Several sources with knowledge of the situation have told TKB that thePortland Trailblazers are getting serious about trading for David Lee.
Blazers ownership thinks Lee is the perfect 6th man, who will be 26 in April and can be part of their long term plans. As we know Lee has leverage because he doesn’t have to sign with a team he is traded to, but playing in Portland with their young core would be very attractive.
The question now becomes what do the Blazers give up in order to match what the Knicks need.
The Knicks may be interested in Jerryd Bayless, who has fallen behind Sergio Rodriguez on their depth chart, and whom the team passed on in this year’s draft or Rodriguez , but the combination of either and a first round pick won’t be enough to entice Walsh. This is where a third team may get involved
This doesn't make much sense to me for Portland. Why do they need another big man? Could this be a possible 3 team trade involving the Bobcats??

i doubt its a 3 team trade.

Yeah, I don't see us doing another major trade this season. Maybe something to get us more solidified at the 2, but we really only need a more defensive-minded back-up. They don't grow on trees, but maybe we could get one for May and Morrison. I dunno. Maybe the team should just play well.

We need depth at 2 and 3...I think we're okay at 4 and 5, not 2nd round deep there, but certainly capable...We have an expiring in May that I forsee us moving to a team that doesnt care about what they get as long as its expiring...
That said I do think that portland's desire for Felton and Lee would make for a good 3 way deal somehow...as long as we dont get much garbage from NY...but again a good situation we could move may (NY would like the expiring and who knows maybe dantoni would get him running harder and keep him out of the mcdonalds...

If we could somehow get Bayless from Portland, I'd be very happy. I know he has fallen to 3rd on their depth charts, but the kid was exceptional in college and I know he has much more potential. I dont see his game anything like Ammo's so I dont believe he has bust potential. He's just in a rut in Portland with no chance to get out. I think if LB got his hands on him and had him back up Bell and get 15-20 minutes/game, his game would come alive.

If we could somehow swap Carroll with his contract with Outlaw in the process (doubt Blazers would need Nazr with Joel on roster) it would be interesting. Blazers also hold rights to many unsigned players I'm not familiar with (except Koponen - I'm not a fan really but he is higher than 6 feet PG and maybe he has developed from last time I saw him play.

I'd be amenable to getting involved as the 3rd team as long as Curry isn't coming our way.

You don't even know...
I had the biggest hard on for him in the draft and was pissed when he wasn't selected. Some people may remember that:hypo:
Needless to say, I'm very happy with taking DJ. Bayless hasn't exactly performed that well this year

What's everybody think of this:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=3194~1717~2772~2754~2795~2211~ 2753~2776~3016&teams=30~30~22~30~30~22~18~18~18&te=&cash=
The Knicks are high on Chandler and believe he is part of their future, but maybe with us taking on Jeffries contract and giving them what could be considered all expirings they would part with him.
It could definitely be tinkered with from Portland's end on exactly what would come our way.

Just bringing this over from the trade ideas thread
How about something along the lines of: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=1717~2772~3417~3204~2754~2015~ 2992~2753~2776~3016&teams=30~22~18~30~30~30~18~22~22~18&te=&cash= (http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=1717%7E2772%7E3417%7E3204%7E27 54%7E2015%7E2992%7E2753%7E2776%7E3016&teams=30%7E22%7E18%7E30%7E30%7E30%7E18%7E22%7E22%7 E18&te=&cash=)
Now I'm not very creative with the trade machine but I think that's a pretty fair deal across the board.
Portland gets a PG and David Lee who they seem to want. They do lose some of their younger pieces but none of them are heavy rotation guys outside of Rudy, but that's what they have to give up to get a starter.
New York gets rid of Jared Jeffries' contract and bring in some young guys with expiring contracts if they don't work out.
We get rid of Tubby and Morrison, effectively beginning a new era in Bobcats Basketball. We get some depth at the 3 and 4 and bring in a scorer in Rudy to be our 6th man.
Wadd'a'ya think guys?

I just don't think NY give up all that scoring for just expirings, they have enough room to offer 2 max contracts right now, I doubt they trade much more away....I could see David Lee being traded, but not Wilson Chandler...
