Caveman or Camby... Toronto might attempt a sign and trade with Bosh. Phoenix had thoughts to unload Amare or Shaq (I'd definitely take the former), Jermaine O'Neal? Um.. I'm not too sure
neither of the O'neals, not Camby, (is caveman sheed or al j?), bosh and a'mare yes

LAC Camby: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=csqduf funny how the contracts would've matched up perfectly in a Camby for Mek/May trade...

LAC Kaman: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=afx3xw would have worked perfectly with May included from us...

TOR: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=aalxqp would work in the offseason I believe? Draft a scoring wing and we're fine

PHO: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=b7ehkn draft a scoring 2 and we're fine.

Not saying we should, but these trades did work

See what I mean about teams "tanking" it! We are like 1.5 or 2 games ahead of GS. We go there tomorrow, and they are going to hold out one of their most potent scorers. Tell me this is not tanking. What a crock of crap! I want to win, and expect we will. And we are still in the Playoff hunt - barely. But I have no respect for tankers. I hope they get what is coming to them!

Obviously, we all want the Bobcats to win every game they should and some of the others as well. If they take care of their own schedule and the other teams keep us out of the playoffs, then that is what it is.
I like these updates though as they save me the trouble of figuring out who to root for in various games each night.

I am going to go ahead and say it...the east is now better than the west. Sure, you could look at the records of the top teams and see that their 4th-9th ranked teams have more wins than the East's 4th-9th, but then take a look at the 10-15 spots. They have 6 cellar dwellers who would all be next to last place in the east, which means that those top teams records are inflated because they play those terrible teams more often than the east teams do. Then, taking into account the fact that east-west matchups happen at roughly half the pace as intra-conference games, you still see that about half the playoff teams in the west have lost more games against eastern teams than they have western teams. By the way, Boston is the only team in the east to have lost more games to the west than to the east.

Case closed. The East is better.

Red stars are teams we are with in 4 games of...

I have us losing to any team in the top 5 of either conference, winning to any team in the bottom of the west, so teams we SHOULD win or loose to. The only X factor is how we play against the teams we are with in 4 games of, in the east

My biggest concern is going into the last 4 games on the road. I think we have an excellent chance of being anywhere from 7th - 1 game out of 8th as we enter those road games. That is where I fear we may be letting it get away. But perhaps we have a stronger run before and build up a bit of a lead on our competition for the Playoff spots. That, or if OKC, Chicago and NJ feel they are out of it at that time, I wouldn't put it past them to "tank" in the final week. That would be to our benefit. But I kinda see Chicago and NJ hanging around in contention until the end.

Wow, I too have been watching the standings pretty die hard. Can't believe that we are actually looking to pull it off this year. As long as we do not take a night off I think we would be looking at a 6th or 7th placing. But even an 8th ( although not wanting is possible) .

With the 8th seed we would play the Cavs which we are 0-3 and avg loss of 23 points)

With the 7th Seed (bos or Orl.. for this purpose we say Bos) we are 1-1 with them an 8 point Victory and a 5 point Loss.

With the 6th seed we would play Orlando. We are 0-3 against them but they haven't beat us down 12pt loss, and 2 5 point losses

Atlanta same thing we have been beat by 5 points per game. Miami we are 1-2 against the 2 losses were 4 pts each.

So the way I see it if we can get ourselves into the 7th or 6th Seed then we have a great chance of making it into the second round. The Cavs just kill us. But we have a chance against Boston, Orlando and Atlanta depending how they shake up it could be either of them.

I would feel real good about us locking up the 6th or 7th , then if the 7th seed and we off Boston we would more than likely meet Orlando in the 2nd round.

The cavs would probably face Atlanta in the 2nd.

OK. We were right here in late January. We were 1.5 games out of 8th and playing well, and then Crash went down for a couple weeks and DJ missed a couple weeks. And we sunk from 1.5 out to something like 4.5 out and fell to next to last in the East, ahead of only the Wizards.

We are healthy now, and playing well as a team. We have a solid rotation, health and confidence. Now, I also recall we paid a couple eggs at Home in very important games earlier this season and that killed some momentum we had built up. Cannot allow that to happen anymore this season. We must protect our Home. Atlanta must go down Friday.

