It's early, I know, but I'm anxious as all hell...

We've got 3 players from them that now play real minutes instead of "we're up 20, you go ahead" minutes....They got a 40+ min guy from us and are playing him less, and his "star" power average of 20+ ppg is sure dropping, 15 and change last I looked, I've removed his "player widget" from my igoogle. Dudley doesn't even count over there except a body, and that is so sad, the guy has worked SO hard to be here, maybe we'll sign him as a FA when his rookie scale is done...

Tomorrow night is going to be a battle of wills, the Suns play hot and pretty fast and are scoring high pretty consistently, but are notably flipped with our record over the past 5, they are 1-4 we are 4-1 (who'da thunk it eh?).

I honestly think if anyone of the 3 great guys we got in tread with Phoenix has something to prove its Raja, he has that "told ya so" swagger and frankly I see him poping at least a season high, if not getting near his career high PPG with good other numbers to round it out. I also think Diaw may try a bit harder to get a trip-dub...that'd be killer. I'm going to say 40 points between the 3 ex-suns, and 20 for J-rich, if Dudley plays its because we are down lots, so I'd think we should hope he doesnt play :).

I'm also finding myself wondering who we might start. DJ is unlikely to be ready yet, he told me "the road trip" last game so I wouldn't doubt that. May is still not ready, albeit he told me he was "a few games away" but it hasn't been a few games. The only "variable" that I'd say might change our tried and true line up is Diop. Gana only played a few minutes and he had some "I'm in charlotte, they're goign to call that against me" adjustment to make, but with the Suns front court I can see Larry, if not starting at least trying, having Diop and Meka play together. Now we know how well <rofl> Nazr and Meka played together last year...but this is a different circumstance and I can see with the way that EO is playing that we're likely putting alot of work into making him more power forward capable.

Alright, fingers hurt...

LETS GO CATS....

If you couln't tell by me starting a game thread a full day before the actual game is played, I'm excited for this one.

I was one of the few that didn't immediately hate the CLT-PHX trade. It wasn't because I hated Jason Richardson (quite the opposite) and it wasn't because I loved Diaw or Bell. I just knew the Bobcat's weren't winning and we acquired a guy who could play the PF position more adequetely than any one we have ever had. That was all i needed to hear. And to be quite honest I don't miss J-rich "the player" as much as I miss J-rich "the teammate".

So I'm excited to see how Richardson is adjusting to my least favorite state in the Union. I mean if your gonna be miserably hot and sticky, at least in Vegas you can gamble and look at women who aren't retired or morbidly obese. But I would be lying if I didn't admit I'm more excited about seeing The Big Aristotle. Yes, Wilt Chamberneezy is my favorite player outside of this Bobcats Universe. I still think the Diesel is the most dominant player to wear an NBA jersey, and a pretty hilarious dude to boot. Here's a youtube's to get your blood pumping.

Above all that, I'm excited to see this Bobcats team play. If you haven't seen the improvement over this season, you're either Stevie Wonder or a Time Warner Cable subsciber. But seriously, whens the last time you as a Bobcats fan could see a line up that included Shaq, Stoudemire, Hill, Richardson and Nash and honestly think we should get the win? Better passing, better defense, higher confidence and flashing an ability to close out games. Larry Brown is making a stong case for the "best thing to ever happen to this franchise" award. Before I go crowning us champions, lets take a look at the lineups:

SunsBobcatsPGNash (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=592)14.2Felton (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2753)13.6SGRichardson (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=1018)17.1Bell (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=49)10.6SFHill (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=336)10.7Wallace (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=1026)16.3PFStoudemire (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=1727)21.3Diaw (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2167)10.8CO'Neal (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=614)17.8Okafor (http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2399)14

It's a tough matchup no doubt especially in the front court, but I'd take Larry Brown over Terry Porter any day of the week. We have won our last 4 of 5 contests, and they have lost their last 4 of 5. I really would like to see Dude get some playing time. Sadly, it's not likely. Jared has averaged 4 minutes over the last 5 games and thats including two DNP's. Hopefully Porter won't be a dick and lets Dude get some burn against his former mates. Maybe Bell and Diaw come out sending a message to the PHX front office. Here's hoping.

