I got a thing in the mail for season ticket holders today to send emails to Gerald. I want to pass this along so that he gets plenty of mail wishing him well.

Email address – getwellgerald@bobcats.com – established to enable fans to send ‘get well’ wishes to Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace, who remains in a Los Angeles-area hospital tonight. Emails sent to this address will be printed and delivered directly to Wallace upon his return to Charlotte.

Wallace suffered a partially collapsed lung and non-displaced fracture of the fifth rib after taking a hard foul during last night’s win over the Los Angeles Lakers. He will remain in the hospital over the next 48 hours for observation. Additional information about his progress and a timetable for his return will be updated in the coming days.
.

so take a minute and send him a note. anyone who works as hard as he does for our favorite team certainly deserves a little positive support.

I was just sending him a note when I read this. Attached my avatar pic, I met him a few times and he remembers me (except the one time after the concussion) so hopefully getting something from a fan that isn't just a blind name will make him feel a bit better... I wished him well from bobcatsplanet.com as well... Maybe there is some miracle surgery they havent gone public with that will make him better in a few weeks instead of months..

Wallace will most likely be out for a month to 6 weeks. My sister who is a nurse had her lung collapse twice. She said thats not really his biggest problem. His ribs are going to take 6 weeks at less to heal. Knowing how Crash plays It's best to just let him heal. This comes at a horrible time, but there's no need to rush him back. Knowing Gerald he would probably play with broken ribs to get us to the playoffs, just makes me even more angery to see Sean May Smiling all bright in his suit on the sideline.

I was hoping he'd be out only about 2-3 weeks. If it is 2x that long, that may be too much for us to tread water and make the playoffs. But his health is most important so I dont want him back prematurely.

If wallace comes back too early he could EASILY reinjure it the next time he hits the floor (forced or not). He also may come back and be afraid of reinjury and play less than his best, which I'd take 50% of wallace over 100% of Ammo on the start, but when players are nervous about reinjury they dont "pop" the way they did... This is actually one of Ammo's problems, he is deathly afraid to tear the ACL again.

I hear ya on that...I wish I could slap him upside the head sometimes and yell at him to start giving a shit about his team and start working to lose the damn weight already

Wow. That's disheartening. I have Wallace on my fantasy team on ESPN and it lists him as "Day-to-Day" I figured they just put that there until they had more info.. but still.. I was hoping deep down ESPN knew something I didn't.

I think everyone here can take some time out of their day to write a little something to the man who i consider to be the best player this fledgling franchise has seen yet.

Get well Gerald Wallace
aka GW˛

Unless I'm wrong it they said he had "cracked ribs" right? if they are cracked then he might only be out 2-4 weeks. But broken ribs of course will take longer, plus 30 % of his lung collapsed. Right now I'm pretty sure if he hasn't checked out he's recovering from the chest tube they put in to pump up his lung again. I don't want to make a unjustified prediction but I'm guessing he's out atleast a month...I might be wrong so don't let me kill all hope

i don't know I've read broken so far everywhere. Hopefully you are right. I just hope Bobcats organization will do everything to prevent him from rushing back to early, as our players sometimes do.

Not knowing anything about the injury, I was figuring at least a month, but hoping otherwise. I just hope our guys can rally FOR HIM and keep the ship afloat....GW deserves the playoffs not only for the tough year he's been through, but for his loyalty to the team!
