The trade for Boris Diaw early on looks to have been a good one despite what you naysayers say. However, we all know that at some point the Bobcats must become players in free agency. I know it's not that simple. But over the next two years there will be an impressive list of ballers available. Names like Marion, Boozer, Howard (2010 FA), Redd (2010 FA) and Chandler (2010 FA) to name a few, would be beneficial for the team success. Oh yea, let us not forget that it would put bodies in the seats at the arena. So I ask you this Bobcats' nation, "Can the Bobcats be serious players in 2009 FA?" If not '09 then how about the year we're all waiting for 2010?

'09 FA:

C. Boozer
A. Iverson
Lamar Odom
Ben Gordon
S. Marrion

A look ahead to a few 2010 FA not named LeBron or Wade:

A. Stoudemire
C. Bosh
J. Howard
T. Chandler
M. Redd

Got a wish list for your Bobcats?

Sound Off!

Their focus should be on their own free agents this off-season. Felton, Juwan, Shannon, and both Seans will all have to be addressed. They may have a lil cap room to play with, but more than likely it would be a 2nd tier guy that the team would be looking at.

Honestly right now I think the only names we need to be marketing to the Charlotte area are okafor (who is becoming better than most big men in the League), Diaw, and DJ...Wallace too

No need to get a big name for big bucks when we have a few here.

Hells yes... AI loves LB too from what I understand, so it could happen... Having AI teach the good sean would be wicked too...then we could have AI part II after he leaves :)

AI would be a pipe dream and really he doesn't make whatever team he goes to better. I agree with whoever said we need to look at our own first. Ray, in my opinion, must be a priority, unless DJ absolutely takes over after the all-star break. you keep singletary, let may walk, juwan can come back if he doesn't expect much money. I really don't know who else is a FA. We have some heavy contracts and I really don't know what the cap space looks like. Tamb is the guy for all that, where you at Tamb?

If he would be willing to take less money to play under Larry Brown, he could be that 1 piece we need to be a 'too legit to quit' type team in the East. A high scoring shooting guard that can consistently do it is what we are lacking, Raja is great, but he cannot score 25 points on any give night, that was never his role. A rotation of Iverson-Raja Bell-Shannon Brown/Morrison would make me happier than a temporary marriage to Eva Mendez.

We need to go after the king and only the knig. MJ should be our spokesman. We have a young team that would be the perfect setup for a Lebron led dynasty. Charlotte is one of the holy citys of basketball. Larry Brown has a proven system. I think we have some things to offer.

When the sun sets at the end of the huge 2010 free agency, Lebron will be in one of three jerseys:

1. A Cavs (like i think he will)
2. A Knicks (like the world thinks he will)
3. A Euro League (like the equivalent of 60 million tax free dollars a year knows he will)

I just dont see him in CHA, the market is too small. Plus, if we go hard at him, we will expend all our resources 'chasing rainbows for pots of gold' so to speak and end up with nothing instead of some rotation players.

But i'm a dreamer too.

i say we stick to signing our guys back for next year...except for may...trade morrison b4 the deadline an maybe get a low 1st rounder if any team would do that...an then wait until the 2010 offseason to sign michael redd....i love watching iverson play but i see him messing up our great team chemistry we have goin right now...although it would be interesting to see if iverson would ever consider being the 6th man...but we'd prolly have a better chance of seeing sean may cut his weight down to 180

We are able to be a player with *some* of the big dogs..

While nearly 20 teams inquired about his services, McDyess said he was only seriously interested in Boston, the Lakers, Cleveland, Charlotte, and Detroit (from the boston globe).

There are some players who know all about larry and would love to come here, AI coming here wouldn't shock me, nor would many of the pistons or 76ers who he has touched over the years... (we've got one of those in Raja actually)...

AI would have to take a pay cut in my mind. He's proven he can't be a "team player" with how Detroit has fared since the trade and he's definitely on the decline; the same can be said for Rasheed (who also is on the decline and has ties to LB).

Barring trades, we don't have the cap space to make any major noise in either '09/'10. But that doesn't mean we can't make some moves and land a good second tier guy and be major players in the playoff race

AI totally defeats the system here. he takes all the shots versus the sort of team ball we play here. we need to wait until 2010. if we dont make any big signings well have mad cap room

I'd think AI would start at the 1, not the 2. Would definitely move on from Ray if we brought in AI.
He did play under LB before and went to the Finals. Not saying it would be the right move, but it probably would not be the worst move.

I think your dichotomy is flaud.

As an example, and I can't believe I'm about to defend this guy, but don't you think Rasheed is very much PRO-team, and ANTI-Everyone else?

