Seriously guys, are we going to let that little 4'11" dwarf Nate Robinson go off on us again? It can't happen again... Right?
What are your thoughts on tonight's game?
No little people were harmed in the making of this game thread

I hope we hand the Knicks their 7th straight loss and break our own streak of 4 straight losses to them tonight. I heard something about a pre-game party for the "Bud Light Party Zone/Rock the Rooftop" area? Does anyone know anything about it? I'll be there in my huge black and grey argyle sweater and shiny new Bobcats hat that I got from the office draw names BS we did for Christmas this year. Actually could we change it from Pre-game party to "Meet and Greet with BIGCat?"

The Cats have play'd better over all since the trade, Unless there's a Jamal Crawford type of night were someone on there team can't miss the Cats should come away with a win tonight.

I feel bad for Morrison, He seemed scared to shoot after those 1st two misses. He still play'd hard and made a good pass to Diaw. Lil Sean play'd great out there. He did turn the ball over twice but his pressure on the defensive end was refreshing. BTW Sean May's career is over and Ryan hollins has been reborn.

That hurts! Carroll can cut the lead from 7 to 4 with a wide open 3 - and he walks. Duhon comes down and drains a bomb, and we are back 10. That signifies our season right there. Something has to change for the better at some point - right?

Wasting timeouts again. We did the same thing toward the end of the game against the Nets. Overall aside from the really bad finish by Felts the whole team blew some easy opportunities.
Before we get too mad at Raymond the referees could easily have called a foul on that last play Raymond drove to the Net. It is one of those plays where people were guarded and Raymond had an opening and took it. It cost us the game but I feel it could have easily been a turnover as well.

Why in the last minute does Ray feel the need to be the only one to shoot? We were right back in it, and he starts throwing up junk. Guess playing smart ball goes out the window when Ray has his hands on the ball.

I'm at a loss for words after this one. Just when you think we are making a push a nasty loss like this one. We were not ready from the jump ball. Its so frustrating, horrible shooting from Ray, Diaw was feast or famine, bench gave us nothing (I don't consider DJ a part of the bench). This is a lost cause...
The two most crucial possessions in the game
1) Felton dribbles down to 8 seconds, ends up throwing up a crazy 3 as the shot clock expires
2) Felton drives and doesn't even get a shot off, loses the ball
I swear, Felton plays very well inside the system and facilitates the offense for most of the game, but at the end of the game he thinks hes freakin' Michael Jordan. He tries to put it all on his shoulders and be the hero.

I was so mad at Diaw on one of the last plays, he tried to drive the lane and kicked it out to Ray w/ 2 seconds on the clock. I would rather see Diaw take a contested shot just outside the paint than Ray take a rushed 3 (or take a shot period tonight considering how he shot the ball). I was pissed at that decision.

I wasn't really angry at Diaw on that play. It was Ray's fault (or possibly LB's) for dribbling down the shot clock like it was an end-of-game situation and leaving Diaw no time. Not sure the reasoning behind that. Sure Diaw could have shot it, but either way, he was put into a bad situation and neither option was a high-percentage play. But I do agree I'd rather have Diaw take the contested shot then Ray's rushed 3, although give credit to the Knicks, with the shot clock winding down Diaw expected them to over-rotate but they stayed in position and weren't caught off guard by the last second pass. Diaw took a chance and it didn't pay off.

Not all 6 TO's on Diaw were his fault either. Still, we just find ways to lose games we should win. And it absolutely drives me up a wall when Ray just has to be the one to shoot the damn thing at the most crucial times. He just dribbles some clock off and then tries to be like MJ - and he cant. I do like Ray as a spot up shooter in the open. Many times you see him be the man who gets the kick out and he drains a shot. That is where he is at his best in shooting. But he suxs as a creator of his own shot, cause he cannot create his own shot.

This game highlighted what we need the most. We do not have anyone, I repeat anyone who can hit big shots. And on top of that we do not have anyone who has the respect around the league to get questionable calls down the stretch in games. When I see Ray or Crash drive to the hole at the end of games and never get a call when we desperately need it, I think about Wade, CP3, and (insert any all-star) wonder if the whistle would have been blown for them.
I think the only reason Ray has the ball at the end of games is he is the best player we have at beating his man. What he does after he beats his man is the mystery...

