Sources tell Dee that the team will activate Marbury because another trade is in the works so that the team can dress eight players, a league mandated rule.

Do you think Charlotte is involved? One report indicated that the Bobcats were in the process of making a deal with more players coming back then going out...Could New York be our trade partner? Discuss.

I'm sure that Starbury is very high on LB's list of players he is busting to bring in.

playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

agreed..no way starbury comes to CLT. if this is true it would be to facilitate a trade with another team , dallas had expressed interest in him, but they don't have the salary room to bring him

Read and then comment Slam. It says Marbury to be activated to suit 8 people, not go get Marbury. Why can't you people f'n read before you post?

i think what the article is suggesting is that Marbury is being activated to PLAY FOR NY tonight b/c they are about to trade more players away and need enough to play the game for tonight. Not that they are trading Marbury, he is playing tonight for them.

So who is inactive? There are the Randolph rumors floating around with either Dallas or LAC.

I think the point of the article is to say that there's no one to be inactive after this deal they're set to make. The NBA requires you to have 8 players at least suited up. Must be a big deal to force them to do it.

Again, read. It says in the article "ANOTHER DEAL". Trading Jamal Crawford will not leave the Knicks to only 8 players on their entire available roster for tonight. The Knicks, losing Crawford, still have about 11 healthy players on the roster. So in the immortal words from the Different Strokes

It is quite possible though that NYK are just activating Marbury as a result of the Crawford trade despite what the article says... Just looking at their roster, the only two PGs they have active besides him are Robinson and Duhon. After them the only other guards they have are Mardy Collins, Starbury, and Roberson.

It's quite possible that they just needed another guard for tonights game active. Starbury is possibly the best one on their roster... therefore he is forced to be active.

I'm really hoping as a fan though that it is actually because of an impending deal that will bring us some new players and WINS.

As I've posted in another thread,...Randolph to Clippers, it's official (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AlMUbWuj.p6LdVkadXFo0Fe8vLYF?slug=aw-randolphclippers112108&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)... this might be the reason as to why they're suiting up Marbury.

Yup, that could be it.

Jeez the Knicks are freaking exploding...they just traded Randolph and Crawford for Harrington and scrubs.

So what's they're lineup now?

Guess they've tossed the next two seasons in hopes of landing a FA in 2010. Good times in NYC until then.

I'd sure buy those tickets.

I'd sure buy those tickets. I know, it's hilarious how ESPN, the network that seemingly only hires incompetent douchebags and blowhards to "analyze" sports is spinning this: Cheesedoodle Smith said, and something to the effect of, "it's about time the city of NY had something to be excited about." Yeah, two years of pulling for a team that is full of guys going through the motions til their contracts run out, based on the wild (and erroneous, I think) assumption that the Knicks are going to land 2 or more FA gods in 2010 and win a championship immediately?!?!?! Funny enough, the Bobcats have reason to be more optmistic, if that's the only thing the Knicks have going for them.

I think it's a massive gamble (and an even more massive slap in the face of the ST holders) to basically piss around for 2 seasons and MAYBE get a duo or trio of FA gods, and even then, they have to be surrounded by talent, and a coach who recognizes that defense wins games......

Like I said, in relation to the Knicks, I'm a happy happy Bobcats fan right now...

To be fair, Tim Thomas had a solid year in 2005-2006 whenever he was in Phoenix and Mobley is a good shooter. Al Harrington is a nice fit for an up tempo offense and that's who they have to work with for 2 years...that's fine.

The Knicks have needed to get under the cap and these moves do indeed give them hope that in the present future they can get their cap problem fixed.

To be honest, I think the Knicks get impatient and fire D'Antoni before the big free agent year.

To be honest, I think the Knicks get impatient and fire D'Antoni before the big free agent year. That's a good point. They didn't get back trash at all, and they have been trying to get under the cap since Isiah brought his plague to the franchise, but I just wonder how these vets will play knowing they're for all intents, rent-a-players whose value is their expiring contrac more so than their ability to bring a winner to NY.

It's just the fact they're banking the future of their organization on free agency in two seasons, and if they can only sign one or so, then what? Back to the drawing board yet again?

And yes, I have my doubts about d'Antoni's coaching style as it is, and I think it's definitely possibile he may not be around by that time, or if so, he's on a short leash if they don't win immediately.

Personally, I think it's crazy to think that D'Antoni won't be around in 2010. He certainly will be and he's not on a short leash at all. Trust me, with the money they paid him to bypass Chicago and bringing in Walsh, they are looking to the future with a "who cares about now" attitude

i love to throw stones at stephen a just as much as the next guy, but he's pretty spot on. the talent that came back might not be dead even, but there's not much of a gap in what the knicks are putting on the court. they are going to have a ridiculous amount of money to spend and could do what the celtics did last year. the knicks should be picking in the top 5 this year if not #1. d'antoni and walsh are a great fit in ny and are doing what this team has needed to do for quite sometime.....clean house & become financially responsible. isaiah tried, but failed miserably. the knicks that take the court in '10 -'11 are going to be pretty badass. no reason why lbj or wade or any of stephen a.'s scenarios don't happen. the knicks just have to put other pieces in place between now and then and they should be able to duplicate what boston did last year. sorry......longtime knicks fan here (was a fan before charlotte had either team and am from there), so i'm quite excited about the future.

If you were LBJ or Wade and had a choice of any team in the NBA, would YOU choose the Knicks? The fact that they're going to have money doesn't mean shit. They're also not going to have much anybody worth playing with. LBJ loves money I'm sure, but I have a feeling if a team like the Pistons offer him less money, he'd pounce on that wayyy before he goes to the Knicks. Stephen A. is going to be on his knees for the Knicks until the end of time.

Mark my words. LeBron James will NOT go to the Knicks if they have a terrible team. He wants to win just as much as he wants money. He won't have his legacy lessened because he never won the 'ship. Unless the Knicks put together something crazy where they sign him, Bosh, and some young talent... he won't go.

Like Stephen Asshole Smith said the Knicks will have enough money to grab LBJ and a sidekick to play alongside him,and not just any sidekick either imagine Wade and Bron and another possible star.I foresee them doing what the Celtics did to have their own 'Big 3' but in another fashion.

Yeah. When I heard Jalen Rose talking about such a scenario last night, I started to cringe.

Although, the Knicks will have paid for it with a decade of incompetence. So, maybe it's just.

Hat's off to Walsh; great trades. He and D'Antoni seem to have the right idea fix the organization and not just throw some bandaids over it.

There's a wire tap on RealGm that says the Knicks have a deal to send Marbury to MIA for Marion. The Heat haven't accepted yet, but if this goes down I say let's go raid the Knicks and kidnap Walsh. At least he would be able to get some deals done. :)

That may be decided by how Gallinari pans out. he was a top 10 pick, and was supposed to have a lot of upside in being a point-forward type. I don't think that Bosh would come if he was doing good, there would be a glut of forwards.

If that happens, bank on Wade's agents, the Heat brain trust, and about 20 NBA officials all having a sit down with Marbury explaining that he'll spend the rest of his years playing "off the Jersey shore" if he doesn't defer to Wade.

While crazier things have happened, I would be shocked to see Miami trade Marion for Marbury.
