After we completed the trade that brought in diaw/bell/sean pretty much everyone in the media blasted the Bobcats. But.. our W-L's after the trade I think are pretty respectable

Note: I think it would be unfair to include the Dec 13th game against the Piston ( first game that included the new starters), since Bell/Diaw had not had time to practice. Therefore, I'm excluding it from the calculations

Taking out this game our W-L's are:

7 - 7 (0.500) - Overall
4 - 3 (0.571) - Home
3 - 4 (0.429) - Away

6 - 6 (0.500) - vs Eastern conference
2 - 3 (0.400) - vs Atlantic
2 - 2 (0.500) - vs Central
2 - 1 (0.666) - vs Southeast

1 - 1 (0.500) - vs Western conference
0 - 1 (0.000) - vs Pacific
1 - 0 (1.000) - vs Southwest

1 - 2 (0.333) - vs teams with winning records
(Celts,Cavs,Hawks)

4 - 5 (0.444) - vs teams with better record that us (Celts,Cavs,Hawks,Bulls,Nets,Bucs,76ers)

3 - 2 (0.600) - vs teams with worse record than us (Grizz,Warriors,Wizards,Knicks)

4 -2 (0.666) - vs teams with played twice during this period
(Bucs, Nets, Wizards)

These stats can only be encouraging...and just makes me wish that we had started the season with the current roster. My biggest frustration is losing to the Knicks/Warriors at home, both with losing records and both are teams we should have beat.

While we are playing better, it is going to take a major push for us to break .500 and given the toughness of our schedule to finish off the season, I don't see it happenning.

Nevertheless, can anyone else who opposed the trade or thought it was a terrible idea disagree that we are a better team?

Awesome job with putting that together. This trade has pleased me, I'd love a .500 bobcats, we just need to figure out another move to get us to .65 from here out to give us a .500 season and hope for better next.

Agreed. That is why I was so dismayed when the talk started about Diaw and Bell going to NY for Curry. I especially love the fact that Diaw contributes on the assist end of things far more than I could have hoped.

Definitely, I seriously can't wait till he notches the bobcat's first Trip-Dub.

Also important to note that a good slug of those games were without Bell. I think we'd all agree that he's additive so one could argue we'd be slightly better than a .500 team during that stretch with him.

Actually, I may be jumping the gun assuming that everyone thinks he's additive. I do.

do you mean addictive? or additive?

This trade has the potential of being the best deal in Bobcats history. Bell & Diaw are vets who can help LB with helping grow this young team. I don't like that diaw seems to pass way to much. Bell isn't the loack down defender he was but the two of them make them team better. Plus lil sean will be a greatback up

I have no problem going on the record that the deal made our team better. Hearing Richardson's name for the first time in the deal was a little startling but I DEFINITELY think we are a better team after the trade.

Someone said that Diaw passes too much...I don't think so. I would say that of all things, ball movement has been one of the biggest differences since the trade. That is primarily a result of Diaw. He may make a few turnovers here and there but overall, his play seems contagious and I am completely against this whole notion of moving he and Bell on to NY for Curry and Lee.

Also, by the end of the season, I think Raja Bell will more than prove his worth and many of his detractors will reconsider. He may have "lost a step" but defense is a state of mind as much as anything else. Raja still has that "it" factor when it comes to defense and I expect him to improve defensively each and every game. Lost step or not, he is already our best perimeter defender.

Most definately the best trade we've ever pulled off, still hated losing Duds, had the feeling JRich would go sooner or later.... Now if we can only pull off another great trade and make us even better....

additive. said another way, he adds value, not subtracts it.

For me personally it wasn't about if we were going to be a better team, it was about getting taken advantage of, again, in a trade - just like we were when we traded for Rush, when we took on Nazzy, just like we were when we traded for Swish.

Add in the moves like Baxter and Harrington and there is a tragic history there.

but do you still think we got taken advantage of?

I'm not defending some of our previous moves, but as far as this one is concerned...

Big Slam, what is your definition of a good trade? My definition is 100% about if we are a better team after the trade. If we are, then it was a good trade, if not, then we were taken. I know contracts and salaries have to be taken into account in general, but we took less contract years back than we gave away so that wouldn't be a factor against us in this case...

I think putting this trade in the same sentence with the Nazr deal is doing it a real dis-service. IMO, this was a good trade that made us not only a better team, but also one that plays more of LB's style of play. I do not believe we were "taken advantage of" as we are clearly a better team after this trade.

Like, WAM9, when I saw JRich had been traded, there was defininte shock, but it only took a few minutes until I was excited about the move. I remember some here were upset because they felt it was making a trade for making a trade's sake, and I guess that was part of my enthusiasm too, but I just knew we were getting 2 quality starters and a backup for 1 quality starter and a backup.

Still, did I anticipate how good the trade was in our favor as it has turned out to be? No; but obviously, I hoped.

And, yeah, if Raj hadn't been hurt, the record would be even better, for sure!
