View Full Version : Minnesota Timberwolves at Charlotte Bobcats 12/1

The Timberwolves have a few players that we debated until we were blue in the face during previous drafts
Rodney Carney
Corey Brewer
Kevin Love
Oddly, none of these guys are performing at a level to write home about. The player that makes this team go is Al Jefferson. 22ppg, 10+ rebounds per game, throw in 1.5 blocks per game and 50% shooting and you wind up with one hell of a player.
The Bobcats have been playing some good ball over the last four games, we're a respectable 2-2. ( could have been 3-1 if we didn't let the Celtics off the hook ). The next two games against the Wolves Monday and the Thunder Wednesday smell like a 2 game winning streak to me.
Anybody else smell it?

I'm probably going to the game by myself. If any regulars want my extra ticket, send me a PM...4th row behind Larry Brown.

If we win the next 2 games, we'll be 7-11...Guess I could live with that.

Anybody else smell it? I'm actually a little worried about these games only because they look easy, and this team over the years has put up lackluster performances against NBA dregs, as opposed to getting up for marquee teams like the Celtics of the last two years, and the Lakers since year one. They smell like trap games to me, but with the coach we now have, I'm only slightly anxious about these games, and think, if the guys can stay focused and stop with the unforced TOs (Raymond!), we're looking at 7-11....and that ain't bad all things considered.

On the off chance MJ is there, please make sure to tell him Rashad needs to get back on the Wolves' plane.

It is nice to win games when you are the underdog, but we must win the games against lesser teams. This game is a game in which we should win by a comfortable margin of
10+. Just as long as we play up to our potential and play smartly. A loss tonight would be so demoralizing, I dont even want to think about it.

Cats (5-11), Wolves (4-11),... they (Wolves) crave our record and they're not gonna let some 8000 fans get in their way.
All jokes aside, tonight's a win-win situation, in that the Cats cannot (must not) lose. I worry about the vs Thunder game though, now THEY have (and want) something to prove, our guys on the floor should just keep their heads clear and heed Larry's voice and it's a +2.

They've beaten Detroit and Philly, and they've been playing .500 ball over the last 6 games.
This is no "gimme", but I still expect us to win (assuming none of the starters shoots 10% and has 6 TOs).

Agree with Spectre this is no give me . Love has been steping up as of late. All so read Brewer is out for the season. With Brown coaching this is one we should win. Coach Biscuit let us play below our abilitys with bad teams . I don't Brown allows that to happen. This game should tell if we have got that much better.

OMG!! Proof the NBA is rigged, or Yahoo Sports is psychic. It is 4:15. The game starts at 7:00 tonight. Yet go to Yahoo and click on the game, it has 10 - 10 with 10:05 left in the 1st. See, PROOF the NBA is rigged! They follow a predetermined format just like Pro Wrestling! Damn you David Stern! Why cant the Bobcats be written in as World Champs this year!? You owe MJ, remember?
LOL. (not really a conspiracy theorist, but why would Yahoo have that up?)

I rushed to find GameChannel cover, maybe some stream links, checked the game thread here, and was still confounded. It'd be neat though if the result hits 10-10 with 1:55 into the game, that'd be, I donnuh, chilling.

J-Rich on fire!
Ray, you just had to hold the ball for the last shot didn't you. Just stop shooting and pass the damn ball to J-Rich!
Why only 8 minutes for DJ? Curious.
Terrific defense on Al Jefferson tonight! Shutting the big man down. Now if we can just stop Mike Miller from getting open 3's we'll win this going away!

Haha...nice to see the Bobcats playing the ball in the paint more...Okafor, Richardson is having a good game, May isn't doing too horribly...Felton can't shoot but is doing a very good job finding the open player (11 assist) and Dudley just is pissing me off tonight...Put Dwayne Jones in...his defense wasn't that bad and he wasn't taken 1000000 shots...

The NBA needs to buy the NBA on NBC music and replace the piano with it in all the commercials.

I've never seen the place that empty. In one shot, almost the entire end--lower bowl and the section above it-- were empty except the first few rows.

Man seriously! I could listen to that over and over again moreso than that bland ass "look at me through the years" piano piece. I know what they're going for, but they've slammed it 18.6 thousand feet into the ground and if there was a higher power he would render me deaf every time that came on, it annoys me more than anything in the entire world right now for some reason. I usually just mute it as soon as the break is on because I know it's coming two times at least.

