Heres a super quick last minute game thread for tonight's game against the Cavs and Lebron "Captain Crab Dribble" James.
If we follow up the Celtics win with a victory against the Cavs tonight then I think we will be on our way to becoming a team that has to be taken seriously.
Thoughts on tonight's game?

This will be a hard game to win coming off an OT game vs Boston and Cleveland is rested. But without Big Z, we have a chance to win the inside game and keep close.

Looked on Yahoo.Sports to follow the game. They list the Top Performers of each game. Saw a sight I did not think I'd ever see. Our top perfomer was Sean Singletary with 5 pts and 1 reb. Never thought I'd see a game where at any time near the Half he was listed as our top performer.

The Bobcats need to try hard to establish the tempo early in games or they will find many games like tonights. We saw how good the team can be when they come out on fire and attack. They let Cleveland dictate this game. I guess they did not learn as much as we would have liked when they beat Boston. Boston showed up for that game and still lost. The Bobcats don't have much of a bench but if given time many bench players may at some point prove valuable. Really the Bobcats are most likely not going to make a playoff push. By the middle of this month if the losing continues Larry ought to think about giving everybody plenty of burn so he can evaluate who is with the team next year and who is not.

Why would LB have Hammer and not Ammo out there?
Singletary REALLY likes to look for his own shot - no matter what stage the shot clock is at, where he is on the court, who is guarding him or who else might be open!

Diaw played the most complete game with 10 pts 8 reb and 6 assists. Singletary had 13 pts and 3 reb in less than 20 minutes - great job! Everyone else was pretty much below avg. Ray had 15 pts but only 1 reb and 2 assists and DJ had 11 pts with only 3 reb and 3 assists. 5 assists between our 2 PG's and Diaw had 6 himself.

I know, it's scary. I mean, you can see there is talent there, but man, it feels like it's going to be a LONG time before we see it.
He looks lost with his back to the basket. His post up move is to half turn then while he is twisted in the air, throw the ball at the basket and hope like hell!
the announcers keep talking up singletary but its concerning that he had 0 assists
He cherry picked 4 of his points too.
Most of the time Singletary was not bringing up the ball, but set up as an outside shooter. Did not think he was selfish, and had 0 turnovers - played a strong game!
TattoodCats4life

Singletary isn't a "True" point guard... He is actually built and plays in a similar manner to the way Iverson did in college...which frankly is one of the reasons I think brown liked him so much... He played wicked today for someone who has been tossed around and drafted as low as he was...Lexy on the other hand leaves alot to be desired, even more so than his first few games it appears... He needs 10+ MPG to get developed...and its hard to find with 15 on the roster...

I don't know if we are playoff ready or not. But playoff games with travel don't happen on back to back nights. In fact there is often/usually a day between the games when they happen in the same city.
The guys didn't have it physically and I can't say that I am all that shocked. Cleveland at home, off a crab dribbling loss, while we went to OT to beat the defending champs is apples to oranges, especially when we travel and play the game in a less than 20 hour span.
Keetch
01-07-2009, 11:30 PM
I think the Cavs simply overmatch / overwhelm us. Unfortunately the Cats players and probably even the coaches know it. Not an excuse, in fact its inexcusable I think.
Varejao/Wallace are too big and Varejao too active...and that's without Ilguaskas. LBJ can score ANYTIME HE WISHES against us.
What kills me though is how Boobie always goes off on us as well, but I spose that's secondary.
Whatever.

i guess LB REALLY wants to be the one molding him..and maybe he's worried that if he is sent to the NBDL he might develop bad habits Good point; I hadn't thought of that, and if that's the case, I'm all for keeping him up here.
Being that I'm biased with Lexy, you can toss any credibility of what I'm about to say out the window, but there's no reason at all to fret about how he looks now. He's a very intelligent kid who is working hard to improve, but is getting scant playing time, which makes it appear that he is regressing from a month ago, which isn't the case. The turnaround move that got him to the foul line tonight looked like someone who'd been in the league for years, not to mention his rebounding.
This year is his introduction to the states, to the actual game of basketball, and learning to develop and hone his skill set. Out of all the players on the roster, on-court productivity matters the least when it comes to Lexy, so don't work yourselves into a lather worrying about his game....it'll come.
As for the Cavs game; only a title contender could've pulled off a sweep against those two teams back to back, especially considering the back half was against a team that hasn't lost at home. A healthy Raja would've made this game much more competitive (Matt shooting 1-8 as a starter?), but would've been a loss nonetheless. Like Keetch says, we just have terrible matchup issues with their guys, and we're done with them for the year, which is your silver lining for the night.