I leave you with more from the one and only... Shaqovic. CAN YOU DIG IT!!!!!

i really want the bobcats to win but if shaq is gonna be playing tommorow i dont see how we are going to match up.

shaq is playing nasty, then they have amare who is a difficult matchup for anyone.

nash has been the assist king the last few games and then they have j rich who really wants to win vs his former team.

the bobcats are really gonna have to fight for this win

You are the moderator, I'm not picky, just as long as my first post doesnt get lost all together I'm not bitchy at all... It was a good post that you put up... and as we both see it we're going to win...

I'll put it here so its more likely to be seen, tonight the Grizzlies tossed their head coach.. so funny right after we destroyed them 5 feet in front of my eyes ;)

Well, the Suns laid an egg vs the Knicks Wed night, so they are either mad as hell and ready for a bust out game, or they are on a losing streak. Remember, this is exactly how the Boston Celtics got on that 2-7 streak.

I feel good about this one, but unsure exactly why. Just the confidence in the team that they have instilled in not only themselves but us as their fans. They believe they will win, and now the fans do.

I think we might have to employ the same tactics we did in the game vs Portland: start going down low to Emeka early and often to try to get Shaq and/or Amare into some foul trouble. Also, Crash can play like a wrecking ball and just crash the lane and try to get the big guys into foul trouble.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we also see a lot of Diaw lurking on the perimiter to attempt to lure Amare from clogging up the middle, which will give us some flexibility for posting up, or drive-and-dish plays. If we play smart and play hard and do all that for every second of the game, we have a very good chance at showing them up tonight.

Oh, one more thing....the bench needs to freakin score too!

I honestly think this game we'll win or lose at the line... because we need to get their bigs in touble quick, I'm talking 3 min 3 fouls for Shaq quick...If we do that we can handle their backcourt, as long as none of our bigs forget that J-Rich will definately try to light it up above the rim tonight.

They have to pick A) Let him score the 2, B) foul light and he gets it at the line and we're in trouble, or C) (my choice) we foul HARD HARD HARD and maybe he doesnt play the next few games :) (Love J-rich but he's the enemy now)

This is The Game of the homestand. I want this win too much, so a loss will be brutal moreso psychologically than in the standings. I think we've never had a better opportunity to beat the Suns than we do now, but you never know...

Obviously the match up to watch is Raja/JRich where my money is hands-down on Raja!!! Then again, the Boris/Amare matchup is intriguing as well since Amare caused Boris's lack of minutes and production.

I've been so sick/hopped up on drugs/excited about this game i couldn't do a proper blog post. I started one but it was: "Bobcats bench blows, 2 guys playing former team, J-Rich returns, umm shaq is crazy and awesome, amare all star starter? phoenix has beaten the bobcats 8 of 8 times and are averaging 118 against, bobcats havent played them close it seems like, ever, winning 4 of 5 and phoenix lost 4 of 5 and lost to NY."

See no contiguous thoughts, just all disjointed. i'm jacked for this game though. I'm going, i feel like doo doo but at least it's not 4 degrees outside.

So our D is top shelf so far? It "sounds" like it, but it's nice to know for sure.

Suffocating, rotating, talking, playing the lanes.

Shaq looks great in the post and is giving EO50 fits, but other than that, our D has been.........stunning.

The amazing D has generated point after point. We have a LOAD of fast break points and points off turn overs.

Amare is NO idea of how to score with Boris guarding him.

I am honestly blown away.

Wow. i'm not able to watch many games, but one thing stood out in the Box score. Well, actually a few things. The first was Diaw. He's brought more to this team that J-Rich ever did IMO, and I hope he keeps it up. The second was Amare's numbers. looked like he was shut out. Another was Diop. 14 minutes and 1 rebound? I guess it's early... The final thing I want to point out is Okafor's numbers. Was he in foul trouble early or did he go into hiding because Shaq was on the court? And I didn't even talk about Crash's big night...

Great defense tonight. Dominated them all outside of Shaq.

We cut the head off their offense tonight.

Nash and Barbosa combined for 4 pts 8 assists 8 TOs on 2-12 shooting. J-Rich was locked down. Hill and Amare were non-factors.

The Suns shot 36% from the floor and that was likely brought up in garbage time.

All right... So I was nervous, I mean playing a team we've never won against, seeing all the Suns fans there etc... we lost the tip, damn we're going down so quick..but no, 90 seconds, 5 possessions still 0-0...Then OK-A-FOR... they got up on us for a moment in the first, but from there out the score kept growing and growing...Calls were even going our way for a good part of the first half...up by a bunch at the half...holding the suns, one of the NBAs most productive offenses to 37 in a HALF, thats their typical quarter... "I thought we were playing OKC" my wife said...it was that insane...The second half we kept it up and that is even more important...maintaining the momentum past the halftime break...they took their starters out (gave up) before we did...

