Wife and I moved to Lake Norman about a year ago. I played Basketball thru High School and College and a few weeks ago we went to see the Bobcats and Pistons play as i fell into tickets. Had a good time so went to a 2nd game, then a 3rd and now have the Weekend Season Ticket Package as it grew on me quick so i bought them and am going to the celt's game tomorrow too.
Can't say the team is easy to root for being a newbie to the area and with the team always struggling and attendance very poor but i am putting my best effort into it. We have a good time, it is relatively cheap entertainment and it is easy to get in and out of the arena and parking is a breeze. We have our first baby on the way in April and I figured this is something I can get my son interesting in doing with Dad when he gets here.
Anyway just wanted to introduce myself as i have been lurking here for about a week now, i plan on becoming a active supporter moving forward.

Welcome Robert!
If you'd watched the team two years ago, I think you'd see how easy it was to root for this team. They weren't good, but they had hustle enough to make it lots of fun. I think there's still some of that there, but obviously everyone wants them to win.
Hopefully they beat the Celts tomorrow. I'll be making it to the game myself. Enjoy!

First off, Welcome to Bobcatsplanet, and welcome to the family! The Bobcats are a young team and are going through tough times, so yes at times they are hard to cheer for. But glad to see you joining the Bobcats family and we hope your child growing up will become a big Bobcats fan as well...
But once again Welcome.

Welcome! Yes, the Bobcats are hard to root for but we tend to use the phrase ILBIT around here. (In Larry Brown I Trust)
If you are any fan of basketball prior to now you know why, if not, just look him up on Wikipedia
Welcome again, we're glad you're here!

Seeing a bobcats fan, let alone a new fan never gets old. I've converted most of my friends into being bobcats fans, they still will hate sometimes but its getting there. I think if the team would win, more good fans come.

I have noticed we can upgrade ourselves each game the place is so empty, so one seems to say anything and i have yet to have the misfortune of someone with their real seats telling me i am in them. At the very least you can sit in the first few rows of the upper deck, midcourt everytime
call your doc and get an advance prescription for blood pressure med of choice to take one week prior to draft day in june.

I was referring to Fred Whitfield's hired people who are sometimes upstairs giving people upgrades. I've gone from row L in 200s to 113 L and another game (Nets) I went from 201 F to 104 A5 (backcourt club and all). 1 body between me and the scorekeeper people ;) very wicked...

Hello all.
Don't want to create a new topic to introduce me, so I use this (I hope it's the right thing to do).
First, I'm sorry if my english is bad, I hope you will understand me.
So, I'm from France, I'm a NBA fan since january 2008. Here, in Europe, soccer is the most popular sport (I'm a player and fan of soccer, Olympique de Marseille fan if you know..) but I find US Basket-Ball (and US Sports in general) more intresting, more spectacular.
At the beginning, I was a big fan of Chris Paul. I think this player is the most creative player in the world. I'm still fan of him but little less of New Orleans. This season I watched games especially for the great show of this competition.
But, with a little chauvinism, I looked for the results and performances of french players. Diaw was my favourite but he didn't have enough minutes at Phoenix.
When I saw that he was going to Charlotte I was happy for him, because he can help this team to progress and he'll have more time to show what he can do.
The problem was that french medias stopped diffusion of NBA each night, so no way to watch Boris performances. I decided to take International League Pass for one night, then I discovered the whole Bobcats team and I was immediately seduced! Maybe this is not the most talented team in the NBA but his style pleased me. I was fan of Diaw I became fan of Charlotte Bobcats. So i took one month of league pass to see all matches ^^.
So I came in this forum and read your topics since Boris joined the team to see what Bobcats fans think about him. After, it was for interest me of the life of this team. All you say (even if I can't all understand ) is interesting and share about cats is great. So today i wanted to register and introduce me, so I can now answer and give my opinion about the games or players.
I'm not a expert of basket-ball game and I hope I'll can learn more with your help.
Other thing, I like every player in this team. I'm obviously proud when Boris makes big games (^^) but I like so much other players, especially Felton, Wallace, DJ, Raja Bell and Carroll.
I think Ajinça is a little bit young to play very well in NBA. What I heard in french medias about his early inscription in the 08 Draft is that he should have play one more year in France to be ready. But I think he is talented and he will progress with a great coach like LB.
Ok, what a long presentation, but it was hard for me to decide register here, because of the language and my nationality ^^. I read this post ten times before to post, I hope it's understandable enough.
Thanks for have read my introduction :).

arcandias, maybe you can start a new thread and enlighten us on ajinca. i don't know much about him and would like him to do better. but more than often, unfortunately, he seems lost. any input on his performance as a basketball player in france or what the french papers wrote about him? i'm very curious to see what larry brown saw in him to draft him (aside from size)

