Both still need to shoot from the field better, but they're both doing a lot of great things.
Felton has a more well rounded game. DJ has been a much better ft shooter, which was huge tonight.
I like them both. I'm glad they're both on our team.
WHOOPS! Thought you were talking about Felton and DJ.
Agree with Swedd!

Rose is clearly the better player... but so far, I'd put DJ a close second behind him tied with OJ as the next best player from this draft. Great steal at #9

I hope you mean rose is the better player right now.
way to early to judge rose as clearly better.
DJ was out for vengeance and he got it

I think DJ is progressing faster than even Rose . Leaving college Rose seemed to be much futher ahead of Augustin. Though i agree Rose might have a slight edge its ever so slight right now. DJ seems to be picking up more on the defencive side of the ball.
Though DJ did make a few rookie mistakes tonight . He all ways looks under control.
Side note him and Felts are really starting to feed off each other.

dav7z, i really like DJ and he is clutch at the FT , which is something we needed really badly..
but, rose had a bad night...DJ has had bad nights before..
i think it's too early to tell, but i'm very impressed by DJ, his upswing is enormous..

yeah, these are great points and i agree with all of them...DJs progress is pretty impressive, it may have to do with LB being his coach...

Do you not think the defence had a little to do with the bad night Rose had. In the turny last year Rose got into the lane at will . Tonight he had a much tougher time.

maybe or maybe not..i was more preoccupied with gordon and some of the big guys..
i know that our defense was impressive in the OT..and i know that we did a great job on rose then.
but i can't speak for the remainder of the game..

Yes, until proven otherwise, Rose is clearly the better player. I said DJ is a close second, and he is.. but Rose is still obviously better.
DJ have a good game, Derrick had a bad one. Simple as that

well if we are comparing the two the only way to truly do so is in a head to head matchup and round 1 goes to DJ. I commented several times tonight about how well he kept Rose under control. Defensively he was spectacular and clutch to boot.

Defensively he was spectacular and clutch to boot. I agree. I haven't seen Rose play much, but looking at his numbers, he's not "clearly" the better player than DJ. He's got the advantage of having outplayed DJ in the tourney, being the number one pick, playing in Chicago, and having a larger frame.
On the other hand, DJs pretty damn clutch, whereas Rose....
Plus, like Mustachio says, defensively, Rose struggled getting past DJ, and on those occassions he did, Mek was there to swat his shit outta there!
Give me the Saint in the battle of the star rookie PGs!

It would be interesting to see how DJ would do if he got nearly 10 more minutes of playing time per game.
A couple of things are obvious though. Rose will always be the better rebounder and defender because of his frame and wingspan.
If DJ got the minutes however, he could definitely average more assists, more points and more steals than Rose.
I don't know if DJ will ever shoot that high but I think he'll settle somwhere around .450 in his career because he's a smart player and he will learn where he can get his shots from. Right now he's attempting shots from all over the place and he hasn't yet developed any consistency. I'd argue that his most consistent shot is the 3.
DJ is also the better FT shooter and 3 point shooter and just jump shooter in general. I feel like he has a better form and stroke than rose.
Both are great ball handlers with disgusting cross overs but I think Rose might be just a tad quicker than DJ.
Overall they're both tremendous guards and I hope that we can see this develop into a Chris Paul vs. Deron Williams sort of match-up (with DJ hopefully playing the part of CP hehe).
edit: I just checked DJ's stats as a starter (6 games). He averaged 39 minutes per game, 18.8 ppg, 7.0 apg, 1.2 spg, .451 FG%, .586 3-FG%

good find , i think you're almost comparing apple to oranges since DJ is not starting and getting the minutes..while 6 games is not statistically significant, it shows DJs potential..

Rose is bigger and has better hops...making him a strong finisher. He also has pretty decent vision but you couldn't tell it from last night.
IMO if Chicago didn't have so many doofuses he'd be a lot better; as it stands now he really doesn't have anyone to mentor him thru the tough times like DJ has with Felton. Hinrich maybe, but he's been injured.
I'd take Rose over DJ, but DJ ain't a bad 2nd prize.

They are both good players and bring something slightly different to the table...but I tend (not because we have him) to like the way DJ runs games slightly better...I'm basing that off when he is in and Ray is out...not "trashing" Ray...I just like the way DJ runs the game...he appears to have excellent court vision...I want to see his assist go up and I think they will...too many times when he is in now he is being placed into "has to shoot" mode rather than run the team mode...