No East games tonight, so I started looking at Friday's games.

Lot of interesting stuff going on here. This is what I think we want to happen:
Bobcats over Hawks (clearly)
Magic over Nets
Celtics over Cavs (we probably want the Celtics to regain that #1 spot)
Warriors over Pistons

Then there's this interesting game:

Bucks vs. Bulls

Who do we like here? I'm thinking Bulls since we have the tie-breaker over them. Then again, is one of these teams likely to wilt over the next month and a half more than the other team?

Good point, plus we get a chance to hand Chicago a loss later on, and we don't have that option with the Bucks.

I don't believe the progress we've achieved since the beginning of the season. Although I believe our heavy road schedule would probably make us fall back eventually, even being in playoff race at this stage of the season drives me crazy. Now I just enjoy these moments and 5 game winning streak.

Good, but honestly the celtics at their house, we did it last year with the biscuit at the helm, so certainly a HUNGRY cats team with a not so good KG (if he's back at all) and hell they may even be resting ALL their starters at that point...it's going to be fun... Honestly looking forward to seeing Marbury v. DJ. (I prefer watching DJ versus the better PGs as he seems to out "point gaurd" them better the Ray). Also the Magic last game of the season you know darn well as I do they wont play anyone of their important players as they couldn't risk having a pre-playof injury.

Also, please no one forget we have an awesome group outing planned for hte last friday night home game...4/3 V. Miami. See my thread about it or PM me, it should be a freaking ball if we get enough people to come out.

Also I think we can take Boston at Boston. I still think if we play hard and don't lay down we could have a 40 win season. Couple of games under 500.

Outside of the last few games being road games we have the easiest closing schedule. I also think we will take orlando at their house. They will be resting their starters since they will be locked in already. Unless it tightens enough to make them need the win for a better seed.

Tonight is crucial, yet again. On the road, taking our 5 game Win streak into NY. The back end of a back to back. If we pull this win, we are within 1 game of Chicago. And if somehow GSW can take out the Bucks, we would be in 9th place with being only 1 game behind Chicago. Gotta keep up momentum because we next travel to San Antonio and that wont be easy.

Tat,

We certainly will need to be full strength when we go up there (Juwan included) to Beantown. I don't know that I agree that DJ is better vs. good pgs than Ray, but I certainly agree that his matchup with Starbury will be very important. With as tight as that race is at the top of the East, I am not certain how much we can count on anyone resting starters for us (Boston or Orlando for that matter). That said, lord knows we played better against the C's "A" squad than "B" squad last year.

I might see if I can work something out for that 4/3 outing v. Miami. That's really cool of you to coordinate that.

No way Orlando is playing for that much on the last night of the regular season, at least Howard won't play.

I would expect to see a good fight between Rondo/Marbury and DJ/Ray when we play Boston, but I think they are going to be deeper than us and we're going to be tired from playing our asses off all this time. But it will still be good, and we can still win, just like any given night.

If we could steal one against the Spurs or the Rockets it would be HUGE for us. Absolutely. It's not that I'm trying to not set myself up for disappointment, but the Spurs are the Spurs after all and it's in SA, so lots of things have to go right for a win down there, but the last thing we need to do is follow an historic win streak with consecutive losses. Since T-Bag is out, the Rockets are consequently a much better team, so that one won't be easy either, but I think a legit playoff team can/should find a way to do it. We'll see....

God, I salivate looking at the last 8 of the next 10 games, but I just have to calm down and take it a game at a time. But seriously, we owe the Raptors a pair of severe thrashings they way they've owned us of late.

Was just reading the writeup for tomorrows game and found a bit of it very informative.

--the Bobcats have since become the East's hottest team

Charlotte's surge has been due in large part to excellent shooting. The Bobcats are averaging 51.3 percent from the field and 47.6 percent from 3-point range during the winning streak.

When they hosted the Spurs (42-20) on Jan. 19. Bell had a game-high 25 points, but Charlotte shot 36.3 percent and lost 86-84 after leading by five going into the final quarter.

Ginobli played that game, and will not play tonight!

Parker was 3-for-11 for 13 points in the Spurs' January visit to Charlotte, but he did have 10 assists, typically a good sign for Popovich's team. San Antonio is 16-2 when Parker has at least eight assists.

The Bobcats' lone victory against the Spurs in nine tries came at San Antonio on Nov. 15, 2006 - a 95-92 overtime win despite Duncan and Parker combining for 49 points.
==============

So in short I know you guys can go and read it just as I did, I just highlighted the good facts. We are shooting a lot better than we did in jan, and we still led by 5 going into the 4th, with Ginobli in the lineup. And we have beat the spurs at home before. And we have a deeper team now than we did then.

I think THE EAST's HOTTEST TEAM will make it 7 in a Row.

Jazz will beat the Pacers
Bucks vs Knicks is a scary one, the Bucks lose we gain a game, but at the same time the Knicks stay on our asses.

As long as we get the win we keep a step ahead of them,

Lets go Cats

You're forgiven. The loss last night was not a shock. Gotta take care of home on Friday. I know we can. Oak needs to find a way to handle (in some fashion) Yao, and the Wallace/Artest match-up will be fun to watch.

The Nets really need to go ahead and start losing so that we can go ahead and stop mentioning them.

Actually, NY is playing Detroit. NY is 2 games behind us, but Detroit is 3 ahead. So I guess we come out OK if either wins. Get closer to Detroit or put more space between us and NY. I think, if we are being ambitious, we probably want NY to beat Detroit.

OMG, that would be back to back games I have to pull for the NY Knicks. I think I just vomited in my mouth.

Chicago lost! and the Knicks are losing. It's better if the Knicks lose because the Pistons are going to make the playoffs regardless. They are starting to play better and I see them turning it on the last couple of games this year. We are now 1/2 game out and hopefully NJ will lose later (and we actually go ahead of them in the standings) or if they win we will be 1 game back again.

And the Heat, 76ers, and Hawks are so far ahead of us we don't even need to worry about them. The Pistons are in reach but I don't see any of the teams battling for 8th to pass the Pistons.

I agree our best chance to get to the second round is through Boston and Miami.

I think as I said before we get Boston in the first, gain national attention for knocking out the defending champs in the 1st round, and where I differ i think we would beat orlando. :) in 7

I hear what you're saying about Detroit, and I know the Knicks are on our butts. But I'm not ready to write off 6th yet. With Detroit losing, we are 4.5 out of 6th to them, 4 out of 7th to Philly (who won) and we are right there with whoever holds 8th tonight. It changes daily. But I think in a few days, Charlotte will be in 8th. And I bet we will be only 2-3 behind 7th and 8th a few games after that. With the favorable schedule we have following Houston's game, it would not shock me if we were within 1 game of 6th place with 10 games to go. Dont give up 6th place just yet.

I want to win: Philly - (want Toronto) - (tough game BOBCATS) - Atlanta - (want Minnesota) - Hornets - Portland.

That's awesome to hear! I hope they own on Friday. A friend of mine is letting me and the lady have tickets to his company's box for the game. I'm psyched, to say the least.

Also, I'm hoping the Celtics win their game vs. the Grizz on Friday. I know we can hit that 8th spot, and I think we can make 7th, but that's a good ways off at the moment. Don't really care which way it walls (7 vs. 8), but the bottom line is I want Boston in round one.

Well looking at the remaining schedule we could literally go .500 for the rest of the stretch and make it comfortably.

All of the charlotte credit givers now ( espn, nba.com etc) claim we have the best looking schedule as a lot of our games are against sub 500 teams.

I do not know who out of NJ, MIL and Chicago has the worst schedule but the likelihood of them dropping a few games more than us makes our chances even better.

I just bought an Okafor jersey today for $20. If anyone has ever wanted a Bobcats jersey, Foot Locker in Concord Mills is having an awesome $20 sale on jerseys. I wanted Felton or Wallace, but being a larger guy, Okafor was the only thing they had in my size, lol.

But I digress, this game tonight is huge! If I didn't agree to work these extra hours, I would be there raising the roof for sure. But, I'm hoping for a sellout and a rowdy crowd for the Rockets, who for some reason I just don't like, I don't know why though. I'm like everyone else too, I want Boston just because I think in 1992 or 1993 a Charlotte team made the playoffs, playing an iconic Boston Celtics team that no one gave them a chance to beat, and I believe the four short games later the Charlotte Hornets were deemed the new up and coming team of the 90's. Of course, we know how that ended, but anyways, the parallels are there, lol.

Actually saw a Hornets Playbook edition of when they made the playoffs that year on WFNZ.com with Jim Celania hosting. Talk about another day and time.....lol

For the score board watchers,

Tonight’s matchups between the 8 - 11 seeds, only the Bulls are playing a team that is not already at 40+ wins, but they are playing Philly. Do we root against the 7th seed in hopes of getting that spot in the future or do we root against the 9th seed so we can leap frog them now?

Bulls(9) @ Philly(7)

Well it sucks we come off a franchise high 6 wins and being the hottest team in the east to this 3 game slide. But we have to remember also other teams have to win for us to be out.

Tonight if NJ, MIL, Knicks lose it puts all 4 of us in a tie for 9th.

Tonight Tor beats Indy ( making them 28-40)
if Memphis upsets the Pistons they drop to 7th
Boston beats Bucks ( making them 30-39)
Miami beats Philly ( making them 32-32)
Cavs will def beat the knicks ( making them 28-38)
Can the clippers beat the nets ( making them 28-38 )

Would put us in tie for 1.5 back. With our next game against the raptors ( should be a win, with the Nets losing to denver)

Then on Tues,, we could be half a game out.. with Boston beating the Bulls. Would make several teams at that 8th-9th spot.

Then on weds if portland can knock off Indy, We will beat Sac, The game that sucks is the nets/knicks as both of them are on our asses, Orlando will beat the bucks, maybe the thunder can beat the bulls, rockets beat pistons and the suns beat philly
---
I guess what I am trying to say we just need to get 2 wins this week and the other clubs with us battling for 8th are facing tougher opponents. We should have 8th by Weds.

Then we just need to win a few more to build a cushion before we hit the road at the end. 8th is doable. March 31st and April1st is the bastard dates. We play Lakers and Boston back to Back then Miami on the 3d,, ending the season with Orlando. And a lot of must wins against the bulls, knicks, philly etc. This is getting exciting as they all have a harder closing schedule than us ( in regards to over under .500 teams)

Come on, they just had a classic let down against an under estimated opponent...walked thru one.

It's the NBA, it happens to nearly every team now and then, and the Bobcats aren't exactly extraordinary. We're better than every team we're competing against for the eight seed, but otherwise still a pretty mediocre team. That's still a huge improvement over where we've been.

It's a process, and there's a lot left to do for this team to contend; whether we make the playoffs or not.

I am not on the ledge. I agree we have a chance,, but when we lose a game we should win and the other teams that should lose pull out a win,, widens that gap. If you look on page 43 I was ecstatic, and said we could hold our own and let others team lose and we could be in the 8th seed by weds. But the a few upsets today. Which improves their position ahead of us.

Chris Webber thinks we will get the 8th,, Chuck thinks the Bulls, and Kenny said the Nets. But He also said it was going to come down against series record. As he thinks several teams will be in their at the same record.

No, but we HAVE to win the ones we are meant to and the ones that we are in.

It's not like we are a 45+ win team right now and can afford to slip on a game like the Wolves one or not close on the Rockets one.

We can't afford to relax at all. It would be great to be able to, but we don't have that luxury.

Like I said in a earlier post, these are the times that separate the men from the boys, everyone is responcible for doing their part in order to win these games... So far its not happening. Felts and the rest have to hit their shots and they have to play great defense... They have to hit their free throws and they ALL have to stop with the @#!$*&^ turn overs and terrible passing.... Well we knew it was going to be a long shot to beat the Spurs in their house. Rockets was a coin flip. But the Bucks we should have beat, by us losing games we should have won and others winning games they shouldnt it makes the chase for the 8th even more tough. I still think we could be in the 8th by weeks end, but we have to beat Toronto and Sacramento weds, and Toronto again Friday and then Indy. That would be 4 wins for us with our 3 way tie right now for 10th. 1.5 games out.

If we can win the 4 games we should win this week and then take the below into consideration we could be in the 8th at ( 32-38)

Nets ( 28-38 ) Play Denver and Miami and Knicks ( 1-2) 29-40 at weeks end
Bulls ( 30-37 ) Play Boston, Thunder and Lakers ( 1-2 ) 31-39 at weeks end
Detroit ( 33-32 ) Play Dallas, Rockets, Clips and Miami ( 2-2) 35-34 at weeks end
Philly ( 33-31 ) Play Lakers , Suns, Sac ( 1-2) 34-33 at weeks end
Indy ( 28-40 ) Play Blazers, Mavs, Cats ( 0-3 ) 28-43 at weeks end
Knicks (28-38 ) Play Nets, Sac, Orlando and Cavs ( 1-3) 29-41 at weeks end
Bucks ( 31-38 ) Play orlando, blazers, (0-2 ) 31-40 at weeks end

If that plays out we will be solo for the 8th

A three game losing streak right now doesn't rule this team out but it doesn't put as much pressure on the teams ahead of us. We need to play everygame now like it's the NCAA championship...one and done....Now i have to say i have a beef with LB and him not using his bench. I know the bench is stronger then it was but still a little shanky. DJ for one hasn't been looking to score lately. It was good to see him get 18 in the last game but he needs to do that more. Radamir, Well , He's better then Morrison and I'll leave it at that. But other then them... who else add's anything other then Diop but thats one end of the court.

Red stars are teams we are with in 4 games of...

I have us losing to any team in the top 5 of either conference, winning to any team in the bottom of the west, so teams we SHOULD win or loose to. The only X factor is how we play against the teams we are with in 4 games of, in the east

Best case is 40-42, but figuring some tough losses to Detroit and Philly… 37 – 45 is my prediction

I posted that on 3-3-09, it seams to be holding up so far 1 odd win vs 1 odd loss, but i have 3 L's that I think are the true SWING games, 2 to the 76rs and 1 to the Pistons. if we win 2 of thoes 3 I think we tie the 8th spot with the Bulls... and we allready have the tiebreaker.

Yea we will be in a tie with Chicago tomorrow night for the 8th.

Then the bulls play the wizards and detroit back to back. then Miami on thursday, then Indy then toronto

We play Washington and Philly and NY through Sunday.

So they may go 2-3 or 3-2, while we could only at best go 3-0, or 2-1, so our 3 games to their 5

Gonna be awesome , as long as " like i said earlier" we have to get the bench involved more or down the stretch our 8 man rotation will get burnt the hell out. even if we can just get them 5 mins or so a half or rest. Worries me.

That was honestly the worst half of basketball i have ever seen an NBA team play in 20 years of watching it.

I would not have believed it if i was not there in person it was absolutely pathetic, i am not even going to write more as i ma just too pissed off. I refused to boo the team when the crowd started to at the arena but they did deserve it.

The only person who truly played like he cared was Juwan Howard. I know he is old but the guy plays his heart out and gave us solid production in january, he should be in the rotation, the guy still has it. He was the only bright spot for my wife and I tonight, felton played like Sh!t but at least he hustled too. The rest of the team was asleep

I hate to say this as i spend thousands of dollars on this team and want to experience playoff games but we honestly dont deserve it. We went from a bad team to a mid pack team but we are still just simply too inconsistent. The vast majority of our recent wins are all lottery team wins and we just are not ready yet

Also WTF is wrong with Raja, if he is that hurt that he cant hit a damn shot night after night then let him heal

I never was privileged enough to see a FHB game but this was REALLY bad

Diaw had a good Q1 but then was MIA

No way you can start Martin over Bell, but if Bell's shot is off (which it has been for 2 weeks now) then perhaps more DJ / Felton playing 1/2

I dont know i am too tired now to think, it was just a absolutely terrible game. I think the worst part is knowing we are really still mediocre but wanting us and kidding myself into thinking we are more than that

Larry does play the system where those who deserve it get playing time, but that said that starting lineup is 19-14 (before the game the radio guy said it was 19-13), so bad games happen, people lose focus, but you cannot deny the fact that this line works. On that note, I'd love to see them go deeper into the bench, and if a starter is off isn't that one purpose of the bench, so you can let them sit it out. Cartier has been a very good (not great) player since coming here, and I'm sure he'll get the nod to come to training camp. I think that is also partially the purpose of Dontell Jefferson, get them prepped up for training camp by working with the team, I'm sure he'll see at least 1 game before his new 10 day is up. May is just wow...Couldn't play, then too unconditioned (ill stay away from "fat"), played unconditioned and slow, worked his ass off harder than the rest of the team to get conditioned, now plays cleanup minutes and A. is happy to play, and B. is playing DAMN well. I think if Wallace or Diaw (god forbid) were injured that May might get the start over Vladi, if not take vladi's minutes and move Vladi into the injured player's minutes.

We're getting deep, and that's never bad. We just need 2 more pieces I think to be a 50+ wins, 2nd possibly 3rd round team, and that would be a bit better center (although Mek is improving farther away from the rim), and an awesome SG, like J-Rich with better defense who doesnt need 30 attempts to have a good game, but definately an above the rim player who can put up 20/5/5, I don't think anyone that good is available this draft so maybe another trade?

davcbow
03-22-2009, 11:18 AM
Could be time for May to play more minutes.... in 5.5 minutes he was 3/3, 1/1 from the 3, 2 rb's, 1 block and 7 points.... I know he was fresh at the end of the game while the rest were tired but hell it is what it is....

I understand the anger, But we can't have the world of bobcats land change over night. since this franchise started we've been at the bottom. Thanks to ATL, not the worst, but bottom dwellers still. LB in his 1st year has this team sniffing at the playoffs. We are still not the best team and the bench is lacking some nights. Mainly on back to back games. But you have to agree they are more fun to watch and generally a better team period. Thankfully, the bucks & bulls lost so we didn't lose ground. A win last night would have put us right in the 8th spot. It's not over yet and this team has a reasonable chance of making the playoffs this year.

Couldn't have putt it better. We're still just as close, just one less game to play. EVERY team has bad nights here and there, that's why the lakers and Cavs don't have 82 wins at the end of a season. And 100% the guys don't play (100%) for the money. Look at Cartier, he just wants to play in the NBA period, and Juwan, 16 years now taking a minimum salary and as I posted before happy to come back again. We may or may not make the playoffs this year, but next year I think we'll have home court advantage, and we'll hit 40 wins before we hit 25 losses.

Well my opinion is I am not pissed over the loss so much as the WTF Happens if" of the cats. I agree LB has came in and really worked some magic with the team. I mean a lot of positives so far,, we pull off a 6 game W streak, lose 3 then Win 3. But i said it before and nobody here has really addressed it... LB is rolling night in and night out with a tight 8 man rotation. This doesn't bode well for us in the playoffs ( hell not even in the reg season). We aren't giving our guys enough rest. We have to go deeper into the bench. Cartier can hustle for a few mins to give a team mate some rest, as well as howard and the way may is playing he could easily free up a couple mins a qtr for the starters.

it just concerns me that running a tight rotation like this is not good for 2 reasons. 1 being starters on the court that many minutes get ran down, and the 2nd night of a back to back or even a west coast away to a home game 37 hours later on the east is tough on anyone. 2) is what if one of our starters get injured in the playoffs ( knock on wood). With this tight rotation our other guys are getting rusty

I agree with spectre, teej and a few of the others that have noticed it, if our starters are 0-12 from the field or 2 points on 1-8 shooting and 4 to's , bench their asses for a few minutes and give the bench players time to change the game or atleast try.

We got to get more active people in the rotation or theres no way in hell we can compete at 100% in a 7 game series. I think we will make the 7th or 8th seed. We know a few games we may lose, but I think if the guys see they are this close to the playoffs regardless of who the opponent is they will give that extra 20%. We need LB to go coach pop style, squeeze some rest in for the starters. If we are up by 15 pts 3-5 mins before the half, pull a few of the starters and let them get that extra 5mins rest. If the team starts to lose the lead , put a starter or two back in.

Our bench is worthless not being used and the starters are getting worn out.. We beat Toronto the next night lose to Indy.. next we have @Wash.. off a day then back to back @ philly, vs knicks. philly game somehow need a few mins of rest for the starters. 2mins here 2 mins there.

.... people who boo at a home team piss me off.

It pissed me off too...guys just didn't deserve that after the week they'd had.

And yeah, that Diop DRIVE and dunk was awesome! I was worried when he had to put it on the floor but the big guy made it!
