I did the same thing for each prospect the last few years (dedicated a thread to each of them) and it seemed to work pretty well. Thought I would do it again this year.

I've seen Turner 4 times so far. I think he has great length which allows him to rebound well and makes him a good defender. He has pretty tight handles that he uses to shake his defender (usually with a cross over) and then pull up off the dribble for the J. His mid range J is really nice.

He doesn't finish well with contact and doesn't seem like the type of athlete that can rise above and throw down. Would be good if he added an NBA 3pt shot to his game.

Interesting prospect at the 2 spot though.

Reminds me of a less athletic Josh Childress

This guy intrigues me, can he create for other players as well? If we somehow are at the bottom of the lottery I think this guy might get some consideration.

He brings the ball down sometimes, but he's not someone who could run the point - if that's what you mean?

He seems pretty smart and has no problem giving the ball up so in that sense I'd say he can create for others.

I'm like you - I find him very intriguing. I think he's pretty close to being something really good. The lack of ability to finish in the lane bothers me a little though.

The Buckeyes are playing tonight at 7:00pm and it's on ESPN. I'll watch it before our games starts and record the rest for later to watch it then.

I've honestly never heard of him until you mentioned him a couple weeks back. Who would you honestly compare him to?

I watched Turner play against Michigan on the weekend.

He finished with 19/8/6 on 4/12 from the floor and 11/14 from the line.

There is SO much to like about this kid. He has a wicked cross over that he uses to make his defender invisable and get around him with ease. His mid range J is really good. There are just two missing things.

1. His 3 ball
2. His ability to finish with contact

I think the 1st thing can be worked on because he has a really nice stroke, but I'm not so sure about the 2nd thing. If he could finish with contact I would be ALL OVER him in the draft, maybe putting at #2 behind Harden on my SG board.

Anyone else been seeing him?

Honestly, no. I really haven't heard much about him at all. But from what you're saying he seems to be pretty good. I'll try and check him out and see for myself

Despite struggling against Illinois, Turner is in the midst of a breakout season, showing his combination of versatility, size, and ability.

8. Evan Turner (http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2008&playerId=19201), So., Ohio State
Turner is having a breakout sophomore season at Ohio State. He's the prototypical wing who can handle the ball, shoot with range and guard multiple positions on the floor. And this season, he has also shown excellent leadership ability on both ends of the floor.

While it doesn't look like he has superstar potential, Turner has a real chance to surprise people. Most scouts have him ranked in the late first round, but I think he's underrated.

Watching OSU Vs Michigan (Evans is having a great game) and I just saw something I really liked.

Evans was at the line shooting a FT and as he shot his 2nd one, Novak from Michigan threw a vicious and deliberate elbow at the grill of PJ Hill (Evans team mate) in a weak attempt to appear to box out.

Evans saw it, walked straight up to Novak and got right in his face letting him know he was not happy with what he saw.

I like to see that sort of leadership. I'm also liking Evans more and more.

Evans on a freaking tear of late. A SENSATIONAL night tonight against Purdue.

26pts (9/15 from the floor and 8/14 from the line), 12 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

Can't even begin to tell you how good this kids cross over and mid range game is. He's just so smooth.

Glenn Robinson?
Not as big (weight wise) and better handles.

Grant Hill? I mean, not that amazing, but that sort of style and verstaility.

Low end Josh Childress. High end Grant Hill.

Somebody compared T. Williams to Iguodala, but I think that Turner might be a good comparison to him too. I'm starting to like these two a lot for CHA...

I watched him in Ohio State's loss to Siena last night, and WOW. This guy is really good. Not only is he a pretty good shooter (who isn't just a 3pt guy, he'll shoot the mid-range as well), but he can drive and get to the basket. He also has some really good handles for a SG, and he can act as a 2nd PG on the court. I think he's moved to my 3rd SG behind Harden and Henderson, and maybe even ahead of Henderson. He kinda reminds me of Rip Hamilton.

Turner is saying he wont be entering the draft this year and will be going back to school.

Of course, he just lost a heart breaking game - so that might be logic talking. Be interested to see if he still feels that way in a couple of months time when he has to truly decide.

Way to ruin my good mood lol. Like you said he may be letting his emotions talk, but right now I'm going to not include him in my draft preparations... :(

Turner's team may have been ousted in the first round, but it wasn't his fault. He had a spectacular game for the Buckeyes, scoring 28 points, grabbing 9 boards and dishing out 8 assists. The performance confirmed the opinion of a number of trusted scouts who feel Turner is the most underrated player in the draft.
"He's so solid in so many areas of the game," one veteran scout said. "He needs to improve his perimeter shot, but the rest of the package is there."
Turner is currently projected to go somewhere between the late lottery and the middle of the first round. However, after the Buckeyes lost, he said he's returning to Ohio State for his junior season. But we'll see if that holds true. In the past, players often say similar things when their team is ousted from the tournament, only to reverse course after exploring their draft options more fully.

I hope that last part "seeing if it holds true" is wrong. Very wrong. His projection of late-lottery to mid-first fits the Bobcats perfectly...

I've been reading how some have him going mid-late 1st and I just don't see it, especially when they are also saying that DeRozan is top 10.

For me, Turner is light years better and more versatile than DeRozan and should be drafted above him.

I agree with you there, but hopefully the scouts don't lol. DeRozan just has this... bust factor about him. I get the same feeling from Evans too.

DeRozan is also clearly an NBA player. Same goes for how his predecessor O.J. Mayo did in college. DeRozan has probably the highest potential of all the guards projected in the lottery.

You read bust because he's one of those high risk/high reward type of players. He's either going to be mediocre in the NBA or he's going to be a 20+ppg player.
