View Full Version : R. Felton "THE BALLHOG" will loose all Credibility and Leadership
After tonights game against the celtics, i would see less of felton leadership role in this team. his teamates will begin to question his selfishness and intention in this season. HE'S A BALLHOG, HE WANTS A BIG CONTRACT, HE ACTS AS IF HE IS THIS TEAM SUPERSTAR WHEN THE GAME IS ON THE LINE! BIG HEADED BALL PLAYER! I HOPE LB LET HIM PLAY ALL BY HIS LONESOME IN THE FINAL SECS OF THE GAME!! BEC THATS WHAT HE WANTS ANYWAYS!
HE'S JOB IS SUPPOSED TO BE FINDING J-RICH N GW IN THE END GAME, NOT HOG THE BALL AND ACT AS A SUPERSTAR SCORER!! IDIOT!
4 PTS, 2-15, AGAIN 2-15 AND STILL SHOOTING! 6 TO'S! AND A BALLHOG!!!

Where were you last night when he went off for 31 points? If you don't like Felton taking on the leadership role then bitch at LB.
There's an idiot all right, but it ain't Felton.

Ray was the one taking the shots, missing continously, turning the ball over continously.. he is a BALLHOG!!! he had a lucky game last night, any player hogging the ball every night will have lucky games here and there. he has hands, that doesnt mean the ball has to continously stick with him, that hogger!!
at what point did LB say that Ray was his prime star, his prime time player, he's go to guy?? LB said he wants a pass first point guard!! so if i BITCH at the hogger that is felton, he deserve it because its the TRUTH!! however, if you feel like he has no fault and its all about lb i respect your view!
ps: and yes, felton is an idiot!!!

Every player has his good games and bad games....its too bad Felton played bad otherwise the Cats win today. DJ played a decent game today, but the small lineup hurt us on the defensive end. Out of necessity we will see the small lineup becuase we dont really have a 5th guy to go with Felton, J-Rich, Wallace and Okafor that is up to par with DJ.

please search for my old posts. I have been talking about felton trying to do to much for a long time. yesterday everyone loves him, today everyone hates him. this cycle is constantly repeated. I think he tries to force his leadership too much, and in turn does too much. I also think he is not a very good shooter nor pg. Time to move on. DJ is the answer. I dont like felton, nor will I like felton regardless of a 31 pt game if his style of play is the same...

CAPS LOCK and !!!! makes your argument so much better.
DJ is the answer?
When was the last time Ray had more than five turnovers in a game? Don't look it up, I'll tell you. February. When was the last time DJ had more than five turnovers? Wednesday. The team could've won that game too. I like DJ just as much as anyone, but to claim that Ray is a detriment to this team isn't accurate. The shots he was taking weren't bad shots.
I understand that feeling the need to type in caps is not a common trait of people that like to look a little deeper, but let's try. Coach Brown is notorious for having a quick hook if the player isn't performing, so why did he leave Ray in? Perhaps because he wasn't taking bad shots.
Did Ray struggle? Absolutely, there's no disputing that, but he's had more TOs than assists only once this year before last night.
As for asserting that Ray's been a long term problem, no position has more pressure on it than PG when learning a new offensive scheme, and that's what Ray has had to do in 3 of his 4 seasons in the NBA. that this forum has had so many threads about both of our PGs this season illustrates that fact.

AND YOUR CALMNESS AND YOUR WELL RESEARCH COMMENT ABOUT YOUR BOY RAY MAKES YOUR REBATTLE EVEN BETTER!!!
AND ME TYPING IN ALL CAPS DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT YOUR BOY IS A "BALLHOG"!! HE KNOWS HE'S STRUGGLING, EVERYBODY IN THE GYM KNOWS HE'S STUGGLING, AND YET THE BALL NEVER LEAVES HIS HANDS!!! THOSE PEOPLE AROUND HIM WEARING THE SAME UNIFORM ARE CALLED TEAMATES!! THEIR THERE TO HELP OUT IN CASES LIKE THESE!!! ADVICE: PASS THE DAMM BALL!! SHARE THE BALL!! ITS NOT BAD TO HAVE A BAD NIGHT BUT TO HOGG THE BALL OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN MAKES HIM SELFISH AND A BAD PLAYER!!! AND ITS NOT LIKE HE'S BEING LEFT WIDE OPEN WITH NOBODY NEAR HIM, HE WAS THE ONE INITIATING THE ACTION OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!HIS INTENTIONS ARE CLEARLY SELF MOTIVATED!!!
I HOPE YOU LIKED MORE OF THE CAPS LOCK AND THE EXCLAMATION POINT!!! HEHE:)

^ ah, the simplest cure to a bothersome ill.
Having an off night is usually brought about by wanting to remedy one's mistakes committed earlier in the game, Raymond tried, had the blues, couldn't get it to fall, that's hardly a reason to get feisty.