What he said Augustin will be a problem once he continues to hit the weights & gets more use to NBA play.

Good point playoffs.
I went into the draft not caring a lot for Rose (wanted Beasley/Mayo/Westbrook), but ended up seeing more Bulls games this year on LP's free preview. He looked SO good for a 20 year old rookie, and he's had to do it like playoffs said...without a decent coach...and without any decent vets. IMO he's the only reason that team has won over 5 games.
He's strong like Felton, can drive and finish like DJ but is even better because of his hops (he can get REALLY high). He's not Chris Paul (vision and just plain smarts) but I do believe he'll be in some All Star games very soon.
BRNC I can see how you like DJ's game better. He's more of a traditional PG that plays a team game...Rose is a dominating PG who'll also lead his team in scoring in a lot of games.

Spectre Rose might make the All Star squad as a rook he's basically battling Rondo & Devin Harris as reserve picks.

DJ does have a avantege with other ball handlers around him . With Felton out on the court has to take some pressure of . Daiw all so handles and passes quite well. So that might give a advantege to DJ. But even with that DJ has closed the gap on Rose. This could turn out to be whos better for years to come . DJ is showing he deserves being a lotery pick . I hated the pick on draft night but know now we got lucky to get him now because hes playing like a top five pick.
Another question about Bell , should we take him out of the starting line up and go with Felton and Augustin. At least Til Bell gets use to the system . He seems to have a hard time adjusting and is pressing mighty hard.

no sense in putting added pressure on DJ by starting him. Let him stay healthy and fresh throughout the year, and use his energy as a boost off the bench. He should get plenty of minutes, but no sense in starting him just yet. I really hate the idea of trading Felton. Dj has plenty more to do before he proves he can start for good in this league.

Me i have no desire at all to trade Felton . But i have no problem starting DJ along with Felton til Bell gets adjusted.
Looking at the up coming games could really decide the season . We could really gain some confidence . I could see us winning our next seven . Things are really starting to fall into place ,
Howard looked great last night , Hollins is becoming a force of energy when in the game,
Diaw the p/f we havn't had all year, Mek starting to become aggressive , Feltons pride in defencive assignments, And DJ on the seane.
I can see us winning our next seven.

with starter minutes DJ is out performing Rose and Mayo
to date with 35 plus minutes:
DJ
20.7 points actual 13.9
2 rebounds 1.9
6.55 assist 4.5
1.33 steals .0038
2.5 threes 1.69
Rose
17.7 points
4.0 rebounds
6.3 assist
1.04 steals
.416 threes
Mayo
20.8 points
4.2 rebounds
2.7 assist
1.16 steals
1.8 threes
DJ is a better all around player who can fill up the stat line. If Felton gets traded you will definitely hear the chants for ROY.
Secondly, DJ won that game last night. Clutch is hitting 3 for 3 with the game on the line (this guy gets my ROY vote, though I am a bit biased). Rose gets all the hype but what cats is he dominating DJ?
Dont drink the Rose cool aid. DJ for ROY!!!!

DJ could be in contention for ROY at the end...the problem is that the ROY is voted by sports writers ..
DJ has several things against him, that unfortunately are out of his controls...the way the media hates on charlotte...Rose and others are playing in teams with bigger markets..and someone like Rose is already a bigger name due to his college career, so he'll stand out in the voters minds

Though I agree with you, the numbers still dont lie. T-Mobile has him at 7 for this year on rankings which is ludacris

I guess LB wants a cough reliable cough 3pt shooter other than a floor general on court to let Diaw kick out to him if he becomes open. That's why Bell is starting and that's why Carroll is getting a lot of minutes. Felton is a streaky 3pt shooter so that's maybe why DJ comes from bench. If both DJ and Ray are on court there is Carroll with them very often.
Maybe we are just showcasing Hammer and letting Raja to play it out, I don't know. But Ï guess we may be trying to have a 3pt shooter on court at SG/Sf position most of time.

Except DJ has significantly better FG% when starting. But it is only 6 games so far, so it is still may by just a coincidence.

I guess nobody mentioned that Dj currently (knock on wood) has a streak of 42-43 consecutive free throws made (I'm too lazy to check if he missed his first or second FT in the last game he missed a FT). I know many of you ar aware of this but I think it should be praised over and over.)
