Belinelli on a Roll: Golden State Warriors guard Marco Belinelli has been on fire of late, despite logging eight DNP-Coach's Decisions and another eight times playing less than 10 minutes this season under Don Nelson. His name was prominent in a trade rumor with the New Jersey Nets, but he has diligently worked hard.
"It's so different," he told the Contra Costa Times after Saturday's win at Charlotte. "Everything's different. Oh my god, one year and a half. It was tough because I didn't play. One year is long to sit and watch your teammates play."
Belinelli got his shot with injuries suffered by starters Corey Maggette and Stephen Jackson, but he's out-performed what anyone truly expected. With Monta Ellis getting back into the mix soon as well plus the solid play of new guard Jamal Crawford, it will be interesting to see if Belinelli gets a chance to maintain his pace.
And what pace is that? He has played 30 or more minutes in the Warriors last four games and 20 or more minutes in the last seven. Over those seven games he is averaging 16.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.14 steals, shooting 45% from the field and 38% from three-point range. Except for the shooting percentages which have taken a tiny dip, those numbers are roughly double his season averages.
Still, the Warriors are only 2-5 in those seven games, so it doesn't seem that anything Belinelli is doing is necessarily making them a team more likely to win games, at least not yet. It will be very interesting to see if he keeps his new role when Jackson, Ellis and Maggette get healthy, but it's not very likely. What is likely is if the Warriors do choose to make another trade, presumably for a power forward who can run or a point guard, Belinelli is now another attractive bargaining chip to take one of the team's larger (Maggette) contracts.

With Ballwhore or whatever he wants to call himself more of less letting us know that a trade is in the works and Golden State is a partner, after reading this I am sure Belinelli is in the mix. Their seems to be no trade straight up that works with us and the Warriors. With that said the rumors are that the teams looking to trade the most before or near the trade deadline are...Sacramento, Portland, New York, Oklahoma City and Toronto. I am sure other teams are involved but these are the teams most in the rumor mill. The Lakers and a few others may also make a move or two but it's not like they are sucking it up right now. With any of the teams mentioned see if the trade checker can find something that may be possible for the cats in a trade. Too many teams have cap issues and I hate doing multiple team trades.
