After a couple of days off, we have finally have some action back on the court.
There are some good stories all over the court in this game.
Raymond Felton -vs- Devin "Thanks Mark Cuban" Harris.
Ray is going to have his hands full. I don't think that any player has elevated his game more over the course of the last season than Harris. Take a look at these numbers: 24ppg, 6.8 apg, 1.5 spg on 46.7% from the field. The kid has been fierce.
Raja "The Kobe Strangler" Bell -vs- Vinsanity
Harris has stolen a lot of the spotlight on the Nets, but Vince is still doing his thing to a tune of 23.0 ppg, 5.1rpg and 4.5 apg. Raja's rep is that he's a lockdown man on man defender. This should be a fun matchup to watch.
Boris Diaw -vs- Yi
With the way that Boris has been playing since he's joined the Cats, this is going to be no contest. Yi should prepare to be abused.
Okafor -vs- Lopez
In the month of December, Emeka has averaged 18ppg, 11.5rpg, 1.9 bpg on 61.8% shooting. Welcome to the NBA Brook.
So what do you guys think will happen in tonight's game? will we make it 4 out of 5 wins?

I'm don't know about this game. The way Devin Harris is playing he's like an MVP or something. I hope we win though.

should be a good game got to contain harris though

I watched some of the Nets-Mavericks game and Devin Harris was just plain scary; we could be in for Crawford V2. Hope not, but we better be prepared for that and be able to do it in other ways.
Crash, Mek & Diaw should all have the advantage in their matchups...and I'd love for Mek to welcome Lopez into the NBA properly. Contain the other guys, hit our shots and we'll win.

Well this is a home and home series. I sort of expect the Nets to win tonight and the Cats to win tomorrow. Dont see a sweep for either side.
If this game was at home I'd pick us but I have no confidence in this team on the road so I don't know.
BTW if a link pops up please post it since this game isn't televised.

Not that it changes anything now, but maybe Michael Thompson can answer this...why do we have road games that aren't televised? I understand home games not being televised, but not road games.
Most likely to prevent the TV crew from having to travel on Christmas night.

Mike Fratello says he doesn't want to take anything away from our ten wins but only three of them are against teams over 500. Sounds like he needs to reassure himself of how sucky we are. Maybe a little fear we will upset his Nets.

He also said the thing about the Bobcats only having three wins over teams with better than .500 records. Well, here's a news flash for him...if the Bobcats win tonight, they'll still only have three wins over above .500 teams. Might want to check their own record before going there, that's all.

the announcer is ridiculous...earlier they also said we are the WORST team in the NBA, simply because we have scored the fewest amount of pts per game.
what about the W-L record? or how many pts we're scorign after the Diaw trade? it's obvious these guys are a bunch of jokes, a little more research would help
We need to build a bigger lead if we're going to hold on and win this b/c you know that in the 4th the Nets will just give the ball to VC and Harris and let them take over and we have no stars to be able to keep up with that.

As far as trading, I'd say we need to figure out something with Felton, because he flat out almost lost the game for us when we were down by just a handful. We need to make some bench moves I think, cut loose what isnt producing, and see what we can get...
On another note, I was happy to see Singletary play, and frankly he seems like he was a good investment for the team...Now all we need to do is draft Curry and we'll be set.

Very impressive win for the Cats tonight. Very good games for Okafor, Crash, Diaw and Ray. I did not see the game, but assume that Bell was on Harris as they shut him down for the most part. If it was not Bell, then Ray must have done one hell of the defensive job.

Felton was on Harris almost exclusively and he did a great job. We also sagged on him whenever he drove (first half mainly & the 3rd) making him give up the ball. Picking up an offensive right at the first (the Raja Bell Flop!) made him somewhat cautious from the beginning.
Bell played VC...and at first Carter was doing well...was something like 5 of 8. He started playing him really tight tho and VC ended up 8 of 21...and 2 of those were 3s at the end.
Our defense for most of the game was just sweet! In the 4th they got 3 shots at getting a score yet we held them off every time.
Felton hit 3 clutch shots, Boris one very high arcing shot when we really needed it and Crash nailed 3 FTs to really drive the nail in.
This one was a blast to watch...and we won!!!!!!!

Good good Bobcats game tonite. I thought we played a much smarter game than the Nets. You can see how better coached we are. This team is working fine, considering where its coming from. I kind of had a feeling we'd hold on for the win. Me like!
It was GREAT to have 2 real announcers from the other side. Fratello and Alpert are seasoned pro's; unlike the simpletons we often have to watch on League Pass. For once I didn't miss Steve Martin, Henry and Steph. Those guys were awesome.
Crash had a quiet but powerful game I thought; when he went out we suffered. Ray made some clutch shots, and Okafor did well again.
Diaw got a CRUCIAL basket in the 4th when we badly needed one.
Bad night for Matt; but I bet he turns it around tomorrow.
Maybe tomorrow we'll see Hollins instead of Nazr; though Nazr didn't do too bad. It's just hurts though to watch him....