Good win, and hard fought. Okafor was awesome in the 4th and just took it over. 24 pts, 10 reb and 5 blks is great! Ray was solid at 14 pts and 14 asts. J-Rich started us off well w/ 19 pts in the 1st half and finished with 25. Crash solid w/ 15 pts and 9 reb. DJ fouled out, but only got 20 min in tonight and got 9 pts and 4 asts.
ALong13
12-01-2008, 09:32 PM
Carroll no minutes tonight, must be in the doghouse...I'd love to get his contract off our hands...his and/or Nazrs...
Okafor proved tonight why he deserved that contract, despite what people say he does have an offensive game and he did it against Al Jefferson, who is no joke....Okafor 24 points 10 rebounds 5 blocks and only 1 TO...I'll take that any night...I'd love Charlotte to continue giving him the ball, they did very well playing in the paint tonight, and if I think they could develop that side of the game a little more it would improve them quite a bit...
Jason Richardson also had a great game, though I'd still give the game ball to OK50...Augustin fouled out after 9 pts 4 assists...not sure what was up with the lack of PT...Felton very good game stats wise, 14 pts, 14 assist only 1 TO...shooting 5-12, not too bad....
Good win, we need these wins, the wins against teams we should win against...6-11, now lets get to 7-11

Good team defense tonight. Very impressed with how we shut down Jefferson. Except of leaving Mike Miller open for 3's ALL NIGHT LONG! Damn, what's up with that? He's the only consistent 3 pt threat they have and we left him open all night!
Good win, now let's get our first winning streak of the season on Wednesday.

I've never seen the place that empty. In one shot, almost the entire end--lower bowl and the section above it-- were empty except the first few rows. It was impressive. I was the only one in the upper parts (above the rails) from section 216-210....seriously. Overall, 6% of the upper sections were full and maybe something like 65-70% of the lower bowl; club seats were fairly occupied as usual. I know the players would like to have more, but it was cool as hell (being the loner I am) to have that much open space. With the bathroom and concessions right outside 215, this was every bit as comfortable as watching a game on teevee....except for having to pay to eat, but still......
Lots of good things to take from the game: most noteworthy the phenomenal ball movement all game long. That's how the offense should look every game; it was just a thing of beauty. Also, great interior defense; though we gave up some offensive boards, the paint was owned by the Cats tonight.
Also of note were JRich's two :o alley-oops: one from DJ which he caught and slammed behind his head; the other, from Raymond, was caught, and followed by a 180 tomahawk....pure nastiness, and the best dunks I've ever seen live, that I can recall at least, especially the second one; the bench exploded on that one! That was a special treat for the few and the proud that made it to the Arena tonight ;)
Bad things were defensive communication and missed assignments: how many times is enough for a perimeter player to double down on a post player and leave either Miller or Gomes open for 3? That's basically all these two guys do is shoot 3s and it's like the defense assumed they were the only 2 that couldn't. One of Gomes 3s was a result of a moving screen on Gerald that wasn't called, but the rest have really no excuse.
Still, nothing's more fun than seeing a win no matter against whom, and we WON!!!! Let's put together a streak now!!!

The MN broadcast team kept going on and on and on about the crowd. They called Jordan's post-playing career a failure. They wrote off Charlotte as an NBA town, and spent about 5 or 6 minutes of the first half talking about the possibility of the team leaving town. this is what i get watching this team EVERY NIGHT on League Pass. it's depressing as all hell, but i keep watching.
that said - good solid win. Mek was good. Another good game from Raymond. This never really flet like it was in doubt, and i dont feel that way very often with the bcats. time for a winning streak. i think we can go 3 of our next 4, and get back wo within shot of .500.
i want to see this team get within distance of the 8th spot, and see if people show up. if the fans dont show up for these guys if they make a playpff push, it's over.

I'd guess that's the last time Randy Whitman comes to Charlotte as a head coach. He's spiraling out of control. Brian Cardinal and Kevin Ollie playing significant minutes? He pulls his best offensive player, Al Jefferson for not playing D, but Jefferson had six blocks. Emeka's the coach killer!

One thing the MINN announcers did keep repeating over and over that was positive was about DJ. They really seem to love his game and how well he has played so far his rookie year. They couldn't shut up about him.
