Sign Shannon Brown to an Extension ASAP!

The man is sick. I liked his game since his days at MSU, but his recent showings in extended playing time have just cemented what I already felt - the guy is a legit player. He almost single-handedly brought us back to win against the Lakers tonight. Yeah, Diaw and Oak hit some good shots too, but Brown was making it happen off the dribble and finishing inside or drawing the foul. Not only that... He impressed me with his outside shooting by nailing two three pointers late in the game, with the last one deflating the Lakers hopes after Kobe fouled out.

He filled in admirably for Gerald and has earned his spot on the team. I really hope we re-sign him asap. I'm not sure but I don't think we're allowed to sign him until after the season, so I hope we do so at the first chance. The guy can play and is a legit rotation player, he just needed a chance.

Hey go back and look at one of the game threads, I talked about liking the way he moved. He seems to have ton of energy, he's incredibly quick and very athletic. I don't really see much that I don't like about him honestly. Hopefully he gets more minutes and becomes a dynamic scorer we need, with Wallace out indefinitely that might just happen!

I was saying how good Brown was after the first time I saw him play, he's a freaking killer 2 guard who can play the 1 if needed and clearly by last night he can play the 3 because he's athletic...

Hey dont hate on Diop. Hes still learning the system. But he played pretty well IMO. Hes plays 11 min and manages 6 reb 4 pts and a block. kinda sounds like the beginnings of what we brought him in for. yea the 3 fouls are a turnoff but it kinda seemed like he was just trying to prove to LB that he deserved to play and got a little over-anxious.

Also i think shannon might also be better suited as a 2/3 than a 1/2 after watching last night. Whenever shannon was bringing the ball up as a 1 he looked scared and didnt really play well, he got rid of the ball as quick as possible and committed some TO's. as a 2 he played pretty well kinda like he always does but then when he began playing the 3... well yall saw the game

Ive been on the shannon brown bandwagon since day one....... he was really good in college, and is a freak athlete who can shoot and defend. Hopefully we will see him starting tonight since im sure gerald wont be playing. He deserves it.

Always liked the guys energy, spring and ability to hit the jumper and defend. I think when DJ gets back that he solidifies the bench with (DJ, Shannon, Ammo, Juwan, and Diop).

I would be willing to pay him more if he would take Diaw with him next summer to train at the attack athletics center. I am already tired of seeing him miss bunnies and besides he owes grant hill a nasty dunk for that bridesmaid comment.

I also like him. He brought 2 matches I remember by himself (WAS and LAL games). In the offseason, he'll be an unrestricted FA and I guess a lot of teams will try to get him somehow. But I think we can offer as much as anybody would, unless some other freak teams give him full MLE. Otherwise, I see him signing a 2 or 3 year deal with us.

is there a way to give someone an extention in the middle of the season, or does that have to be done at the end of the season? i would love to be able to lock him up now for the next few years instead of him becoming a UFA and having to contend with other teams.

I'm sure we'll probably offer him another league minimum contract. I doubt he'll get many better offers than that. No need to overpay.

i don't think an extension is warranted yet..we should try to retain it, but we can't go overboard here. he has been good coming off the bench, very inconsistent. he lacks good ball handling ability and 3 pt shooting. it's nice to have him come off the bench, but i don't think we would lose that much if he were to go to another team. there are other players out there that have similar skill sets

Although I was meaning at the end of the season or during the off season Id leave it on a wait and see basis...:cool:
