I found a strange little blog this morning with links and stuff from a guy named Tom Ziller. http://nba.fanhouse.com/2008/12/27/adventures-in-the-bobcats-draft-war-room/
I didn't know about the KG thing. Do other front offices and possibly several agents (Obviously BJ Armstrong, who knew he was an agent?) hate the Bobcats front office? Do these guys really not know what they're doing?
Why is Mr. Ziller bringing this up right now? Completely off the wall but I wanted to see what you guys thought. Am I ignorant or am I justified to be suprised?

why is it the bobcats responsibility to find out who the twolves wanted? you'd think mchale and mullin would have made sure the bobcats knew to draft thornton (if that is actually the case). that's on them, not us.
I've got first hand knowledge of how Bernie Bickerstaff's incompetence let a sure-fire deal for Jameer Nelson wither on our inaugural draft day.
We all know the story of passing on the trade to acquire the pick to draft Chris Paul in exchange for our two first rounders that season.
This comes as no surprise. Just about every single draft we've been a part of has some sort of story eluding to the fact that these folks don't know what they are doing.

I don't remember that...can you give us more?

I think the KG story says more about Mullin's incompetence than our own. If, I'm about to get KG, I make sure I know who Minny wants and that Cha gets them. Hell, I'm on a 3-way call with Minny and Cha while the Cats are on the clock getting on everybody's nerves like "hey Bernie, you know to get Thornton right? Al Thornton from FSU, you know that right, the 24 yr old senior, that's the guy they want"

Yup that's about the size of it...I'd probably have sent a representative to Minn and Charlotte to stand there and make sure the stuff went as planned.

Not at all really. Imagine the shake-up that would have caused though. That's like Back to the Future make out with your mom time travel stuff. Imagine Boston without KG...Imagine this off season with KG in GS....Imagine it!
My point is, the dude is obviously trying to poke fun at the Bobcats, but it's not draft time, this article has no context right now whatsoever. It just doesn't really make sense. I love that #8 pick = Brandan Wright = Season and a bit with J-Rich and Dudley = Diaw, Bell and Singletary. Am I missing something in the timeline there?

This article MIGHT would've been worth the piece of corn in my turd if it would've revealed that WE had a chance to land KG, or Jrich plus Monta Ellis or Beidrins... Other than that, it's not saying much.

Nope, I'd gladly trade Wright for Bell, Diaw, and Singletary

Just a piece of the corn, not a whole kernel? Seriously, other than if you grind it up before using it (cornmeal=cornbread, mama's stewed/creamed corn, ethanol/everclear) is whole kernel corn the most useless food on the planet? Any food that shows up whole in my stool must be utterly un-usable by my body.
It wasn't an article, it wasn't really published, it's a blog by a guy I've never heard of. I just thought it was weird and sore of interesting that we'd be the unknown salary dump for a trade involving KG.

lol, good analysis of the corn/turd debacle. I was going to say kernel, but I wasn't sure if kernel was still applicable after it has made a trip through the digestive tract.
I wasn't knocking you for posting it though... I was just saying the "article" or whatever crap this guy is trying to pass off as a legitimate piece of journalism was a moot point as far as the Bobcats are concerned.

Corn just makes me mad really. I don't like it. I didn't take it either way about me posting it, but I appreciate the clairification.
I'm so starved for Bobcats news, I search everyday and don't find much good but this was interesting and a bunch of garbage all at the same time.

Google is amazing
any answers on the surefire deal for Nelson?
and as far as the article it wouldnt be surprising since bickerstaff and mj are bad FO ppl
Sorry, I couldn't remember which thread this was in.
When I worked for the Hornets in 2001, my boss was Bo Hussey. I remained in touch with Bo after I left the hornets; we'd talk about the team, families, etc.
When the Bobcats came to town, Bo obtained the same position with them that he had with the Hornets. He left a couple of years ago.
I've lost some of the details over time, but the gist of it is that when Bernie Bickerstaff got into the car with Bo, they had a trade worked out to jump to 21 with Houston and get Nelson before Orlando could nab him. While in the car, they heard on the radio that Orlando had traded up and gotten Nelson. Bickerstaff hit the dashboard with his fists.
He had called several teams; Denver, Portland and Houston (at least), and wouldn't pay the price Denver or Portland wanted -- settling with the lower offer from Houston.
If you recall, Bickerstaff was infatuated with Nelson. The deal was predicated on Nelson being there at 21. If he wasn't, Bickerstaff wouldn't do the deal. That is why they didn't trade for the pick beforehand.
Had Bickerstaff been more diligent or more willing to deal, this team would have had Nelson.
We also could have had Antawn Jamison, but that's another story.