Felton's shooting was terrible and some of his decisions were clearly off. I don't think he was a ballhog; most of those shots made sense for the possession, even the end game layups, where Felton can be pretty effective. He also provided tons of energy, especially rebounding. I actually thought he played a great first half, minus the shooting. The second half was a struggle. Perhaps some of it had to do with guarding Ray Allen on the other side? I know, I know: excuses, excuses.
Suffice to say, I think Brown left him in because he was making positive contributions to the ball game and neither Brown nor Felton thought he would continue to miss so many shots, particularly after he curled off that screen for the 18 footer. Sadly, he did.
I think Brown wants Felton to look for teammates but also attack when he gets the chance. That's basically what he did last night. He took a few threes, but I think two of them he was open and the other was at the end of a shot clock. He also hustled, getting six rebounds, two steals, and still leading the team in assists. (Although, you could argue that DJ would have lead the team in assists if he would have played as many minutes.
I don't know, that offense from Ray was pretty bad last night. But I wonder if we win that game if he doesn't play.

I agree. He had a very off night shooting the ball, but most of the shots he took were good shots, they just wouldn't go down for him.

Ray's up and down performances make him to be a pretty inefficient player overall, though he's improved this year over last. There's a reason we have "bad Felton" and "good Felton" comments on the threads. He's a bit schizophrenic.
Even so, he's vital to this team at the moment. His presence in the game with DJ has been very positive for both players.
But he really needs to stop being the guy who misses the shots in the last minute. It's getting ridiculous. I wish he would take the blinders off and dish the ball. Enough of these "there he goes again"(s).
Maybe LB hasn't seen as many Bobcats games as most of us have, and doesn't realize what a poor closer he is in the last minute.

Larry Brown said it the post game he felt better with his two ball handlers in the game. And Swish was behind and needed to get his wind back. He all so said Felton was winded and tired after the 31 point preformance . He said tht open shots he missed he thought was due to him being tired. Felton is really trying to step up his game in little areas. Rebounds , Hes busting his tail on the boards and the numbers show it, Defending the two guards and even small fowards , Hes the best on the ball defender we got . as Wallace is the best over al but gambles to much. Yes he led the team in assist and had seven boards . Hell the kid showed the effort more than most, He just shot the ball bad that game, Felton is going to work well in this system.
I had great hopes (posted yesterday I thought we could upset them) going into this game that we could upset the Celts...I was at the game so I did not have the instant replays of TV so I can only go by what I saw...I thought the team (as a whole) played well and I continue to have think we are getting better with LB here....
The negatives I saw...it appeared that everyone of our big men fumbled/dropped/lost control of at least one dish from someone driving that would/could have been an easy basket...I counted this happening at least 6 times (12 easy points)...JRich looked a little behind (could be expected after sitting from being injured) everyone else since he put up a couple of bricks that completely missed everything and I've never seen him do that before...the drive Ray made with about a min and a half to go was a good drive but it appeared to me (and those watching on TV have the benefit of replay correct me if I saw it wrong) that he basically threw the ball on the glass hoping to get a foul call...I did notice a "sag" in our teams body language after this play but I can't tell you if it was because of Ray or because there was no call (I did not see a foul but that does not mean there was no foul)...the grip I have with Ray on that play was this: Gerald was basically pulling the team along offensively at that point but Gerald was finishing his plays (scoring)...I did not "feel" on that particular play that Ray was trying to do anything other than get a foul call and I would have felt better if I thought he was trying to finish not get a foul call...I have to wonder if it appeared that way to me how it appears to refs (and a team 5-10 vs. a team 15-2 does not get those calls without a finish)...
That was the only real negative I had about Ray from the game...the rest of his shots (if I remeber correctly) appeared to come in the flow of the game...I blame the lack of a win more on the fumbles by our big guys that would have led to easy baskets...I thought this was a game we had a real chance to win and the team played tough...the only thing better would have been a win! That is pretty much how I saw it...