Couple other notes...as you guys have said the adjustment LB did for that high pick and roll was the exact right call! Gets a more agile Boris out to defend and leaves Mek playing goalie in the paint.
The ball movement, esp. compared to pre-Diaw was very nice. In time our TOs and those 3 second calls will go down as the guys are still adjusting to the pass first mentality.
A strong test will be tomorrow night. If we can take that one too then that playoff thread may indeed be justified.

Felton all most lost the game? What game was you watching. Felts held Harris to 4 of 14 while scoring 19 points his self on 6 of 9 shooting? Props to Bell all so for stoping V.C in his tracks. Diaw flearting with a triple. Mek 20+ again Wallace taking just whats given all great games .
Felton player of the game for a great job on Harris. Out playing him on both sides of the floor.

Spectre, thanks for the breakdown on the defensive gameplan tonight. I would love to have seen Ray play the Defense on Harris that shut him down. Defense has not been his strongest asset, so maybe he got some pointers from Bell. But it is just great to hear that the Defense was by Ray!
I love the way this team is coming together. Now it we just keep our heads on straight and dont blow the home half of this back to back, then we will be flying high! I am starting to feel more and more like this team can compete. I hated losing J-Rich and Dudley, but this trade is clearly not as one sided as many people were saying. Bell is starting to pay dividends, and Diaw has been awesome. And even Singleton has been helpful. I think LB knew exactly what he was doing, and it is paying dividends now.

The only part of the game I managed to catch was through the link on channelsurfing, when the 2nd qtr started with a 23-21 lead and quickly lead to a 29-23 defecit and I'm superstitious enough to know when I'm bringing my team bad luck so that was it...back to eating and watching movies with some fam...
Then I ask to turn it over to ESPNEWS at 11 and 'lo and behold a WIN!!!!!
Thanks for games recaps by y'all cause I haven't the slightest what happened. I was blown away by GW's stats: 16 pts on 8 shots, 13 rebs, 6 asts, block, stl....statwise, this was his most complete game of the season, and this needs to be the template for all games for him, and one in which he is most comfortable. Last year there were some misguided souls who said he was "ballhog" and that he was jealous that JRich was getting shots, etc.; this proves that Gerald just wants to play ball regardless of shots and points. I have to believe this is the happiest he's ever been as a Bobcat...it is an actual TEAM out there, and thusly, no pressure for him to have to shoulder anymore of a load than the other 4 guys out there with him. Great stuff!
Boris looked awful during the 3 minute stretch I watched, but was glad to see another 3D stat-stuffed night....especially glad to hear from y'all he hit a clutch 4 qtr shot.
Other than that, sucks it wasn't televised so I couldn't tape it, but a win is all that matters here (consecutive road wins?!?!?! Oh, the beauty!!), and am all the more jazzed for tomorrow night's game. All BCP minions, do your holiday duty and come down to the arena and help the Cats "rock this bitch"!!!

I was riding from Durham to Charlotte during the game, but was listening on the radio. I managed to catch the end of the 4th on that link that spectre posted (nice work!).
So glad we got this win! Larry's a genius and that's why he gets paid the big bucks. However, I think it makes me want tomorrow night's win even more. It could potentially have tie-breaking significance at the end of the season.
Diaw keeps sniffing triple-double territory! I hope he gets one this season. His passing has been great, and he's been a revolutionary figure for this team.
TattoodCats4life
12-27-2008, 08:53 AM
Diaw would have had a triple double if they had played DJ and Hollins with him, as Hollins is a little looser on boards and alot of plays with him and DJ go from DJ to him to DJ to the net or DJ to the Diaw to the 2 guard on duty to the net. 5-8 min of that combo and he would have had it...maybe tonight..

Devin Harris would also probably have scored 40 points. DJ didn't look that good last night; he had no confidence on his shot and he struggled on offense whenever they'd double team him.
Maybe the ankle is still bothering him?
The entire starting group looked very good...the bench not so much.

DJ's ankle must still be sore. I wish one of our reporters out there would tell us something about it  .
Hollins isn't really necessary against NJ as the match-ups don't leave him very useful. Mek and even Nazr can handle Lopez and/or Boone without much help; and it does't seem that the Nets play 2 bigs very often. Those guys are so slow that Hollins would probably go nuts from having to stand around so much; and start knocking people around just because he has to; he's Ryan.
On the other hand; I STILL think playing Okafor/Hollins and/or Nazr/Hollins together a bit, would give us an OVERWHELMING advantage for those minutes .
