so i watched the Kentucky vs Tenn game to watch patrick patterson but Meeks stole the show. I mean 54 points 8 rebs and 4 assists??? and the fg percentage and 3point percentage were ridiculous? and hes already averaging 25 so this isnt a one time thing. But hes not all offense, hes an excellent defender with good size.

I've only seen him that one game when I was watching Patterson and he didn't really stand out to me then, of course he didn't score a zillion points in that game like he did last night!! I'll have to keep and eye out for him.

From what I did see he seems nice, but more a complimentary player? Didn't seem to have a great handle. I thought he looked a little on the small side too?

I'll have to see him a few more times before I can form an opinion though.

What NBA player/s would you say he reminds you of Jamie?

How about Rashard McCants as a comparative?

Honestly not sure what NBA player to compare him to but hes not small. Not big either but hes 6' 4" and he actually ran point some so i thought his handles were pretty good. I want to see him a scorer more and maybe less of a shooter in more games from here on out. I didnt see a lot of drives but he sure knows how to get open and even created for himself off the dribble some last night

And he's big. He's not slight like Evans. This guy is built heavily, so he can handle punishment

He's the hot topic right now, so I thought I would check him out again because last time I watched him I was a little under whelmed.

I'm watching the replay of the Kentucky Vs Arkansas game. It's a bit unfair because I already know he goes for 40+.

He seems a little short to me. He is frigging strong though. Just got a fast break and the defender tried to wrap him up from behind by throwing his arms right around him but Meeks just shrugged him off like he was nothing and easily made the "and one" play.

He picked off a pass before and speed away throwing down a nice two handed jam off two feet getting up really high.

He sure does like to shoot the rock!! Pretty much every time he's touched it he;s shot it - especially behind the line. Some times with 2 or 3 defenders on him (rather than passing to the open man).

He does have a very pretty J though.

He reminds me a LOT of Dequean Cook when he was at Ohio State.

He's no doubt another name to add on the long list of SG's we should look at this draft - and would be up near the upper end of my board.

To these two points

1. His d has been a knock on him as he overplays the steal alot
2. I hesitate to label a player as a "ball hog" in college since a lot of college players play on teams where they are "the shit" on their team and feel obligated to try to take over

 Welcome to the light my friend!

I wish he didn't play so selfish at times, but I have faith that'll stop when he hits the NBA

He finishes very well with contact. He really does just shrug it off and concentrates on finishing his shot.

I like that.

I didn't mind his D Jamie. He was quick to react when he picked off the passes I saw him hawk. He gets down low and has a nice wide stance.

Looks like he has an awesome motor too. For a guy who shoots as much as he does, he doesn't seem to run out of gas or get any less lift on his J.

Pretty good game in a losing efffort
Looked like the only good player on Kentucky tonight.
I saw some of that lunging tonight but besides that he DOES look like a solid defender

Man he shoots a lot though. He's a bit of a black hole. I mean, 17 shot attempts per game? Man that's a lot.

I'm not nearly as warm on him as you guys are.

Dude.
His team is absolutely terrible. Especially without Patterson.
There was a point at which Meeks had 16 points and the rest of his team had 15. Pathetic

Of course. That's what's going to happen when 1 player takes the majority of a teams shots lol.

Jodie Meeks is definitely not scared to shoot.

He's 9th in the country in shot attempts at 432 (Which happens to be exactly 100 attempts less than Steph Curry, who is 2nd)

But here's the kicker. For the players in the top 25 in shot attempts, there's only 3 that shoot at a higher percentage than he does. So while he does take a lot of shots, he shoots them at a high percentage. ;)

Couple of questions:

- What has changed to make him such a volume scorer this year from not really being a blip on the radar his freshman and sophmore years?

- Why did he miss so much time his sophmore season?

He was on the radar.
His freshman year he was one of the best freshman in the country and was widely considered to have some of the best potential in the country.
Freshman All-American i think?
Sec All-Freshman

But he was slowed by a sports hernia his sophomore year.

Poor game for Meeks today against Tennessee.

14pts (4-14, 0-7, 6-6), 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals.

I only saw the 1st half, but he really struggled to get open and rather than breaking his defender down by using his dribble (does he have handles? I haven't seen much evidence of that) he ended up being pushed further and further out. He took a lot of shots under pressure in hopes of getting something going, but he was stone cold.

Seems to try and force his offense rather than letting it come to him? Also, he's pretty much strictly a catch and shoot sort of guy so if his catch and shoot isn't falling, he's a little restricted.

Also, he gambles on D a lot. He picks off a couple of passes for steals and back away points, but he also gets burnt quite often.

He's staying in the Draft. If we had to go with a PF with our 1st round pick, I'd love to try and grab Meeks with #40.

I'd be ok using #54 on him. At #40 I'd rather someone like Christmas. Ideally though Adrien or Gibson at #40 and Meeks at #54 would be great with me.

Dont think he'll make it to #54 Slam. He's listed at #43 on Ford's Big Board, so maybe, but I think he'll be gone.

You know how much I like both of those players. With that said, Meeks is the better player and would be good next to DJ. Christmas would be good next to Ray.

Depends on if you want an overall athlete who will flat out score and provide a spark, or a guy who will rely mostly on spot up shooting on kickouts

Really? With his long range shooting I would have thought Meeks would be better next to Felts and Christmas with his length would be better next to DJ?

I think Meeks is more of an all around athlete that can score in a bunch of different ways without having to rely on somebody getting him the ball. That would be nice next to DJ since he's more of a shooter and doesn't necessarily command the ball as much.

Christmas to me, will be primarily an outside shooter. I've watched him all year and I just, for some reason, look at him as a Michael Redd type of guy that sticks around the perimeter--which would be nice next to Ray so he can kick it out to him.

I'm not saying Meeks can't shoot, because he definitely can, but I see his skillset working with DJ
