Charlotte Bobcats at Atlanta Hawks 11/21

So... According to Rick Bonnell we may see DJ and Alexis in the starting lineup tonight instead of Matt Carroll and Butterbean.

I don't think that Alexis can do any worse than May did at the power forward spot, so despite his knack for picking up fouls at an incredible rate, I'm good with that move.

DJ starting at point I can live with, the only negative is Ray sliding over to the two which means that he will need to guard a 6'8" Joe Johnson... Folks, that concerns me.

For the Hawks, Josh Smith and Al Horford could both be out tonight with ankle injuries. We need all of the help that we can get.

Do we get a win tonight?

If Josh Smith is out and we go with DJ, Ray, Crash, Lex, and Mek... Ray won't have to guard Joe Johnson exclusively. because without smith there, Crash can lend a hand.

I am just glad to know that Matt Carroll and Sean May won't start. I blame them solely for the 15 point deficit we began with against Dallas. Neither could keep up on defense and neither added anything offensively. It was like playing 3 on 5 against a good Western Conference team... It was never gonna work.

I actually hope Hollins gets the start tonight, but if Larry rolls with the French Connection, I won't complain.

awww, what's wrong with Mr. Butterbean ?? I guess the best way to get back in shape is NOT to partake of the grueling process that is playing the game.

And, no Horford & Smith = nice chance for Alexis to crank it up a notch unless Zaza decides to showcase some of his Georgian ruggedness.

All in all, tonight's just another experiment in the long line of Larry's confuse-an-opponent strategies, i.e. the Cats lose (by 8+ points).

I happen to think DJ is doing great for just a Rookie. He's playing a very tough position under a tough coach on PG and starting to get the hang of it. The assists will pick up as he gains confidence. The kid is a winner and showing why LB thought so highly of him. That said, we really do need a quality big to help Okafor. God, Kaman would be nice for this team.

The fact that you say this, lets me know I'm not that far off even with my mustache colored glasses on. I am the last person to judge a man with 1000 NBA wins. But i just don't see why Ammo isnt getting more minutes.
But Larry knows a hell of a lot more than me and seen a hell of lot more players so I gotta think he knows what hes doing.

Two things:

1. I don't dislike Ammo. Far from it. I was a huge fan of his at Gonzaga. I just think he was drafted way too high - but that's not his fault.

2. Couldn't agree more about Felts. Why the hell would we trade him? Heck, if anything we should be STOKED he's playing so poorly. Maybe that means we get him on the cheap over the summer and at worst he becomes our cheap, young, capable, hard working back up point who is on a good deal. At best, we still sign him cheap, he reaches his potential and we have an absolute bargain.

Well said, ohara. DJ will have more games like this, and he'll have (hopefully less) Nuggets-type games (1-9, 5 or so TOs), but so many of the best PGs in the league today struggled their first year at the point, the undisputed toughest position for a rookie to learn.

I hate losing, and it's frustrating staring down a likely 30 or less win season, but really, as long as JRich is out, and we don't make any move to get better in the post, losing is going to be the norm here. Still, with our two rookies in place for the future, and Larry at the helm, and MJ getting his balls busted by Larry to improve the team's post, and most guys still busting their asses, I'm not nearly as upset as I thought I'd be at this point in the season. I just absolutely loved Larry starting DJ and Lexy tonight....that was just sheer BRILLIANCE that any other coach in our team's history would've never had the balls to do, if ANY coach in the league right now.
