View Full Version : MJ at the game
First off, i know that MJ said the reason he doesnt want to be in the public eye during the games is because people can see his reaction to the players etc, but I will still share my thoughts about last night.
He was visibly upset with Felton for most of the game. A couple plays he was really upset when Felton took terible shots and was talking with the players about it as well. With him having the final say on trades, i dont see Felton being with the team much longer. I know he has been on the trading block, but to see the guy who has the final say on trades this upset with only him does not show that he is the PG for this team. MJ was not visibly upset with the other players, only Felton. This is just my 2 cents.
On another note, it is great seeing MJ on the bench. He is always giving the guys high fives when they come out of the game just like he is on the team. He is always talking with them and also working the refs. He is a great influence to have on the bench, i just wish he was there more often. You can tell he is teaching them the game and players tendenacies. Also, he is always encouraging and positive with the players when they come out. Adam missed a couple shots and came out and MJ made it a point to give him some encouragement when he got to the bench.

I honestly feel MJ needs to sit in those seats EVERY game without fail...I don't even care if he wants paid some for it...He makes a difference in morale.
I also agree, just from TV coverage, MJ was downright PISSED at felton...and Larry putting his head in his hands didn't bode well either... I honestly think we should start DJ, let Felton be a backup PG behind Lil Sean, and do not under any but a 6 PF situation for both Sean and DJ put Mr. Choke in the 4th qtr...
See the trade thread regarding potential fan approved trades...of course bear in mind we need "Larry Approved" Trades :)

When MJ is there it seems as if the team plays better. I know i would if the best player ever was watching, but i think feltons time is winding down..... It was also cool to see Nelly at the game. The more celebs the better

I totally missed MJ making faces about Felton, But I only got to see half the game. The part i saw with MJ was at the end when he was laughing with Wallace and Bell.

It helped a lot on Friday night.

Screw that. Felton doesn't deserve to carry Lil Sean's jock. Felton's only job on this team should be to clean out the team bus and maybe, "maybe", carry some bags.
Feltons not so bad to be behind Sean, and from what I can tell DJ is not 100 percent
I definitely believe DJ should start when healthy, but remember, LB wants Ray to start

Its very clear we're showcasing Felton. I think Lil Sean has a BIG future here, something about the way he plays though tells me he is going to be moved off the 1 and be a killer combo guard coming him behind Bell once we clear the overpaid slack with our next trade. Oh did I mention him and Wallace are the only 2 players that can keep up with DJ on a fast break from a steal near the jump circle...yeah thought i might have :)

Heh, haven't you noticed that reality has NOTHING to do with this thread? :p
the thread was about mjs displeasure with raymond...and i said ray wasnt much worse than dj
not sure how it has nothing to do, just not much
on a different note, Nelly has a sweet car

It's not a secret Larry came here because of MJ, so if MJ wants to succeed here in Charlotte (vis a vis, have this team sculpted and groomed by Larry), he'll have to show up at games and hang around with the players, or Larry'll get upset, and then...
I think MJ has also realized that he needs to be more hands on, and hey, he needs the money now! haha
My issue is that Jordan wants a return for his money and he could directly influence that by being at the games more and part of the team. He could teach these guys a ton.
I was at the T-Wolves game and this annoying guy was yelling at the refs and giving them a hard time because calls were going the Cats way. I turn around and it is Kevin McHale. Man, i was really impressed. His team is sorry and he flew with them down to Charlotte and was passionately cheering for them and talking to the refs about missed calls etc. You would have thought he was playing the game himself. I was really jealous when I saw him. I wish MJ had that same passion for the Cats. Maybe he does and just doesnt show it?? Who knows, but you can always tell a difference when he is sitting on the bench with the team.

Wow, you sat IN FRONT of Kevin McHale? Think I could get a seat with you:D
MJ is more of a reserved guy than McHale, McHal is more like Cuban, MJ is a quiet leader, he just uses his prescence the way he needs to.
Maybe also he didnt get along with FHB? As a reason for why he was almost never there last yr?