The thing I was shocked by was the invisible/hiding Okafor...when shaq was out he wasnt (except when he got fouled). Was a bit shocked we didnt have Diop/Nazr out with Meka for some time...but Juwan + backup center was decent too...

We're moving up, and its just crazy...win against the pacers, get DJ back (more likely at LAL) then tear up the Lakers and go perfect on the road trip :) We do dream...but at least its realistic now :)

I was there tonight as i go to every game now unless i am out of town but have been at every game since the bucks before xmas. Here are my takeaways

The arena was about 2/3 full maybe a little more but i still was able to move right near center court on the upper deck without even thinking of someone telling me they actually bought the seat (My season tickets are in a corner but i always just go sit in 224

Diaw is the main differenc ein this team, he stretches the D, handles the ball like pretty much no one in the league for his side and has finesse and range, he makes the whole team better with his ball movement and opening up the inside

Bells defense is great as always as he is a ringer, on wed night he could not miss, he has respect for his shot from the other team in every game

i dont hate felton like i first did but he still had plenty of examples tonight of just stupidity ont he floor

Juwan Howard is the bench steal of the season, the guy works his ass off and is really in it for the game, he adds a lot of value to this team

Nazi is useless

Diop so far is even more useless, hopefully that will correct itself though bu Nazi's only use tonight was fouling shaq and in general he sucks

This team is on a roll. I attended my first game a month ago, have been to every game sice and am a diehard fan now i even cashed in on the deal of the night and got a fleece balnket and slipper for $7 cobines and then a felton and Okafor Swingman set for $53 total on ebay. I am in it for the long haul now

We will likely make the playoffs but we need a lot more depth if we ever plan to go anywhere once getting to the dance

Heard there was a good game tonight; by the time I got there it was a 28 point lead with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd.

If I hadn't gotten behind a lady that confused an entrance ramp with a driveway, and consequently popping her bumper a bit, I can only imagine what I could've gotten to see. Instead I watch traffic zoom past me on 77 waiting on a patrolman to come calm this old lady down, and have him fill out a report (God forbid we settle this between ourselves). Hell, the highway monitor guy that came by said with the little damaged it caused either of us, she shouldn't go to the trouble of reporting it, but fuck it, she did, I owe $172 in fine and court appearances and I'm supposed to be in court at goddam 9am sometime in March.

Then my battery fucks up and I have to get patrolman to call in a tow truck for me, waiting another half hour for him to come. Still, I've always liked to ride in tow trucks, so I got to have a little bit of childish fun asking him what such and such button does, and what kinda shit has he seen over the years, and he tells me about his time as a repoman and we're both cussing like sailors at dumbfuck drivers.....a lot of fun!

After he starts me up, I hang around at the lot a bit with the guys and shoot the breeze (I forget the name of the service, but it's right there on N. Davidson....cool dudes) and make my way into the Arena and hear a score of 78-54 or something like that, and I get upset all over again thinking we're down, and it turns out we're not, and I'm walking around the concourse slack-jawed.

Like Tattood, I picked up a Raja jersey in the store, go up to my seats, watch the last 14 minutes of action, give GW an ovation for his performance (which I heard from neighbors was good), see Lexy put up 4, 2, and a gorgeous assist to Shannon for a nice slam, and it was a fantastic close to an......interesting night.

Phew...

The only thing that could have made that game any better would have been a game time trade announcement that we traded Sean May for Steve Nash :) (Not that that's even possible)... But seriously that was the best night of bball I've seen...Then came home and the last part of the Cavs/Warriors game was killer too, action packed.

that sucks Beagle. old ladies blow, should have hit her harder, made her earn those tears. just kidding... kind of.

what a pass by Lexy that was though. Shannon hung on the rim to slow it down a little bit too... it was nice. Too bad the arena crew had gone for the night apparently and gave us no replay.

There are two stories to this game; depending on where your heart is; but both are valid I think. They are opposing stories: The emergence of the Bobcats as a winning club, and the eminent demise of the Suns as a contender. The second story does not diminish the first. We . blew . out . the . Suns!

The Shawn Marion for Shaq trade was just bad for both the Heat and Pheonix; Miami still lacks a center. Imagine what they'd look like with Shaq, Beasley and Wade? Yet adding Shaq to the Suns just killed what made Phoenix so dangerous and entertaining; the D'Antoni offense. Shaq in...Amare to PF (where he's much less active)...D'Antoni to NY.

