What do you think we could snag in a DJ trade? I think we would get more trading him with Nazr than we would with Felts. Sure he is an up and coming pg but if we could snag a legit sg and some major bench players who would go for it. Sean Singletary I think will be a good pg with scoring potential just like Dj but not as good, so all we need is a vet pg to play behind Felts while LB teaches Sean the ropes. Everyone has seen his game and knows he has potential and is young so that would be a plus for us.

Anyway it is just a thought not something that has been talked about or anything but it is something to consider if we are actually thinking about keeping Felts. Letting DJ go for a young sg and bench players helps us out and we unload Nazr's contract and we start developing Sean right away.

The first trade is insane because Minn gets away with DJ for nothing much (Miller I guess is okay). The second trade I have to ask, do you think Miami would trade the #2 draft pick who is kicking butt for them for our #9 pick?
That all may be just the fact that I'd trade Meka before DJ...but that's just me.

i would say no to trading DJ just on the idea that we dont even know what we have....i would like to see how good he can before i trade him away...same with lexy

trading DJ is just about as stupid as drafting him was in the first place.
He will be a great point guard in the future, but Raymond is comming on that status now.

The FO would be hugely derelict in their duties if they didn't explore the option of trading DJ.
He was a 9th pick and is undersized. He has a lot of great qualities to compensate for that...but in no way should he be considered with the likes of LBJ & Bryant.

So would I - but I'd worry about how Rudy and Crash would co-exist?
If we are going to do it, let's go for the home run!!

plus we add in Bell and a 1st round pick.
I don't think either one of the first 2 trades would work. We get virtually nothing back from Minnesota in the 1st and Miami wouldn't have any reason to do the second.
As far as Spectre's proposal for Gay and Conley...I would be all over that one in a heartbeat. I'm still not sure that Memphis would do it but it certainly is more reasonable, for both sides, than the first 2. Not sure what Larry Brown thinks about Gay and Conley however. He certainly seems to be a DJ fan. Does Conley have just as much upside as DJ? I'm not sure he does. Memphis has given away guys for much less however...

Hah...that would come close to making my sig line true!!!
Options. Getting Gay would give us options in moving Crash for even more options/talent.
Another route would be Portland. Assuming Pritchard wasn't just owning MJ during the draft...LMA in some package for DJ maybe?
I think Bell's trade value is going to be HUGE at the deadline if we're willing to part with him. If we were to combine him with DJ just imagine the possibilities. Granted that would probably have to be with playoff teams, but just imagine something like DJ/Bell for Ginobli (as an example).
Course we'd never be able to put up with Fats after that.

Hellz to the naw about trading DJ...EVER. He has the same fire as CP3 in my opinion..hell, he guarded CP3 fantastically

I may get slaughtered for this, but anyway......
Crash >> Gay
HOLD ON, LET ME EXPLAIN!!!!
It's mainly because I'm thinking that when Gay gets off his rookie deal, he's going to be paid (or at least want to be paid) a lot more than what Crash is making. More like Iggy money.
Because of that, I'd take Crash over Gay.

I'm firmly against trading DJ without getting back an all star... but this is something I could live with.

His value isn't even close to that of an All Star.

No his current value isnt...but he is the most likely to develop into one. I for one would like to hold on to him, but he's made us quite a bit better, so he'd have to bring in someone who just missed being an all star reserve, if not an actual all star game reseve level talent. (I didnt mean someone who got voted in maybe thats what you thought).

Yeah, DJ's not in the same conversation with Roy.
Nobody is untouchable. That's for sure.
I'm not sure what I'd like to see for DJ, but Rudy Gay would work.

Man you guys are funny! All star? Brandon Roy? I like DJ, but predictions of him were seldom if ever being much more than a solid starter. He has some excellent strengths, but he has weaknesses too.
Slam...then we would trade Gay for something else. Someone would pay him just like you said, and when you have Bird Rights you'll get something very good back.
And I agree...Crash is better.

The player gets a better deal when the big contracts are done thru Bird Rights. An extra year plus bigger raises.

God I hope so but I certainly doubt it.

I was reading over on real gm where there are alot of teams looking for pg play and Dj could actually bring us a star sg. We could acquire someone like D. Cook from Miami with pieces and picks and Salmons and picks from the Kings. Maybe even squeeze Thompson in the deal from the Kings. Dj could be our best piece to fit along side Nazr.
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?
01-19-2009, 09:05 PM
I imagine that RF would be traded before DJ.
But technically, like someone else, everyone in the roster should be in the trading block.
The issue is long term vs short term success. This is our biggest project with the biggest upside (the other two being AA and S. Brown). Not sure if I would sacrifice that for some short term success.
I believe LB will be here for at least two more seasons. That's enough time for DJ to develop and bring us to to playoff, if we are to trade Felton.
I guess I just don't see us trading DJ and I don't see it as a smart move.

I can't imagine trading DJ for anything, it one have to bring us a superstar IMO, not 2 or 3 players who put together can do what he does... DJ, Bell, Crash, Diaw, Okafor is playoff caliber IMO, even with felton I think its playoff possible, we need depth is what we need though, and I really don't want to lose a starter or potential starter for that when we can draft and sign FA for it...

I think it's safe to assume that DJ is going nowhere unless it brought us a significant presence. I don't think Brown would have gone out on a limb to draft DJ only to trade him for parts in his rookie year.

The scary thing is we have only seen a tid bit of what DJ can do, I am biased (Texas Fan) but this guy is sick. I just find it frustrating that the FO has put all the Cats fans in this situation. Felton vs DJ.......let the saga continue.

First i like DJ14 but talk about being WAYYYYYYYYY over rated . Conpared to CP3, Roy as if his value is any where close to that kind of value . The KID is a rookie if he takes Felts starting position and turns out average or slightly better you guys will be trading him for a peanut butter sandwich. In the next two years?
People compared Felton to CP3 Williams ever week in Felts rookie year . Ziggy even created a shirt saying Felton is better than CP3.
Bottom line i think we tend to over value draft picks and first year players.
It could just be the unknown of getting the next MJ or the next king James .
We dont seem to remember 99 percent of the players drafted don't turn out to be as good as they are billed to be coming out of college or in thair first year.
I really don't see nothing that over the top special in DJ14 though i think he could become a solid starter . But i don't see allstar with all the bigger and better young points in the league now. Hes not even the best point in this years draft . But we tend to still over value him.

That's the truth. You can see in how people talked about Weaver, Dudley, and Davidson, just to name a few. Dudley will probably be a rotation player, but there's a strong possibility that Weaver and Davidson only play a couple of seasons' worth of NBA games.
Although, part of our job as fans is to be excited about our prospects. I, for one, was extremely optimistic about Davidson. Now, he looks like a prime candidate for Europe.

I think what it is is the fact that we know larry likes to rebuild a team ground up...I'd be shocked if this time next year we had any pre-larry players left on the roster...Its sad, but that is how larry works, and MJ knew that bringing him in...I think that MJ is probably happy that Meka is BYC so he's nearly untradable. May expires, Felton will either trade or resign and trade next season, Ammo has 1 season left, so we'll probably pack him up before next season's deadline to a team wanting 2010 cap space real bad. Nazr we're trying to pack up with Ray as it stands. That leaves Mek and Wallace, both of whom I don't see him "eager" to trade, (well wallace only because he could bring back someone with star quality who is just past prime). Anyway Mek and Wallace he won't actively dangle, but I think we've made it clear anyone out there can have anyone on our roster if they pay the right price...and frankly I don't think its a bad idea, we just need to make sure we keep team chemistry in check too.
