an upgrade, but hardly a solution. The team would have 20 million per year (up to 25 mill in 2012), or 1/3 of the salary cap tied up into two centers. I understand that people are anxious to see a move made, but another center is not the answer. I know the reports say the Cats are after a center, but I think (hope) that they're actually looking for a power forward and something is being lost in translation.

Two primary things have killed the Cats on the defensive end this season: PG penetration and PFs. Of the PFs that have had good games against the Bobcats: Michael Beasley (25 points), Detroit PFs (combined 27), Zach Randolph (25), Chris Bosh (30), Boozer (26), Hedo Turkoglu (20), and Dirk Nowitzki (32), which of these would Kaman be able to guard?

Unless the FO thinks they can move Mek (not very likely), trading for Kaman still leaves the frontline lacking and locks up more money longterm, further exacerbating a potential turn-around.

I swear I hate feeling like the rain cloud, I really do love this team.

I swear I hate feeling like the rain cloud, I really do love this team. Very good point and one that I agree with for the most part. The one thing I can say is that Kaman is a banger underneath and wouldn't get pushed around like Mek, and that would be a sight for sore eyes. Also, rebounds, which have been a problem here since year 1, would become less of a problem, and overall interior defense would improve a thousandfold, both of which make Kaman a massive upgrade over Nazr

Don't get me wrong, if giving up Ammo is basically all it'll take to get Kaman: I'm on board in a heartbeat......BUT, we'll still get eaten alive by the players amp mentions above, not to mention we won't have a "Larry Ball" athletic 4/5ish player at all in the starting lineup, so I wonder how he feels about this, as both Mek and Kaman are by no means athletic. Plus, Kaman's severe ADHD has always caused brainfarts and such during games, so I wonder how that would wear on Larry.

On the other hand, if there is an exit strategy to get Mek out of here after the season, then this could be the trade that turned the Cats fortune.

I'm somewhere in the middle with the trade: if it's part of a long-term plan, with eyes to the future, I love it; if it's a trade and we're stuck with Mek past this season so Mek and Kaman are 4 and 5 for the forseeable future, I'm highly skeptical, but I'm willing to see how it works because as long as Larry is Coach, he'll put the right "pizzazz" guys out on the court (i.e. Lexy starting in front of Mek)!
