View Full Version : Juwan-a start?

From reading the observer (you all know where to go for Rick's page) it seems that yesterday's full practice Juwan practiced with the starters instead of in the 4-on-4 the bench plays. Juwan would be (based on my VERY limited research) on the oldest starters in the league, but we've seen he can do it minute wise he's definitely capable of 30-35...in the other minutes we can push Diaw up to 4 and put in Martin for a good 18 and give Ammo a DNP-CD for all I care...

There is also some interesting info that Diaw will probably work in the second unit a bit as a PG/SF and bring the ball up, pass it to someone, move to SF and then try to put it in...that should make for some interesting gameplay, not that he doesn't have the skills for sure he does, but I'm imagining that he'll be playing Diaw with Lil Sean so that he has someone to kind of help him a bit. This could be that transition to the 2 for Lil Sean that I've been waiting for. All in all tonight's game could be very interesting.

I really don't hate that line up with Juwan at the starting 4.

However, I can't help but wonder how shitty our bench will be if that happens.

I mean, you can't just hope that Juwan falls in a pond and comes out 10 years younger.

i saw this one coming..starting ammo at SF is only good if he is generating points and making assists..since he he hasn't done either, then he is more of a liability to us due to his poor defense

while juwan is good off the bench, i don't see him being as effective as a starter..but hope he proves me wrong. there's really nothing else we can do, other than
1) sean may comes back
2) move bell to SF once DJ is healthy

3) Start Cartier Martin once he's proven and is a bit more comfy in our system. (I think it would be the first time a D-League 10 day call up got a start in the NBA before signing for the season, but I'm not up on all the stats).

I think Juwan will step up tonight with being a starter. It may work out.

if he is to be a true option, i think it will take him more than a 10-day contract to get accostumed to the offense.. i would consider him unless when sign him to another 10-day so that he gets more acclimated

i hope so...i mean, thats the only way we are going to survive without wallace

my concern about howard is that he is slow on defense and not sure about how good of a rebouder he is. while he has been a good scorer off the bench, it also has to do with the amount of minutes he plays. as a starter, he will play a lot more, which could get him tired and see a drop in the FG %..but we will see!

Yeah I totally hear ya...I'm hoping he can keep trucking though and that he realizes that we REALLY need him right now..like you said we will see

Is this what they are talking about doing in tonights lineup?

1) Felts/Singletary/Shannon/
2) Bell/Shannon/Singletary
3) Boris/Martin/Adam
4) Juwan/Nazr/Lex
5) Mek/Diop/Nazr

I can't imagine Nazr playing PF. Mek will play there first if needed/Larry thinks it would be good tactical option for a stretch. Nazr is somewat bigger and i guess slower.

I just wanted to use this post to once again say Sean May Sucks.

It's sad we'd rather start a 35 yr old , that i'm not sure can even dunk anymore. Howard has actually play'd well and he deserves some playin time before we have to send him off to the rest home.

Tonights game might be a good time for May to get playing time. I think he would match up well in tonights game and give us the extra rebounding and scoring to get over the hump. The guy has all ways had the abilitys . Hes just don't have a love for the game.Never has never will.

Yeah I have to agree that it is rather quite sad

IF we could just get a D-Leaguer to give Juwan some relief/play with heart every night (ROD BENSON?!) then i think this will work great for us. I am excited with the prospect of this Okafor-Howard-Diaw-Bell-Felton lineup. But what happens if Diaw gets injured? Then what will prevent ADAM FREAKIN MORRISON from starting? (Note- Freakin is his actual middle name, and i for the record like this guy for short streches of time, but not starting)

D-Leaguer > Sean May > Ammo > Middle Schooler.

I want to give Sean May 12 minutes of real playing time (full quarter start to finish/foul out) just one time before the deadline so we can see what he might do...beyond that shop his expiring, and on 2/20 i expect to see we've either made a candle light trade or that we've waived him and made either a call up from D-league or whatever...

Well I think Juwan showed he still can play off the bench. but he is more valuable to us there...LB know that if he wears himself out starting he cant help us anymore..but I wouldnt be surprised if he becomes a coach after this year or next...but it is very sad he has to play over a thirteenth overall pick a few years ago becaus ethe kid cant lose 7 pounds...and the third pick cant hit a shot because his mental game is shot...thanks Front Office prior to LB!

If May wasnt such a fatty, he would be a good player. Even when he played this year, he showed he has a large basketball IQ, just not as large as his stomach. IF he gets to his goal weight, he might be able to be productive for us. Then again, if pigs could fly.....

As for Ammo, i think he needs therapy. Dead ass serious, that guy LOST his cold blooded killer instincts. IF he gets that back, he could be productive. Then again, if pigs could opperate airplanes.......

When you're dealing with millions of dollars I have no sympathy for if's. I don't see how you can make that much money and not lose 7 pounds in a month. I also don't see how you can make that much money and turn into a little bitch when you don't make a jumper.

Grow up, be a man, and do your job. Underperformers get fired for that at regular jobs. They deserve the same. We've given BOTH of them way too much time to get their stuff straight. It's too late. Let's cut our ties and work on being a better team without them.

And AmMo is scaring me, not as a player, but as a person

I was just stating hypotheticals (since this place is always crawling with them), but what you said is the truth. Sean needs to man up and so does Adam. But will they? No. So yeah, cosign your last paragraph. Cutting our ties (unless they make drastic changes) is the best idea.
