View Full Version : Crash afraid to crash?

We are all anticipating the day that Crash is healthy enough to return I know, but what kind of player will Crash be once he returns? Crash has been a warrior and returned to his old self soon after having other injuries such as his concussions. With that said, this latest injury is a different beast to contend with. I know many of us may think that a bit more cautious Gerald Wallace and less of "Crash" would be a good thing. Truly, it would lessen the likelihood of being injured. Still, I do believe that Gerald would be less a player if he stopped being our beloved Crash. The play where he got injured was not so much a Crash play as it was a player taking what was given to him. Just so happens that he was given a hard elbow to his side.
My biggest fear is that Crash may be a bit tentative and not nearly Crash like when he returns. My MVP for our team is Crash and I am sure now that every Bobcats fan agrees seeing how lousy our team is without him. Lets hope that Crash does not let this injury affect him. My fear though is that he may be a bit less aggressive when taking the ball to the hole once he returns. We need that kind of aggression. I hope we get at least most of what we love about Crash back.

I'm really not worried about him being tentative. He's sort of like Wade. I remember Wade wearing basically a full body cover/padding in the finals. You don't change your game you change the effect on your body. He's got a mouthguard now, usually close enough to where it needs to be in his mouth. He'll probably not get another elbow to the ribs at full speed while he's in the air so his body collapses on a 7' player's elbow. It was rare, somewhat malicious, somewhat protective on Bynum's part. I doubt he'll really think about it. Do you guys realize he's just 26/27? He's been in the league for 7 years, in Charlotte for going on 5...he's going to be ok.

He is still young and his body recovers more quickly and more easily. But in 5 years from now, he wont heal so quickly or easily. He will have to keep that in mind, whether it changes his game any or not.

Wallace has been hurt bad in the past and i've had my worry every time he's been hurt bad about that same thing, but he's came through every time!
He knows that's his game, so he'll continue to play the same way.

Crash will still play the same way cuz he doesn't know any other way to play :)

Honestly, if there ever were a player who'd come back and play harder, it would be our Wallace...I have no fears with this one...

A cracked rib takes 4-6 weeks to heal . A collapsed lung is another thing. Since it's collapsed once there's a good chance of it happening again, But it's not ultimately life threating. Crash will be back, but probably not till March. He needs to do like DJ and just stay out till he's truely healthy to play. The way he plays, this injury could easily come back to haunt him if he's not careful.

Crazy SOB Crash says he'll be "running" tomorrow, and wants to play Monday against the Clippers... knowing how he is it will take a doctor saying "you crazy bastard go lay down" to keep him from playing...and frankly we need more players like that...I just worry about him having a reinjury and then we're totally screwed...
If he can come in and play hard that quickly I see us with 40 wins, enough to make the playoffs barely...but still in the playoffs :) but the likelihood is he'll need at least another week after the ASG and likely we'll be a 36 win team for the season sitting in 9th overall sadly...oh so sadly.
Gerald will play before the ASG unless he is restrained by the docs...the guy is a baller and doesnt know what else to do...thats why he wont shy away from another crash

I tell ya what if he comes back before that rib has properly healed he will have a chance of breaking that rib and possibly puncturing his lung...
Well first off do you think he could care any less about the rib? He cares about the Bobcats, and thats it...I ust hope a smart doc tells him if he can or cant go...but Ill be damned if he doesnt want to be back on the court yesterday

With Wallace's attitude of wanting to play, playing hard etc, does anyone else see him hanging around in the league playing at whatever pay gets him in the game until the point where he either cant move or cant get a contract? In time he will be just like juwan, almost 40, still out there playing like he's 25 ;) Good Bless his love of the game.

I just watched the 11 minute press conference he has on Bobcats.com and not only is that guy one of the coolest basketball players I've ever seen play, but he's hilarious! His quote about his cross country trip being like sitting on a couch that's moving up and down the highway was great. I just want to give this guy a high five and then the keys to Iron Man's suit. Imagine if Gerald was Iron Man! Indestructible, able to fly, and shoot rays out of his hands. No one could stop him on the court!

Is that like skeet justice?
No worries about Crash at all. He only knows one speed. He'll eventually come back to the game and still be the same old Crash. We were thinking the same things after his 4th concussion, but he clearly is still playing balls out.
What the hell is skreet? Street skeet??
But when do the docs think Crash "should" come back