Either ESPN or NBA.COM reported that Nash has a bad back and shouldn't have played. That makes sense, Nash was pretty worthless out there. But that's happening to Nash more and more these days. His value is diminishing rapidly.

From what I saw last night, Terry Porter isn't doing much to help the Suns. They came out shooting quick jumpers and turning the ball over; sort of the anti-Larry Brown offense in action. The only time they were at all effective was when Shaq would back down whatever poor Bobcats slob was trying to stop him. But Shaq can only do that for short bursts, so not big worries.

On defense; as big as Shaq is...we were easily getting behind him for inside backdoors and lay-ins. Shaq doesn't have the mobility any more and doesn't seem to like to turn around to defend an inside shot. It was very, very funny to see 2 or 3 of our guys under the rim, while Shaq is standing still in the middle of the key facing the other way. Where's Amare? Generally, standing outside the key; deferring to Shaq. On O, Amare settles for jumpers and goes inside much less. Works for me. What a waste for the Suns though! ...to be continued...

On our side; it was big time retribution night for Boris and Raja. I could see it in their faces. I think those guys must be REALLY upset with whats become of their old team. I think they wanted a BIG PIECE of Porter's butt (and Kerr too probably). Near the end of Diaw's big 3rd Quarter run, after he made a huge 3, the Suns called timeout and Raja ran to the bench screaming at Boris. He was pretty fierce, in a good way. Man, I think I was watching a Raja Bell stress release, and it was a bit daunting; again, in a good way!

Raymond Felton didn't have a great statistical game; and there were a few times he shot it too quick; but SO what? Man I am overwhelmed and overjoyed by the emerging change in his game. He's picking up a little of the Raja swagger I think. I just don't see those crazy eyes lately. His control of the offense is spot on and his defensive play is strong.

I think the jury is still out whether Diop is a better player than Ryan Hollins. Diop's been pretty ineffective so far, but its too early. I just don't see any fire in Diop at all. If there ever was a guy that seems to riding a big contract.....well we'll see. I suppose the ONE thing that Diop gives LB is a big body that will hold a position on the floor, and not run all over the place like Ryan did, likely disrupting our game (and LB's brain waves) on both ends. But so far, I'd say Ryan is the better shooter, shot blocker and rebounder. But what good is all that if the guy is incapable of figuring out how to fit in on the court?

One thing for sure...for now Diop is making Mohammed better. I'm seeing a little more light in Nazzies game than pre-Diop. Is he feeling a little challenged?

Okafor deserves to be in the All Star game. Nuff said.

Okay, on the second string....lets just say it'll be great to have DJ back. I think we're seeing the end of Ammo. He's just not producing anything on the court. I doubt he's back next year. Ditto, Shannon Brown; beyond the occasional highlight dunk (those ARE cool though!). Juwan Howard's doing a great job, just PLEEEASE sit down Juwan, I can't see through you, and unlike you; I've PAID to watch the game A LOT.

Beagle: Man what a mess? I'm amazed you kept your chin up through all that...good job man.

On my end...I took my daughter to the game. She's going to ASU up in Boone. I drove from Winston to Wilkesboro to pick her up and then to Charlotte. We left the game with 2 minutes left at 9:15 and got caught in a mess of a traffic jam in our (normally easy) parking garage. We always park under the Childrens Museum, but there was some sort of event going on there that let out just as we got there. It took until nearly 10 pm to get out of the garage, and then we hit some downtown gridlock. By the time I drove to Wilkesboro and back to Winston it was 12:15.

After we'd been sitting in the exhaust fumes for over 30 minutes, some nut tried to cut in front of us when we were like 3 cars from the gate. The guy in front of me starts yelling to "get to the back of the line" and I rolled down my window and yelled "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!" I'm happy the guys weren't packin'.

Anyway...it was all worthwhile. My daughter had so much fun at this one, that she was asking me if the Bobcats were ever on ESPN and could she get the games on cable in Boone! :D

Glad you enjoyed the game, as did my wife and I and we brought my niece as part of her birthday present... She even got a t-shirt from the rally cats so she was pleased...

I was at the game as well. I work a block over from the arena and just stayed late, grabbed some dinner, and walked over. There's definitely a lot more buzz around the Cats now that the tide is turning (i.e, they're starting to win). It's cool.

I can't add much to what's been said about the game but I think we might make one more move to get more bench depth once DJ gets healthy.