I think he (Felts) may have rushed a few shots at the end of the game when he could have looked to set up others but what about DJ when he was forcing himself also. He didn't do it at the end of the game that is why everyone noticed Felts mistakes but we need both of these guys. There is no way we go anywhere without both. Our problem was on the defensive end when we had no match for the switch leaving DJ on Paul Pierce. That is a no brainer he shots over him with ease. Wallace was a man tonight, he went toe to toe with one of the best players in the game and gave KG hell. No back down or nothing. When we get the right pieces all things will fall in place.

Who does he have on the bench that can contribute? Its not like he has Farmar or someone good on the bench....he would have to go to Carroll or Morrison, who arent good options. Lack of depth means he has to play.

I agree that some consistency would be extremely helpful. I'd even take a lower ceiling just to have a higher floor, so to speak.
The frustrating thing for me with Felton is that he has shown he can some of the things that he gets heavily criticized for: he can hit threes and he can finish games. So, when you know he can do it, it's really frustrating to seem he be so bad, especially at the end of close games.
Felton reminds me of when I choose my drive on a water hole. I know if I hit the ball well, I can probably drive it over the lake. However, I hit the ball well about 1/500 times. So, I should probably lay-up.
I rarely lay-up, at least, not on purpose.
Ray is not the total problem with the team...he like every other player on the team is going to have to play smarter and with more consistency...Speaking for just the Boston game again (IMO) having 5-6 dishes in the lane to our big guys and not a single point was the problem...and it was not just one player making the passes nor just one big fumbling the away...the team has to play better and with more consistency period...
I think if the problem were with just one player LB would have sit them down and forget about them but I don't think that's the case... We have some talent (again IMO) on the team but none of these guys out side of JRich has ever had good coaching...turning around an entire team, the way they think, the way they play, even the way they approach the game is no easy thing to do and takes more than 15 minutes...
The one really good thing we have going for our team (besides a real coach now) is these guys try to play hard and are trying to work LBs system...they keep looking better to me as a team and I think the wins will come...and again I'm not going to blast one player because at given points in time this season they've all looked good and have all looked bad...the team is a work in progress and I feel good about the progress LB is making...:g:

p.s. are you done whining about Ray? Does everyone realize that people don't have perfect games EVERY game? Nobody was complaining about him being a ballhog when he almost went for a triple double. Next topic please!

The problem with Ray though is he has a lot more bad games than good.....
I give him 5 out of 16 good games all year where he as played a all around good game.... good points, FG%, and assist to turnover....
and there is just good and bad..... 5 good - 9 bad.....

That's not necessarily a bad way to judge him. However, he can still be extremely productive and beneficial with a not so hot fg%.
That being said, 2/14 and 1/10 type nights are pretty putrid.

granted there are things that don't show up but when your a team in need of points those are the things that matter most.....

His rebounds and steals have been fantastic though. He has one of the higher rebounding rates for guards, especially pgs, and his steals are good for top 15 in the league, at all positions. That's why I'd add those. Again, not discounting your method, but pointing out what Brown is likely seeing: Felton's hustle and defense demand that he play.
...and while we continually discount and down grade our players other teams would like to have them...I doubt we'd have any problems trading Ray if the FO wanted to trade him...obviously that's not they want at this time so he's doing something LB likes our he'd be on the block...

I have watched almost all of the Bobcats games this year and have come to the conclusion that for some "odd" reason, Raymond Felton thinks that he is the "go-to-guy" at the end of games. He does the same bonehead drive at the closing of the games. Someone needs to check his bank account, because this happens almost every close game. I'm not knocking Felton that he is not a good player, I'm just suggesting that he gives the ball up more during the end of close games. Coming into the draft Felton and Paul had very close expectations of success. Somewhere through these seasons after the draft, Paul's passion and ability to get better has surpassed Felton. I know its not right to compare Felton to Paul but its fair because they both came out of the same draft and went to below avg. teams at the time.