MJ just being present at games would increase attendance. His image alone is powerful enough to bring people in. I don't see how he doesn't realize that
he sees it, bu he doesnt want the team to be about MJ, he wants to sell an actual product
but maybe some more of the celebs like him and Nelly joining in on TEAM ads would be good
half the fun at a lakers game is which actors are in your section, but I dont think thats how MJ wants to be remembered

MJ has gotten alot of flack for some of his draft choices. As stated in another post I think I'll trust LB in the draft more then Jordan...since everyone Jordan has drafted has been a bust. LB made a great choice with DJ and we'll have to see about Frenchy.
Other then that Jordan is basically the mascot of this team. Notice he's a FO person but he sits on the bench or right behind the bench. He can pass on any info he might have or just the players seeing him should give a boost to this team. I watch the games from home and i get hyped when i see Jordan...Jordan in my mind equals champ...I like having that role model around this team.

He's a laughing stock on these boards, it's not like he is suiting up and actually playing.
I seriously doubt that him attending games would put more bums in seats. The only thing that is going to that are W's.

"LB made a great choice with DJ and we'll have to see about Frenchy"..I saw Frenchy at dinner 2nite at Mickey&Mooch(stonecrest). It's good to see that he is eating haha, the guy needs to bulk up. He needs to get bigger, something that may doesnt need to do. He is still a young player tough, so I am not too hard on him like others. I think i a few years he will be a solid contributer. He length and size is unbelievable. If you remember kevin garnett was about the same size(skinny) as Ajinca is now..im not comparing the skill level to garnett necessarily but who knows, the skies the limit!

Do you really not think people would go to games just to see him? There ARE fans outside of these boards, believe it or not;)
MJ is still MJ. People want to see the greatest NBA player of all time.
speaking of showcasing raymond...the warriors started both b.wright and bellinelli tonight. both played for just over 16 minutes, as of this writing it is in the 3rd quarter. if this is a sign of the talked about trade before christmas, i would feel much more comfortable if randolph started instead of wright.

AND this is North Carolina.
Even some non-UNC's fans cream for that guy around here.
I think what it would change most is the number of people who have their business' tickets for that night and are debating whether to actually attend the game. From the looks of the lower bowl on most nights, a lot of those people don't show up. However, if they're thinking, "Hey, maybe we'll be sitting near Jordan," then it may improve attendance. I think that more people attending off of company tickets would then lend itself to more people purchasing their own tickets.

People would actually go to the game to see mj. i know this for a fact, i always hear ppl say "Look is that MJ on the bench?" and then see people crowding the tunnel during the end of the games to get a picture of him. I agree if mj, as well as nelly, heck even bob johnson (ugh) were in an ad it would definitely get ppl's attention and create some interest. plus, even if mj doesnt want to be seen as "he is at the games" any publicity that doesn't revolve around the bobcats helps. i mean the radio clowns the team, i guess it doesnt matter until we win.....

MJ has been at about a dozen games this season already. Is our attendence any better now than it was last season?
The ONLY thing that will fill the seats is wins.
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

Ads? I would love an ad starring Bobcats players rubbing MJ's head after made shots :) (props to Crash to do that it was awesome).

The ONLY thing that will fill the seats is wins. Just to put it out there, MJ was at the infamous Minnesota game that drew a whole, ANNOUNCED crowd of a little over 9K, but more like 5K. If they announced in the Observer that he would be at a game, it might make a difference, but I tend to side with Slam on this one; it's about winning, and if MJ happens to be at games then, that'll make it all the better.

actually i mentioned several times at the game that KG was bigger than i expected. Ive seen him play before but never this close. Maybe it was the fact that i had the mental picture of the stick figure picture of him above, but he is a pretty huge dude. Skinny and lean, but really kind of wide shouldered and very strong looking. Oh and he whines non freakin stop.
and on topic... MJ has virtually no effect on the crowd at large and the only thing that will change that is wins. but you really can't argue that he has an effect on the team when he is out there. First of all hes practically an assistant coach to Ray Crash and Ammo, and just his presence down there is crazy. He also took part in some jokes on Big Baby. Big Baby spent about 30 seconds of every free throw staring at MJ in awe... like i cant believe that guy is smack talking me!