Thank you Big Slam. Nice to see that I can be understood ^^.
I don't really know Ajinça, the first time I saw him it's in the draft. I'm interested in NBA but european basket is not so spectacular, so I don't know so much about french players that are not in NBA. But the french reporters during the draft said that Batum (the other frenchie in the draft) was ready but Ajinça not.
But as his career shows, NBA was the next step for him. Young french competitions, young international competitions, then he was in french first division and french national team. Maybe the reporter said that because he is very slim. It's right, I still think he has to gain some weight, but in all biographies I saw, he seems to be ready for NBA competition. In mockdrafts some american experts saw all Alexis in the first round.
I saw that he have won 2 european competitions in young. He was European champion with french -16years team in 2004 and -18years in 2006. I think he have some good experience about the high european basket level.
Edit : Thanks Robertpel9

I saw that during the match there are not so much reactions here. Some of you go to the arena to watch the game live?
And I have a newbie question about posts in game ^^. Could you tell me which post correspond to 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5? I refer to french NBA Live posts but I understood Point Guard (Felton, DJ, Singletary), Power Forward (as Boris, Juwan Howard). I guess Center is for Emeka Okafor. But Gerald Wallace and Raja Bell (or Matt Carroll) in NBA Live 08 french version it's something like wing shooting player for GW and Defensive player for Raja.
What about the numbers? PG = ?.
Thank you for your answers!

1 - PG - Point guard

3 - SF - Small forward
4 - PF - Power forward (sometimes Diaw is called Point Forward for his passing ability but that's not real position it is more a tactic option)
5 - C - Center

Australia maybe counts for something. But, Canada?
That's just America's patio. Once we trade Maine for the city of Toronto, everything will be sorted out proper.
Besides, you have to have a military to be considered a country. And, frankly, three guys with bayonets riding moose-back don't count.

Thanks for have read my introduction :). Most excellent post, ArcandiaS! I've always thought non-Parisian French are among the most thoughtful and polite people in the world, and you seem to be just as nice as others I have met!
Welcome aboard, and please feel free to post anything that comes to your mind; questions, comments, etc. I tried to learn French when I began reading classic French literature (Balzac, the essays of Montaigne, for example), but could never get the hang of it, so great job with your application of the Enlgish language; very easy to understand!
A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to meet Boris and Alexis (Lexy as I call him) after a game and got their autographs. They are both great guys and do your country proud! You can read more about my experience in the thread titled "The 'French Connection' are good guys", or something along those lines.
If you can ever make it down to this area, you'll have a free ticket (or tickets) on me if you want them! And I'm sure we can set up a meeting for you with Boris and Lexy if you like.

TheBeagle, thanks to your gentle post, I'm really happy when you talk about non-parisian French, beacause I think that we are not that appreciated everywhere. And I agree about you're vision about parisans ^^. But you're right most of people here are good (not all but there are bad persons everywhere).
French is harder to learn for strangers than english. This is a very difficult language and I guess that's why lot of people don't want to speak french.
It's great you could meet Boris and Alexis, I'll read your thread to make a idea about them but I think Boris is particulary nice and available for fans. He seems to be a great guy.
About the tickets, it's very nice, you seem to be (like all others on this forum) very cool and it's very pleasant. And in february, for the first time in my life (like a dream) i'll come to States, in New York with French friends. I would like to go watch a game but I think I'll not have the chance to go out of New York, but I'll talk about it with my friend. Thank you very much for your suggestion.
Meet Boris is a great dream I have so I'll make the possible for that, thanks a lot.

Woow great that Valence is known out of France ^^. It's right we have great wine here, Cornas is a little town near Valence, but I don't think Valence has his own appellation beacause it's a urban city, but towns around have appellations, like Crozes-Hermitage which is a great wine.
We have good food it's right but I have nothing to compare with. Some friends are in Canada for studies and said they're regret french food ^^.
I followed performances of Boris so it's why I discover this team, but know I think that if Diaw is getting drafted, I'll always be fan of this attractive team, I like all guys that compose Bobcats.
But before Diaw was coming, I didn't have any favourite team in NBA. Just maybe New Orleans because of Chris Paul.
I follow Diaw (and other french players) performances just since I started watching NBA, in january 2008.

Try Czech than.) I actually studied French at my grammar school mais je suis oublié. Gramamr especially but vocabulary too. I still could get pronounciation right (except the french "rrr").

That's good you learned french at school, I don't think there actually are so much students who learn french.
Je suis oublié => I'am forgotten ^^. I've forgotten is "J'ai oublié".
And I can imagine that get this "rrr" is quite hard. Is there a difficult pronounciation in Czech language?

i knew there would be something wrong:)
I'm just not getting used to pronounce r properly french way - our teacher told us that it is pronounced differently in different french regions and we can stick with how we pronounce r in czech so I sticked with that.
I was reffering to a rumour that czech and Finnish are supposed to be the most difficult european languages to learn. I can't say but i wouldn't envy a foreigner who would try to learn it.
