There will be plenty of BCP folks in the house tonight. I think the latest plan is to gather at the rooftop area between sections 215 & 216 prior to the game.
I look forward to seeing everyone. I'll be there around 6:30 with my first grade son. I'm doing my best to turn him into a Bobcats fan, but he is going 30% to see the game and 70% for the souvenirs
Portland is 24-15, 6-4 over their last 10 games and is loaded with so much young talent that it should be illegal. Brandon Roy, LMA, Fernandez, Bayless and oh yeah... Greg Oden.
Does anyone else remember this awesome missed dunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_oXlvSmp4o) from his Ohio State days? Even on his misses, the dude is sick.
Tonight (and every night from here on out) we'll be without Matt Carroll and Ryan Hollins. They are off to Dallas Texas, the city that has mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds. On the court it shouldn't be difficult to replace their production. In Matt's absence, Adam is going to have step up PERIOD. And there is no better time for him to start stepping it up than tonight.
This is a chance for our first 3 game winning streak of the season. So what do you say Bobcats fans, Is it going to happen?
ILBIT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Your Thread heading threw me off. I was saying, "hey, I thought we were at home, not in Portland". I'm having all these thoughts of how Diop is going to help us that my brain is fried! Cant be messing with my head like that, Ziggy.
I am expecting a victory tonight. Portland is exhausted after 2 tough back to backs on the road and they had to travel here in between. They are ripe for the taking!

Sorry about that, I fixed the heading. Its just another example of my fingers not typing what my brain tells it to. ;)

I just had a crazy thought....everyone has discussed the trade, everyone has tried to talk about where we go from here....but think about this...
We have 14 players, 2 will be inactive, and 12 will be active...
Diop has to be inactive because he hasnt cleared a physical by gametime, nor practiced...DJ is hurt and is not to play for at least 10 days, so i think he has 7 days left give or take...and of course Sean May is fat...
The question is which of those 3 are "active.." I see Shannon Brown and Lil Sean getting minutes tonight rotating on the 2 and 1 spots because Matt is no longer here to relieve Bell. Ammo clears behind Wallace.... but Does this mean possibly if we blow them out that XXL Sean can see a moment on the court?
These questions I ask in the name of Larry,
Amen.

If May cannot get on the floor in the next 2-3 weeks, I dont know he ever gets on the floor again. If he is that far out of shape, he just doesn't have the desire or heart to play the game. And that's very sad.

Agreed... He did play decent in college too, and I saw just a glimmer of what he could be when we played the OKC Thunder...but I see us just dumping the expiring contract to help someone else with cap space and get a pick instead... I wonder if he would go to the NBADL to play or if he would just wash out...

Brown & Singletary playing well off the bench. They're good matchups for Bayless & Fernandez...but they have to not leave Rudy in that corner like they have been.

The more I see of Singletary, the more I feel we got the better of the trade as we have 3 players who produce for us in ways we need, and gave up 2. Singletary was not a throw in as I believe LB knew exactly what he was getting.

All Raja...LB even was matching substitutions the 1st quarter. Ammo was on him for a couple of minutes but Roy didn't do anything then.

Maybe, but we have had 14 assists in a half - which shows good ball movement which usually = high percentage shots.
We shoot better from the line and we are up 10+ rather than 5.

Understood. But I think LB wants him to lose the weight in practice by showing the effort to care about his spot on this team. Sure he can run in a game, but likely it would hurt us if he cannot keep up. I want his effort showing in practice to show LB he cares and wants to be a part of this team.

Any win is a good win but when beating a team like Detroit it is more comforting to win without any excuses being given in the eyes of the media. Of coarse the media made excuses none the less. The Detroit win was and is a nice way for the Bobcats to get going but let me say that I don't like asterisk being next to the W. Many will do that in opinion. I want the Cats to beat people at their best so that there is true respect coming to the team.

Wow, that's a damn good playerI don't know if that is a sarcastic comment but a sharpshooter getting open looks is not a good thing when you are in a highly contested battle. So yes if we give up cheap 3's a player who hits them can beat us. It looks like the team may get their third straight win. If we don't foul a shooter or give up a three.

Nah, I meant it in a good sense.
Moreso, we didn't have that "leave me open, I'll rape you" type shooter tonight.

Very proud of the effort these men put forth! Notice how we are playing quality ball in the 4th and in OT to win these games. I dont recall us ever playing "clutch" ball late in games on a consistent basis. Against Boston, Detroit, and Portland. 3 tough games and we won them with quality play late in the game. And a quality win vs Washington also. That is the LB effect!

Well in the first half the Blazers did not play well and the Cats had their chances to go into the half with a sizeable lead. All in all though the team is coming together quite nicely. If Diop can add a much needed inside presence this team could make a serious push for the playoffs.
It is hard to get over pessimism when your favorite team has struggled a lot in it's growing but I am starting to feel better about things. I have been feeling better for about a month but I just am ready to see some wins. Now that they are coming it feels real good. Go Bobcats!!

Felton is starting to impress me now and Wallace had a fantastic game. I am starting to trust Brown and maybe Diop can really help out more with D. There were two times though that Wallace blocked the shot and they couldn't score which sucked so they have to work on that hardcore but still a great win to say the least..hopefully we can keep this up against the Spurs on Monday...wishful thinking

Even if the Celtics were struggling when we beat them, we nearly beat them last year when they were hot. If we can beat good teams like the Celtics, Pistons and Blazers we can beat those Spurs. I think this team believes and that can go a long way to having things go their way.

