We need a player like Lamar Odom, OJ Mayo, or someone like that. If we are looking for a center, Marc Gasol in Memphis is a guy that we shoudlnt need to give too much for. If we wanted to get him we would have to give up felton, diaw, and much more. I think we could get either OJ Mayo or Rudy Gay in a package with Marc Gasol. My goal would be to have a starting lineup like this. DJ, Mayo/Gay,GW,Emeka,Marc Gasol. However, I don't know if we could keep our three core pieces and make this trade work.

In the link above I did this trade: From Memphis: Oj Mayo, Hakim Warrick, Marc Gasol, From Charlotte: Raymond Felton, Sean May, Adam Morrison, Nazr Mohammad, a buttload of cash from MJ, and Probably our 1st round pick. Now this trade would be risky, and I dont even think i would accept this. But thats just one of the possibilities for us. Now that i look at it deeper, this is a horrible trade for the grizzlies, but wqe can give them a lot of cash and some of our picks . The biggest player in this trade is our picks.

I just want to see what you guys think about rebuilding and such.

I believe NOW is the time when the philosophical trade ideas come forward.....

O.J., Gasol, and Gay? Are you really thinking they would get rid of their best three players?

If the FO finds some way that they could bring in Gay, Mayo, and Gasol.. I would personally go kiss every single one of them.

p.s. Gay Mayo haha:biggrin:

It was Gay Love for a few amazing minutes on draft night before the Memphis GM realized what a horrible mistake he had done and traded Love to the Wolves.

couldnt we trade felton + nazr or someone for lamar odom, considering odom is apparantly on the trading block.

if we want lamar odom, which i think would be a great move, then we would have to give up gerald wallace. And as far as the memphis trade goes, I was saying either Mayo or Gay, not both in the same trade. Those two are playing against each other right now just as much as they are playing against the other team. We would get Gasol who is a young big man with skills and potential, and we would get Warrick and either Mayo or Gay. I think it would be a great trade for us and it would give us a very bright future and it would give the grizzlies cap room to unleash for 2010. Of course, we would have to give away a couple of first round picks for the next few years in order to get memphis to do this trade. I live in North Carolina but my #1 favorite team has always been the lakers. However, I have a passion for Bobcats basketball and they are my favorite east coast team. I would hate for us to give away Gerald Wallace to get Lamar Odom, but he is struggling mentally with his role on the lakers right now and i think he would provide everything we need at small forward. Maybe we could get Chris Mihm out of the deal too so that he could give us an inside presence. He was pretty good for the Lakers before he got hurt a year ago. And although I think Lamar Odom would help this team greatly, I think the better trade for us would be with the Grizzlies. I really would like to see Gerald stay but if we are shopping him then send him to memphis in this deal.

oh and instead of Nazr we might have to put Gerald Wallace in there. Or maybe substitute him for May sop that we would ship out Wallace, Felton, Morrison, and Mohammad and a few years worth of picks and we would bring in, Mayo or Gay, Warrick, and Gasol. I hope MJ checks this out. this would benefit both teams a ton.

GOBOBCATS24, They won't be getting rid of Mayo. They traded for him for a reason. I think you're undervaluing Gasol by a wide margin. He's just as big a part of their future as Mayo. Gay could be the odd man out, and they could put Warrick in there, but I don't know.

Gay is a lot like Wallace, maybe a little better, but we'd have to give up too much to get him so I don't think that would be a viable idea. I'd love to have him, but I don't think it's a possibility

There's no chance of it but Maya would be better off with the bobcats... his team is last in crowd size in the league. Atleast the little we get is better air time for him....but it's not going to happen.

I'd played with the idea of acquiring Odom too, but in the end it doesn't seem like a positive deal for the team. He's an expiring contract and probably unlikely to re-sign, so it would be a simple salary dump, not an addition.

There will be very few centers available as part of the 2009 free agent class so the additional cap space may go to waste for at least a year unless there's another position the team would pursue.

Here's a list of the 2009 NBA Free Agents (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=09FreeAgents-080915)

When we look at trades we have to think about the other teams needs too. First, what does a 2 loss team "need"? Secondly, what GM would call Rod Higgins and bring up Naz's name?

Lastly, "Time to Rebuild"....what are we tearing down? I would love to rebuild b/c that means we have gone somewhere or built something aka playoffs. Sacramento is rebuilding, we are still searching for a solid foundation.

I prefer to think of it as the Bobcats erection... hopefully, it will last longer than four hours.

If we indeed get a big (which we probably will) I think center is what they're (FO and LB) trying to find...the problem is every name I've heard (B. Miller, E. Curry, J. James, Collins) that is being shopped leaves me cold...I really see none of these guys as a great help...Miller is the best of the bunch but what does he have left...would he get along with LB (no great defense there)...just leaves me cold...unless anybody has heard a name I have not being shopped that is not an awe inspiring list..(I left Kaman off because he is injured and LAC has made clear they will not trade Camby)...any other name?