The only reason his mouth gets him in trouble is because he's talking smack to the other team or the refs, etc. Attitude yes, and he's a total dick if you're against him, but it seems to me that he's got your back if you're on his team.

I don't like him because he's a tar heel. Because clearly that's a more reasonable excuse to not like a player... (note sarcasm and self-mockery in the last line)

Well I forgive your shortcomings...jk

but Rasheed is only a team player when he wants to be, and the techs. are NOT a team players actions...its the one hting I dont like about Raja...but Rasheed is moody and when hes not happy, from what I can tell hes not fun to be around and hogs the show

How can you call Kobe and Rasheed and hell even LeBron not a team player.

So apparently you dont like Bigs or high scoorer, I dont know what type of team you are trying to put together with 5 pgs. You got to have some selfish player on the team or your never gonna score, you are just gonna pass the ball none stop

If Lebron is not a team player, then on that same train of thought Sun revolves around the Earth.

Lebron James is the most unselfish superstar ever who will score 30-40 points and dish out 5-12 assists without hesitation. This guy likes creating for his teammates as much as he likes creating for himself. Thats why he was a point guard when he first came into the League.

I think if we got Lamar Odom it would benefit us a lot. Lamar Odom is one of the best players in the NBA in an all around game. He can dominate inside both offensively and on the boards. If we cn't get Odom then we should try and get Boozer. He is a former ACC player and would draw attention from fans in the area. We need to take advantage of the players that are up for grabs in the next two years

We need to find another Juwan, someone everyone thinks is washed up, but really isn't and just needs the right coach to make them come back up...I cant think of any player like that except shaq, but of course we wouldn't really want to pay his price either...but you get my point... what about that guard on the pacers who they refuse to play? Tinsley or whatever? Maybe him and a 1st round pick (and maybe a bench player) for Felton (and maybe Nazr)

No way in HELL is LeBron an anti-team player. He's not the ultimate building block and the most coveted basketball player in the world because he can score. He's the guy that will go out and give you 30 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and play tough ass team defense.. EVERY NIGHT.

He's the guy that turned Kobe away from being a ballhog and got him to be a team player and now he's dishing out double digit assists regularly. Kobe USED to be a selfish player, but not anymore.

Rasheed will go to war for his teammates. He has an abrasive attitude yes, but he's going to battle night in and night out for his team.

you people would honestly trust DJ to finish the season and carry us to the playoffs. I love the man i call Mighty Smurf as much as anyone here, but i dont see him doing it big for us THIS year.

Honestly DJ and Felton are both excellent 7/10 PGs, thing is Ray is at his peak, which he can and probably will sustain for years to come at 7/10. DJ on the other hand has only the sky as a limit, and while I will refrain from calling him god or comparing him to CP3 or any of the garbage...No 2 players have the same game...so comparison is worthless, but what I will say DJ is 7/10 TODAY and will be 8/10 by the end of the season, and likely with good training over the summer (maybe in that chicago gym that MJ loves to frequent) he will likely start next season 8.5/10 and end it at 9/10 which will likely be his peak due to hs size. His speed and passing ability is nearly unmatched, he just needs to have better decision making skills, which will come.

I'm far from the "Trade felton now" bandwagon, but if a deal for a vet 1 and good to great 2 guard we'd be silly to not consider it... Another good choice, and laugh if you must, would be to get Felton someone to talk with to help break the hero complex he seems to have. I understand where it comes from, he's never had a "complete team" to play with and he has spent too much time as a 2 guard which has done a great deal of damage to his game. None of this is Ray's fault, he is a great player, a great person and if we can get him for the right price I'd say keep him because great/excellent PGs are difficult to find...I'd rather have 2 pgs at 6-7 mil each than 1 pg at 12 mil and 1 at 1-2 mil who plays only for rest and when the expensive guy is out w/ an injury. It makes more sense to have extra PGs and extra big men, but right now there is NO ONE behind GW who can put the ball in the rim and we need that, at least S. Brown can put it in the rim.

With LeBron I was referring to all the distractions with '10, and thats it...my b for not clarifyng

To whomever said it, I dont see 5 pgs, I see shaq at center, g-force at sf, dwade at sg and cp3 at the point...

For years Kobe has been a selfish player, and is still not a great team guy, remember he did score 81 a few yrs ago and if he didnt have gasol and odom hed do it more often..

didnt think my post would get that kinda response, but ok :p

The implication was not that they all need to be re-signed, but that all require the FO's attention.

If you go to dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/) you'll find 'sign to new contract' and address are not synonyms. Oh... synonyms means words with similar meanings (in case there was confusion).