Well, you always go with a Big if available. Between he and Durant, I think just about everyone would have gone with Oden as long as they already did not have a dominant Center. Cant blame them for taking Oden. That said, he really is still in his Rookie season, so I cant call him a bust yet.

I don't want to jinx this team or anything, but if we can beat the Spurs in two days, watch out.
I mean, asides from that blow out by the Cavs, we've actually been in all of the games, and we're now suddenly starting to hit our strides.
Once Diop comes in, and DJ comes back, that really solidifies our second unit, or if we interchange DJ and Felts, and make Felts our 6th man/Combo guard, seriously, that's a good team.
We finnaly play like a team, and we also get good depth.
Now only if we could get rid of Nazzy and the "I had a good work-out pre-game, guess I'll ice it out while my teammates busting ass game-time" McMay

Well, he did come back from Micro-fracture.
That being said, he's not even the best center of his class (Brooks is), let alone the best rookie.
But I'm gonna reserve my judgement til the end of next season.
If Oden is still like this a year from now,
then yes, he is a bust of all hypes.
But not now, he's not even in the Kandi-man range yet.

Guys, we allow the 7th fewest points in the NBA! We have a pretty strong Defense, and no one gives us credit. And we just added a Defensive presence in Diop!
Another thing, our point differential is down to 2.7. We just need to score more points.

I'm still less than pleased with the crowds, but that's neither here nor there. If the Bobcats continue to play this well (and in such entertaining fashion), the crowd will be there.
How in the world was Gerald's alley-oop dunk over Oden not a top play on ESPN? They had one from the Louisville/Pitt game when some guy threw down a simple two hand jam on a wide open dunk, yet Gerald didn't make it? I mean I know its insignificant and trivial, but I guarantee you if Kobe did that it'd be all over. Oh well.

I have to create the official "I was WRONG about Bell/Diaw" thread soon to eat my own words. Wow were playing really great ball as of late & slowly but surely regaining that indentity we had during the Bickerstaff days. As a team that gives 100% night in & night out win or loss. Only now though it's a winning attitude installed ever since the Boston win it seems. Hopefully the boys can keep it up and leap frog some teams fighting for playoff spots. I only see us getting better once DJ14 returns.

Great game from the guys.
Strong work from Gerald. Solid play from Oak. Good work from Boris despite his offensive struggles (big shot in OT!). Great management of the game by Felton, including some good (not lucky) shots and decisions near the end of regulation and OT. It's a shame he didn't get to start his NBA career with LB type coaching.
Good job by the guys overall. The sucky thing is that we spend so much time thinking about what we can trade and become that it's hard to consistently what the current group is evolving into.

When I grow up I'm going to have a beard like that. ;). It was a great to talk to you guys. LOL! Remember, this is the selfsame beard that was proposition by the drunk chick at Backcourt of the GSW game. Plus, MT was able to tell I was at the game tonight because he said he could see my beard up in 215 from the floor; any thoughts of trimming it this decade have officially been expunged ;) On the serious side, it was a pleasure meeting you and your son, ziggy! Must do it again this later in the season.
The game was lots of fun again, and it's gotten to the point I go to games expecting five free minutes of basketball. Even though the strange phenomenon of running for the exits at the end of regulation still occurs, OT games are fun as hell...and it doesn't hurt we've done so well this year.
A signature Gerald game with perhaps his greatest dunk ever? The allez-oop slam and one over Oden left me slack-jawed for 5 minutes, and just standing with my arms outstretched and then just clapping and clapping and clapping; the standing ovation from the crowed was very cool, and you could tell GW was soaking it up...AND adding even more fuel to the fire of his outstanding game.
Tough shooting night for Raj and Boris, but they still did their own things to keep the Cats right there the whole night, with Boris's magnificent passing and ball-handling; and Raja's flypaper D on Roy; that was a work of art seeing him giving Roy no quarter whatsoever.
Massive kudos to the bench (except Nazr); there was very little if any drop-off when they entered the game, and they brought plenty of energy; Juwan has just been...wow...who knew?
Just great vibes all around the TWC tonight; it seems that fans are coming to the games now expecting a win every night, and I know that's never been the case since the Cats have been in existence: special stuff!

Skim Sean and Shannon played well when on the court (they thank you for the PT, Matt!) and I wasn't even confused when they played both of those guys next to Felton. They can both have some handles and can score! Real excited about this game. Feeling some of that insomnia thar you're talking about, Slam!

My other favorite play was Felton's drive to the basket where he kept his dribble, curled along the baseline, passed to Diaw, who then delivered a perfect pass to Okafor for a dunk.
It was like watching a hockey play. Gorgeous.

I noticed that play. We ran it a couple of times. Drive the base, kick it out to Diaw at the high post and while the defenders are turning to look at him he whips it to the wide open EO50 at the soft side of the rim. I think we ran it back to back in the OT. It worked well.
I've also noticed we have been running a give and go of late. A play that I am a HUGE fan of and hope to see more of.

In College he was so much more gifted that he many times had big games when he played flat. In the NBA I feel he needs to be a bit more aggressive. If he shows more passion and does not get down on himself when things aren't going well I think he has a bright future. Still, his main weakness is going to be his lack of passion and fire imo.