But he suxs as a creator of his own shot, cause he cannot create his own shot.I agree Ohara he really is not good at finishing around the rim but I did see that Felton did not see anybody open and nobody collapsed inside to stop his penetration. That left him to do what he is not good at doing and it hurt. The team still had another shot at tying the game and Felton had nothing to do with the failed attempt.
Felton actually scored on a drive inside after having failed so he just missed when our momentum could have carried us to victory. This team is learning with each failed attempt and once we get adequate point production and rebounds from our bench we won't have to depend on players like Felton to try and make big plays at the end. This team may have to struggle a while in order to see what our bench can give us. If the bench does not step up soon this season will only get longer and longer.
Since DJ's injury he is not quite himself yet. He had moments and if he gets it back together this team will at least improve on last seasons win total.
I am not to upset about Morrison missing a shot or two but I hate that once he does he almost refuses to shoot anymore even when his teammates want him to. AmMo's biggest weakness aside from being weak athletically is his mind set. He needs a shrink to work with him and get his mind positive and lead him to a more confident killer attitude.
The above statements are merely my opinions unless I state otherwise. ;)

I thought we should have won this one but I was worried. I was like it is a win on paper but at the same time it is a typical game Bobcats tend to lose and against a big market team which is playing against Charlotte Hor...uhm-nevermind so they would probably get the calls. The refs costing us games became a kinda pattern already. And getting Diaw in foul trouble by bad calls too.
And Nate should got a flagrant foul for how he took Crash down from air.

I TiVo'd the game and watching it is like pulling teeth... There are good parts and then its like "oh LAWD!".
Anyway, if only there were someone willing to take Felton (spotty play and horrible in the 4th qtr), Ammo (he deserves the change), Carroll (Cap/Contract), Nazr (all of the above), May (nuff said) and give us a veteran PG with 1-2 years left capable for 15-20 min/game always or 40 if we had an injury, give me a 2 guard capable of 15pt/3-4ast and some junk that larry might know how to use/develop.
Ammo, Matt, Hollins, and Lil Sean (Hollins and Lil Sean have hall passes on this with not having had any real playing time lately) combined for 8 points in 48 minutes and that has got to be worked on. All the other starters and DJ got good points in but the lack of depth is so blatent. I know someone is going to say matt and ammo havnt had minutes either, but i think theirs are more earning it issues rather than "we dont know where to find them" issues.
ohara831
12-30-2008, 10:18 PM
I stood by Ammo his entire Rookie year, and I really had hopes he would bounce back this year in a big way. He looked pretty good early on. But his confidence is completely shot right now. He shoots and if he misses his first couple shots, he has no confidence to shoot again. Reminds me of a boxer who starts off undefeated at 20 - 0. But once he gets knocked out and loses, he is never able to regain his swagger. So many times it happens, and only the special ones bounce back to become champions again. I just dont see Ammo bouncing back.

I think the only reason Ray has the ball at the end of games is he is the best player we have at beating his man. What he does after he beats his man is the mystery...Finally a civil and very correct post. Raymond seems to be the one who is running the show at the end. He is the pg and it is his job to decide if he has an open pass or he needs to try and get inside. If he could do like DJ and drive, put on the breaks and hit a short outside shot he would not get into trouble among the trees. Usually when he drives he is easily past the big men so all he has to do is shoot over the guard trying to cover him. Either he gets a foul or he gets the shot to drop.
What you said about our pg's not getting any respect seems to be true. In my opinion our guys can't keep getting inside and everybody only makes contact the ball. If Felton would show an ability to get separation from whoever guards him and he shoots instead of going too deep inside it would help some.
No matter how any of our starters perform, if we don't get some help off the bench it won't matter. We will see starters get fatigued and bench players giving away close games or leads. That will force Larry to go back to our starters who are exhausted.
The above statements are merely my opinions unless I say otherwise. ;)

We need depth and we need it soon because if it isnt Mek, GW, Diaz, Bell or DJ and sometimes Felts doing it it dont get done. Im sick of losing. Where was the defense tonight in the first quarter? missing layups, missing 3's out the ying yang, missing simple 2's. Shooting 3's with 10+ seconds left on the shot clock and missing. "PUT IT IN THE PAINT" boys, make them foul you... No respect from the refs at all... almost as if the refs were gonna make sure NY won no matter what... I saw several bad calls in my opinion and what sucks is if you say something to the refs you get a tech... Please God let us make a trade that we come out on the upper hand and helps us out a lot like this last trade... I'm tired of losing....

I find it hard to feel sorry for a guy like Adam who makes over 50k a game and if prorated for the "average" person who may work 40 hours a week, he would be equivalant to 2k and hour, seriously?!?!
Adam has game, but he was in a situation where he more or less had to step up and fit that role in college. He needs a new atmosphere, he is way too timid. He use to look like a hippie on crack with his unorthodox play but seems he is under some identity crisis right now.
i was at the game and diaw definately got screwed by the refs, but hey, its the 'cats.
morrison needs to be traded desperately, more even than mcmay, hes the type that would commit suicide in all seriousness....cuz what does he have to live for? getting booed every night for not playing, playing too much, not takin a shot, takin too many shots, and then what? hes like the president, he cant do anything right!
